K-Meleon Earthlink anti-phishing integration

Earthlink (www.earthlink.com) antiphishing filter is an independently maintained filter, which is available for firefox. However you cannot try it out with K-Meleon, as it must be downloaded from a Firefox menu.

Maybe worth looking at an integration to add anti-phishing to K-meleon?

Some PPL here looked but there is no handler for the lists similar to this.

Firekeeper has the potential to work with k-meleon. Actually it works but... with 2 Problems:

1st: You have to leave one of its XUL windows open in the background - else k-meleon loses contact to firekeeper.

2nd: the developer answered to an inquiry about a bug that limited the use: "I'm sorry but as for now Firekeeper can't support all different Firefox clones. ... When Firekeeper gets mature, it will be a good time to make it compatible with various clones, but that's in the future."

Well all that was needed is that firekeeper gives k-meleon a constant stream of info without open XUL windows.

Some other XULextensions such as Console2, NoScript and AdBlock seem to do this smiling smiley

Maybe You want to look whether firekeeper can handle the list You mentioned.

I have a experimental k-meleon extension setup of a firekeeper0.2.14 - if You want it to experiment, You can download it at rapidshare.

p. s. I used k-meleon before the first Phoenix aka Firebird aka Firefox beta even had appeared. I am kind of surprised about the idea that K-Meleon is a clone.

I watch the firekeeper project no more and I will not give support if You have questions/problems.

BTW. I will look at copernic. thx for the posting the link smiling smiley

Thanks Guenter

Will try your firekeeper extension - many thanks - wonder if one can make it minimise to taskbar or sthg.

Glad I found K-Mellon, unfortunate that it is not more widely known.

Copernic still working OK. Might try sharing a history file between K- and Firefox. Bit nervous it will cause trouble if K- or F assume exclusive access.

It is not mine but Jan Wrobel's extension.
I merely repacked, translated and wrote the k-m calling macro for my own use.

Yes that minimising is an idea.

You could also create a loose XUL window to ease this.

Try and change kmm string:

firekeeper{
$OpenURL="chrome://firekeeper/content/config.xul"; $ExecMacros="OpenURL_InNew"; &ExecMacros_Frames;
}

to:

firekeeper{
$OpenURL="chrome://firekeeper/content/config.xul"; &OpenURL_InNewWindow;
}

That should make a XUL window like mtypes.

But it would be better if no open XUL window was needed.

history.dat: You could try to cheat FF and k-m by installing a k-m inside the FF profile folder and have k-m use the same files as FF. With the use of a k-meleon profile.ini You can do that smiling smiley

Thanks a lot, if I have a spare moment soon I'll have a go!

Re copernic - you are a braver man than I! Everything seems to work OK re indexing now, so I think I'll let sleeping dogs lie!

Best wishes

Only a different type of Window.
Best wishes to the UK.

p. s. I almost exclusively use K-Meleon since 0.8.2 so it does not matter whether another browser install breaks.
