The QuickNote Extension located at Firefox Addon Web Page https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/quicknote/

Just Diwnload QuickNote https://addons.cdn.mozilla.net/user-media/addons/46/quicknote-0.7.5-fx+sm+tb.xpi and QuickNote http://kmext.sourceforge.net/extensions/quicknote.7z from K-Meleon Extensions Central.

Reanme quicknote-0.7.5-fx+sm+tb.xpi to {C0CB8BA3-6C1B-47e8-A6AB-1FAB889562D9}.xpi

Etract the QuickNote macro from quicknote.7z.

I am not sure if the K-Plugin utils.dll in quicknote.7z. is needed in K-Meleon 74.0

I have not tested this extension yet so it may or mya not work for you.

It may or may not require the choome files from quicknote.jar in quicknote.7z. if the chrome files from C0CB8BA3-6C1B-47e8-A6AB-1FAB889562D9}.xpi do not work.

I just tested QUickNote C0CB8BA3-6C1B-47e8-A6AB-1FAB889562D9}.xpi and the macro quicknote.kmm from quicknote.7z and it seems to worki without any problems.

Thanks, but I'm totally confused. Is there a simpler way to do this? Can you make one file?

Quick Note nneds both the extension and a macro to work.

90 precent of the extensions that could work with K-Metrns 74.0 require a macro to acess seeting and hteir functions.

If you want browser that uses one file for extensions you have to use Firefox which can access settings becuase if its compltee support of XUL.

Adding more support for XUK in K-Meleon 74.0 would increase memory usage and slow the browser down.

It is placed in browser/defaults/profile/extensions for new profiles

And it is placed Profiles\xxx.default\extensions for existing default profile.

Firefox stores xpi extensions in its profile. K-Meleon 74.0 does that as well.

Confer http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?2,130307

./kmroot/browser/extensions/*.xpi / for all users of KM.

To use the folder ./browser/extensions/*.xpi for a default install.

Add currently to the addon's install.rdf:

<em:targetApplication>
<Description>
<!--K-Meleon-->
<em:id>kmeleon@</em:id>
<em:minVersion>74.0</em:minVersion>
<em:maxVersion>74.0</em:maxVersion>
</Description>
</em:targetApplication>

portable also

./kmroot/profiles/UsedProfile/extensions

default location user specific.

username/%APPDATA%/used profile/extensions

p.s. To use the location You have chosen look into narumans versions how he does it.

He adds to chrome.manifest in ./kmroot/

manifest extensions/extensions.manifest

and there he points to a manifest policymanager.manifest

Which in turn has the path to an extensions chrome.

Also the lower part of another post might be interesting:

It gives a hint to addons that prevent compatibility check.

Hi,

I previously tried in kmroot\extensions and also un <xyz.default\extensions but it failed

I have now modified the path and tried to use kmroot\browser\extension, and I have edited the install.rdf to add kmeleon, and it fails too nothing opens ... I must say that I have installed the kmm without have a look if it needs some modifications.

I think all these possibilities are a little disturbing.

One thing that I haven't understand is that xpi has not to be extracted, I found this really curious, but it's also the case with Firefox, so ...

But for now, I always fail ... too older ???

Maybe you nned the macro http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/file.php?9,file=822,filename=xpinstallext.kmm

Which toggles and creates the value kmeleon.install_firefox_extension in K-Meleon 74

It allows some firefox extensions to load without editing install.rdf like Adblock Plus 2.6.5.

Perhaps not possible under wine ???

Here are the messages I have when launching it from within a console:

Seems not related to Quicknote ...

When I try to open Quicknote, when quitting K-Meleon, it doesn't close correctly, and I must kill the task, oy Ctrl-C if I launch form a console.

I have tried with the prefs that JohnHell gives, it fails

I have these errors in Console2

Could not read chrome manifest 'file:///E:/Program%20Files/K-Meleon74/extensions/extensions.manifest'.

What is funny, is that I created quicknote.kmm there is a few year.
The error in quicknote.kmm was the use of Alert() instead of alert()

I have then extracted, located, and renamed chrome.manifest to extensions/extensions.manifest, and I have no more crash, but this message:

Impossible de trouver le fichier /E:/Program Files/K-Meleon74/extensions/chrome/content/quicknote.xul.

    Y a-t-il une erreur de majuscule, d'accent ou une autre erreur typographique dans l'adresse ?
    Avez-vous des permissions d'accès suffisantes pour ce fichier ?

It seems that I must extract the xpi, ou perhaps I must adapt the manifest file ...

Your advice ..;

I have tried extracting it, but it doesn't works. Text isn't saved, no preference box, ...

Well, I finally make it work using kmeleon.install_firefox_extension pref.

I put {C0CB8BA3-6C1B-47e8-A6AB-1FAB889562D9}.xpi in kmroot\browser\extensions folder
I set the prefs, and remove the pref xpinstall.enabled (perhaps it's used in another way of xpi install)

Quicknote opens ok and works, but some features don't work as it worked with previous K-Meleon versions.
1) it's not possible to send selected text or webpage address to Quicknote, as it was possible (I will have a look to the macro).
I found the reason, first, utils.dll is missing.
I have found a version of 2010 (0.0.13), and put it in kplugins, but it doesn't solve the problem ...
I had a look to the source, but I'm not under Windows, and I'm not able to modify it. But if someone want to try, i't's located here: http://kmext.sourceforge.net/initiative/mark307.htm

2) Some parameters are not directly settable with Parameters box.
extensions.quicknote.showclearbutton, extensions.quicknote.showprintbutton, extensions.quicknote.showsavebutton
It's due to the fact that their state isn't correctly reported from prefs when opening : no check
So to hide a button, it's necessary in the same parameters box session to check, and immediatly uncheck before saving and quitting the parameters box.

3)An ennoying point is that the window is enlarged when opening, and I have found no way to correct it. Opening it in tabs was possible, if I remember well.
I had a look in chrome (quicknote.xul), but I didn"t find something interesting ...

For the rest, it works ok

F5 writes the date
Ctrl-F show/hide search field, search works

I have also modified the extensions.quicknote.tabXpath" in prefs.js to share the files with Firefox, and it works nicelly smiling smiley

I will now try to make mimedit to work, as it's important for Linux users, and it will allows to do modifications in Km74 instead of using Km1.54

It seems in fact really easiest to make it to work than with previous K-Meleon versions.

Thanks

I don't understand anything except the kmm-part, but near the beginning it contains this line:

$OpenURL="chrome://quicknote/content/quicknote.xul";
$ExecMacros="OpenURL_InNewWindow"; &ExecMacros_Frames;

Try this instead:
$OpenURL="chrome://quicknote/content/quicknote.xul";

Frankly I don't quite understand even the kmm-file, but the clipboard stuff is possibly a security prob in km74. On the other hand am not sure if it's needed at all, since this native var exists automatically: $SelectedText

Am not sure if it helps (line-order-bug?), but try to exchange this:

setclipboard();
id(ID_EDIT_COPY);
$text=getclipboard();
$text=$refpage."\n".$text;

with this:
$text=$refpage."\n".$SelectedText;

--------
and replace this:

setclipboard();
id(ID_EDIT_SELECT_ALL);
id(ID_EDIT_COPY);
id(ID_EDIT_SELECT_NONE);
$text=getclipboard();
$text=$refpage."\n".$text;

with:
id(ID_EDIT_SELECT_ALL);
$text=$refpage."\n".$SelectedText;
id(ID_EDIT_SELECT_NONE);

Why? Neither have I understood.

AFAIR one addon had actually be extracted to work. One only worked as XPI.

Usually both ways are supported.

So it can be a folder with the name of the extension or name/ID.xpi.

If it is convenient for You e.g. because You still work on changes to the addon try with it as folder.

Firefox and K-Meleon know the boolean pref extensions.alwaysUnpack.

That can force Firefox to install the addon as a folder not xpi.

p.s. Because I early needed unpacked extensions (to edit install.rtf) I set this in the Firefox, that I use to get extensions, to true. Now I usually try with the xpis. And i export them to K-Meleon with an addon. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-exporter/?src=api to ./k-meleon74/browser/extensions Cave the addon sometimes renames extensions so that they must be renamed to work.

Siria,

ok, changing :

$ExecMacros="OpenURL_InNewWindow"; &ExecMacros_Frames;
by
$ExecMacros="OpenURL_InNew"; &ExecMacros_Frames;

opens in a new tab, instead of a new window, but the way to open in a new window is also nice when the size of the window is set as asked in the xul file.

Under Firefox, it works ok in a small window, and I remember that it was like that previously with K-Meleon

I probably set a variable to open it in new tab or new window, with default to new tab.

But it doesn't solve this bug.

For the clipboard use, it was effectivly not needed, and complicate a bit more the macro without adding something better. It ought to be the same thing.

When I did it, I had perhaps drunk too much Cahors wine ...

Thanks

I seem to remember there is a general KM bug with the size of xul-windows... Not sure which KM versions are concerned exactly, but already a few years the error console resizes the window and no one knew how to fix it, if I recall correctly not even Dorian.

ok, perhaps, I don't remember ...

I'm modifying it to allow to choose the way iy opens new tab and new windows (new tab by default)

For mtypes, it doesn't works as tested by guenter, the content of mimetypes isn't kept and presented in the box.

But it's possible to add a new type, and its a good thing.
We can now add with mtypes, and modify or delete with kmprefs

I just now have a look to the reason why there is no menu added, perhaps a name problem (already existing ?

For now, I use about:addons, extensions and Options

About resizing xul-windows:
for the error console I had finally found a workaround awhile ago.
The trick was, to first let it take the wrong size, since there's no way to avoid it, but afterwards to resize it again $OnLoad.
And the second trick was, that "id(ID_MAXIMIZE_WINDOW)" did not work OnLoad, only a pure javascript-command:

$URL=="chrome://console2/content/console2.xul" ? injectJS("window.resizeTo(screen.availWidth,screen.availHeight);") : 0;

Well possible an adjusted version with another size may help to get a tiny quicknote window too. Only, if the line gets more complicated, guess it's probably necessary to first create a $_code that holds it, and then only do injectJS($_code)

I have tried your solution with injectJS() but I failed.

Here is what I have put in the kmm (it's about mtypes editor, but same problem).
Where do I miss ?

I have tried with resizeTo(screen.availWidth,screen.availHeight) and with values

Sigh.... bugs bugs bugs....

Looks like the resizing of xul only works when opening a new Tab, not window sad smiley
Note: since I don't have the rvjmimeedit xul, I replaced the addy with the errorconsole xul.

Either there is no OnLoad triggered at all in xul-only windows or it doesn't accept some commands, because when I insert an alert box just for testing it doesn't show up either. Funnily, when the window is opened, it first does have the "last used" size, and then is automatically resized "onload" by the xul code.

But I found now that the size in console2.xul is actually hard-coded inside.
Perhaps you can use the same way?

Well, I'll have look for console2.xul, but i think that rvjmimeedit has also size hardcoded, and also quicknote. I'll verify ...

For tabs, its not possible to resize, and the first window is extended to the tab size, after, next opened window (for mimetype creation) isn't maximized.

I had a look to the xul main window of each extension:

Console2 :
<window

    id="Console2Window"
    title="&console.title;"
    windowtype="global:console"
    width="640" height="480"
    persist="width height screenX screenY sizemode zlevel"
    onload="window.sizeToContent();ConsoleStartUp();" onunload="ConsoleShutDown();"
    onclose="return closeWindow(false);"
>

quicknote:
<window id="quicknote-main"
	xmlns:rdf="http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#";
	xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul";
	title="&quicknote.title;"
	windowtype="quicknote:mainwindow"
	width="270" height="330"
	screenX="10" screenY="10"
	persist="screenX screenY height width sizemode"
	orient="vertical"
	onkeyup="QNover.qnclosewin(event);"
	onkeypress="QNqn.chooseqntab(event);"
	onclose="return QNqn.onClose();"
	onunload="QNqn.autoSave();"
	onload="QNqn.OnLoad();"
	onfocus="QNqn.qnonfocus()"
	align="vertical">

rvjmimeedit:
<dialog id="prefDialog" xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul";
        title="&rvjmimeedit.title;"
	style="width: 400px; height: 420px;"
	windowtype="mozilla:preferences" buttons="accept,cancel"
	onload="Startup();"
	ondialogaccept="return myhPrefWindow.onOK(event);"
	ondialogcancel="return myhPrefWindow.onCancel(event);"
	persist="screenX screenY">

This last seems a bit different:

1) dialog instead of window
2) size embedded in style

For quicknote, perhaps invert the order of persist, but not sure it has some importance.

If you have an idea ...

The QuickNote 0.7.5 Firefox Extension was just updated to a signed version.

QuickNote 0.7.5.1-signed https://addons.cdn.mozilla.net/user-media/addons/46/quicknote-0.7.5-fx+sm+tb.xpi
