Hi,
here's an UNTESTED, non-comprehensive list of webmail services that offer (among other offers) free webMail accounts not confined to being accessed from the "major" browsers only. Included are some browsers that are not explicitly stated as being "confined" in my source:

wikipedia - Comparison_of_webmail_providers

AOL
ContactOffice
Excite
FastMail.FM
Gawab
Gmail
Hushmail
Lavabit
Mail.com
Mail.ru
Mail2World
Mymailshare
MyWay
O2 Webmail
Opolis
SAPO Mail
Seznam.cz

Some of these do not have an English interface.
If you know of any other, please put it in this thread.
If you use one of these successfully, please let us know.
If you tried one and were not happy with it, too ...

Now, the reason why I put this in the "Extensions" forum: Maybe someone wants to write a macro that helps "auto"-migrating?

I'm thinking of a thing that is able to use the hotmail page to forward selected mails from hotmail to other accounts.

Minimum requirement: It should be able to paste my new mail address to the address box, plus extract a mail's original sending date and PREpend it to a mails subject heading INSTEAD of "Fw".
Date should appear in a year-month-day format to get them sorted easily in the new account.

I'd volunteer to write the HowTo.

Cheers
SoerenB

As for web based e-mail, Lycos is very nice and works well with K-Meleon, I might say the same for Yahoo Classic.

SoerenB and Doon can you help me with a problem regarding an email service
on your list?
I did a forum search and found stuff about Mail2World as far back as 4 years.
But no solution to my problem.
My problem goes back several more years of K-Meleon versions than 4 years ago.
I have tried K-Meleon back since the early years and every one of them will
start using almost 100% CPU on anything that Mail2World offers.
Everything freezes up shortly after signing in.
I have rarely seen it take more than 5 to 10 minutes for this to happen.
They offer about 500 different names and it's all the same.
I've tried this with probably over 100 different computers from many locations.
It doesn't matter if you use a pentium 2 with 128mb Ram or
a pentium 4 with a processor having several GHZs
and several gigabytes of memory.
It seems that no amount of memory or processor power can overcome this.

I have no problem using sending mails from my test account there.
Cave: I do not use it extensively.

Maybe try with 1.6.alpha. It throws AFAIK only 1 grave errors on their page.

What You can do is open the Error console and clear it.

And You can use a Firefox UserAgentString to get code that is optimized for Mozilla GRE.

Nobody here can help and fix the JavaScript errors on their site.

The Error score when using K-Meleon's default UAstring =

Comment: 1.5.4 was set to suppress minor errors.
