Display HTML files as HTML please!

Check out this page:

In K-Meleon, it simply displays the contents of the file as if it were a text file. I believe it's because there's no file extension associated with it. Could KM be updated to look at the source and determine if it's an HTML file regardless of file extension?

I'm not the one to answer your question, so hope others will step in here. But I do notice that this particular webpage uses FrontPage 6, which is notorious in often requiring IE to display properly, e.g., which means you can right click on the URL and then "send linke to" Internet Explorer to open it up.

You are right.

No, browsers must not do content sniffing. It is the server's job to tell the browser what type of data a file contains. It is definitely not a browser's job to correct all kinds of mistakes that webmasters can do.

Besides that, ndebord is right. The site works in Internet Explorer, but not in Firefox either.

for those kind of websites we use ietab extension to be able to browse crappy sites while still using kmeleon

ietab is available there:

don't forget the ietab supplement for even more control over ie

Well, not exactly the same subject, but related and not worth opening an own thread for it:

On the KM skins page
http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/SkinsAndThrobbers#backs
there's a "Download" for backgrounds:
http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/wiki/?binary=internal%3A%2F%2F20557605914ea0ed06640779499df1f2.zip

No way I get that zip downloaded! Right-click and "save target" redirects somehow and offers only a html-page to download, named "kmeleon_sourceforge_net". And left click opens it in a browser window, all white, URL remains the zip, but no popup offering to download it either.
Never sure, have I messed too much with the hundreds of settings and extensions?? Is it my ancient win98se again?? Or anything wrong with the link itself? No clue...

Well, for the background link, I think that the webpage has a problem, You can see all the internal links just under -Download- link, They aren't good too. In the next part of the page, some links have the same URL structure and work.

I can't explain why, because if the link doesn't exists, it ought to display an error page.
