Please provide Adblock Plus installation instructions for K-Meleon 1.8.24

I tried both 74 and 1.8.24 and the latter is lighter and the UI is more similar to 1.5/1.6 so I chose it.

However, I can't figure out how to install Adblock Plus.

I went through the entire forum and whenever somebody asks, the answer is always somebody posted instructions somewhere go look but nobody ever posts the damn instructions.

Also, I think the posted instructions are for 74, not 1.8.24, and I don't know if they would apply.

People who have successfully done it should write it up and it should be made a sticky. It is VERY necessary.

BluHell is also OK but I've never used it before so I don't know if it's any good.

Hallo Jennifer.

Use the same 74 instructions. AFAIK the core components of 1.8 and 74 are the same.

BluHell is lighter but You cannot switch it off esealy when needed. I asked our specialist (aus Ägypten) what I can do but I have not received an answer yet.

p.s. Probably 1.8.24: in about:config You have to add kmeleon.install_firefox_extension and set it to true.

In case Your chosen K-Meleon version does not support that yet? You need to edit install.rtf of the addon XPI and probably best do what John Hall recommends in another thread.

Adding the following into install.rdf

<em:targetApplication>
<Description>
<!--K-Meleon-->
<em:id>kmeleon@</em:id>
<em:minVersion>74.0</em:minVersion>
<em:maxVersion>75.0</em:maxVersion>
</Description>
</em:targetApplication>

Du kannst in Deutsch oder Englisch fragen; Und ich werde in der Sprache der Frage antworten. Gruß

p.s. I attached with edited install.rdf in an adblock.xpi used by naruman.
I reduced the number locales to reduce the size so that I can upload here.

goes to ./k-meleon/browser/extensions

I just followed YOUR instructions from other post. And, still, Jennifer should be cursing us because we aren't providing links xDDD

Here is the link I got it from, I guess, you repeated it several times in the forum:

BTW, did the em:id number change for just Kmeleon@ :-?

P.S.: John Hall? XDDD

@JohnHell

adodupan's 1.8.24 build 22 that I have installed here is not capable yet of using addons. I just tried. It is a old testing bed. So Jennifer's problem may not be from insufficiant instructions.

@ Jennifer, Use the package I have attached.

If no success with instructions/package?
Solution: Exchange exe with the one from K-Meleon 74 release.

1.) Attached macros.zip with an older adblockplus.kmm and xpinstallext.kmm.
Extract these into ./K-Meleon/macros. You may have to activate them under Preferences Macro Extensions.

The later is used to activate K-Meleon 1.8/74's capabilty to use Firefox Addons.
In case a new K-Meleon version does not ship xpinstallext.kmm.
Menu item/toggle bottom of Edit menu.

2) The pic attached belongs to the adblock.kmm and goes into the used skin or into ./skins/default/

You can download naruman's extension package from here
http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?2,128038

It tested with the adblock version from that.

adodupan's version differs so much from the official that the German language support (which come with 74 official) only partially works.
