I have another issue to report. Its that it takes too long for a tab to be shown as selected when switching between them using a keyboard shortcut and when making a new foreground tab.

de locale updated.

Thank You Dorian,

can You s'il vous/te plaît update from my package: bookmarks.dll, kmeleon.kml and add missing tuxhelper.kml or use the whole folder? Merci d'avance.

p.s. Yahoo.mail causes trouble when I have to copy/paste in a mail.

This is a known Yahoo problem since many K-Meleon versions.

I can copy into the cache but the JS on that page prevent that the context menu with Paste shows when I want to paste in another position in the text.

I only can force a way around it when I mark a position and use "Paste" from the "Edit" menu.

This item is not accessible from the new Compact Menue used in the default skin, AuraAlpha(CNoT) and Klassic.

Proposed fix. Add the "Edit" menu item too the new Compact Menue.

That way users of that page can use it when the context menue item is not offered on right click.

No. I offer it as part of the German locale package. It is for all OS and users.

Fred from Switzerland might be still using K-Meleon. He used Linux and tux who did/red corrections too. So I translated tuxhelpers and send it in a mail a while ago.

Some mails never get through. So I used the forum for the newest changes in de.

Can You technically test its translation of Your macro?

IMHO the '' are on the wrong place. I only translated but change nothing else.

Update 2 is not respecting the pref:

It seems to work fine for me. I can change between blank page and home page and about:home and update 2 shows correct page upon restart.

Are you sure. Before post I even tested with a new profile and ever goes to the url set in home page... at startup... At 2k and XP SP2.

No blank page at all if you select the marked option.

By the way, it delays. I mean that the URL bar and the window itself doesn't change until the page is loaded. Maybe that is confusing you.

Also I found now that reset the home page creates this malformed url as homepage:
esource:///locales/chrome://global/locale/intl.properties/readme.html

resource:///locales/chrome://global/locale/intl.properties/readme.html is a cuase by a bug in the mani.kmm macro file

In which the fllwoing code does not point \browser\readme.htmk when en-US us the defauly language for deafult "resource:///readme.html"

Open_KMReadme{
macroinfo=_("View basic information on the K-Meleon project");
$__l=getpref(STRING,"general.useragent.locale");
if($tux=="")
open("resource://".($__l=="en-US"?""sad smiley"/locales/".$__l))."/readme.html");
else
open("file://".getfolder(RootFolder).($__l=="en-US"?"/browser"sad smiley"/locales/".$__l))."/readme.html");
endif;
}

It also does the smae to "Welcom to K-Mekeon!" ins the Helep Menu.

i foaund if wanted readme.html to displayed en-US, I had had opyr readme.html to work with en-Us i copy readme.html into to omni.ja and switch from yo another language and back to en-US.

Then "Welcom to K-Mekeon!"works and when you click default foor hemoage "resource:///readme.html" is displayed.

This bug has been in K-Meleon 74 for many previous versionss of th the browser.

Slso another fix for this is to extract omni.ja to the browser folder the clicking defsult and "Welcom to K-Mekeon!" work with that code.

The browser thinks that readme.html should be stored in omni.ja for the default startuo language en-US.

This is just about:home webpage is stored in the file omni,ja

Another issue with update 2.

I have set CTRL RButton to open in background window (a macro to open in background with some cleaning to link).

It does open in background window, but also brings the context menu.

This issue, as the homepage issue I talked in the last page (and no one confirmed yet), comes from the k-meleon.exe file. Once you use the update 1 exe, works correctly.

EDIT: just in case, tested in 2K, XP and 7 and even in tabs mode with a clean profile with the same behavior too.

Finally thought just for curiosity I'd not just unzip KM74 to look inside, which creates a messed folder structure of course, but try the installer. Knowing full well of course there's no way it would run on my system. Nevertheless, here are some first impressions :cool:

Was especially delighted that the installer now explains much better about portable versions and needing writing rights! Great! smiling smiley

Then pointed to a manual install folder, meaning to install it as D:/KM74, which didn't exist yet. Verified at first - aha the default path includes a KM folder, so it should be in my new path as well... but of course forgot it again right away and ended up with all contents directly in D: - oops!

Took a look inside the skin folder and was surprised: every single Aura-folder contains in the "installed" version over 40 files, while the merely unzipped exe only had 1 / 5 / 25 files in the aura-variation folders... confused...

Noticed the 10 year old commands.txt in the skins folder...
Found desgas newer commands.html version in browser/defaults, but the chapter-links inside are all dead, because they still point to his expired xthost-account (there's just a single line with that base-href in the header)

Well, that's about as far as I get ;-)

PS: Don't expect that the hotlist.dll was ever really changed since a decade, but IIRC since 1.6 it had a bug that all nick names were deleted when a new hotlist-bookmark was stored, or something alike... Am since using the 1.5.4 dll again, still working fine in 1.6 and 1.7 too. Wonder if anyone checked if hotlist-nicks are kept in KM74?

(note to @guenter: as expected countless win98 errors in dependencyWalker, but none of it caused by some xul.dll, and of course all files in all subfolders are running in the same XP-compat-mode as the calling km-exe)

Dorian, i just have a small suggestion; wouldn't it be better to create a thread where you post the minor and major updates to KM but DISABLE comments/replies from other users in that thread? They could still talk about that update/release but in another thread.

For Ex:

K-Meleon 74 RC (This thread should be resereved only for updates and you should be the only one allowed/able to post there)

And another thread called K-Meleon 74 RC Discussion Thread (or something like that where users can discuss the major or minor updates and problems of that release)

The reason i'm asking this it's because almost universally ALL users that will try this browser for the first time have and will fail to notice the small upsated you post, scatered amongst the other users posts.

Before i used the RC version i wasn't even aware that there were 4 minor updates to this browser.

I believe this will make it easier for new users and old ones to find the updates to this browser and make K-Meleon to increase in popularity.

The same way.

Places.sqlite database provides tables to such functionalities. You can inspect it with Sqlite Manager add-on/extension (http://kmext.sf.net/km74).

@Rain, @Mala, if the problem is the hard to find update links, I already proposed to move them to the main message of each announce topic.

Talk about an announcement in another thread could be even more distracting of the conversation.

1. Will the ability to open multiple tabs via a nickname assigned to a bookmark folder be retained when its switched over to that?

2. I agree with the suggestion that you proposed.

@JamesD:
Surprisingly doesn't help much. After some tests, it looks like KmHeader is even worse. Caused by absolute positioning and 100%, plus icons and borders. Guess "absolute" stuff always gives probs for various monitors and font sizes, but on my 1024 screen all seems fine if either no width or only "max"-width for body, and deleting the "absolute" line for KmHeader. Then again, an "absolute" width of 90% looks best for the heights too. I'm only dabbling a bit with css, but guess tables are quite popular to avoid position probs for various users, and the lines can be hidden.
Don't you see a scrollbar at the bottom too?

Sadly not.

Firefox interface doesn't let to add nicknames to folders. I tricked it by editing the database and it wasn't accepted either.

That should be achieved in other ways.

I repost this issue again as I reported in beta 3 and I found today that still wasn't fixed in RC.

The behavior is the same and no errors at all in console window.

If you use digital certificates, even if you don't have a valid one for this site, you can test the window here as it is enough to display the window to have one personal digital certificate.

The Text Signing window with certificates has an issue. Clicking on Ok or Cancel buttons does nothing. You must press Enter in the Keyboard (and probably Esc to close, I haven't tested that) to be able to use it.

is there an error in the console when clicking ok or cancel?

No. No errors. Only typical CSS/JS erros but with source the webpage that originated them. Nothing related to XUL or Chrome errors.

I confirm that only works Enter and ESC to accept and exit. Even the X to close the window does nothing.

@ siria

There are two items in the css file. One is "KmHeader" and the other is "KmIcon". If I try to make either one relative instead of absolute, then they do not line up correctly. I am no expert on CSS. If you see a better way to obtain an acceptable matching of the header and icon, I will use it.

I hoped that icon at absolute and header at relative would work, but header is too low with those settings.

Whether there is a scroll bar at the bottom depends on the longest line in the htm file. Some have a scroll bar while others do not. Cookie Management and Command Line Options do not, but MacroLanguage and Plugin Commands do. I can't believe that typed the title wrong for MacroLanguage, but I did. I must fix that.

Fore expmape if i10n.js coantains

when it fist started then resource:///readme.html is displaye instead of

resource:///locales/chrome://global/locale/intl.properties/readme.html

when it is first Launched without the installer yo have to the file i10n.js to prevent the malfomed url.

IMHO. The community lives better when many people contribute.

Or do You think I habitually translate or need German chrome and kmls? grinning smiley

p.s. I asked You to test especially that VC 8 compiled FF because I hoped You to find first hand info whether ESR 24 still works under Win98 Kernel EX. Maybe even as VC 10 compiled version.

Es gibt noch Wege, die von VC 10 zu den VergangenheitsOSen führen. http://tedwvc.wordpress.com/2010/11/07/how-to-get-visual-c-2010-mfc-applications-to-run-on-windows-2000/. Was du ja jetzt behauptetst.

Versuch macht kluch. grinning smiley

Nur muss man vorher eine Ahnung haben, ob der Aufwand sich lohnen könnte.

Another issue related to flash and K-meleon, not happening in Firefox or others.

Initially I thought it was a YouTube player fault, but when happened today in another site...

The thing is that drop down menus in flash objects doesn't work. When you clic on an item of the drop down list, the drop down disappears without selecting, or making effective, the selected option.

At the top right of this flash you have options to change the way the map is displayed. They don't work with the mouse. If you navigate through it with the keyboard and press enter, then it works

Exactly.

But if you select an option with the keyboard, after you already expanded the drop down menu with the mouse, and press enter, works.

In other words, something is blocking the mouse in K-meleon and flash objects for these tasks, but not normal clics.
