Whoa - 70 smileys!! grinning smiley
And some very nices ones, many look familiar from other forums, although a few others I'd probably never use here... Must admit, as much as I love smileys, usually am too lazy to switch on JS and reload again for the rare use. But who knows, perhaps will now do it more often in the future when needing a special one

PS: there's no working URL-check in it

Can't resist as usual, sorry tongue sticking out smiley but personally I'd split it in 2 parts:
_more_emoticons_KMPhorum{
if(index($URL,"kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/posting.php")>-1) &_more_emoticons_KMPhorum2;
if(index($URL,"kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/posting.php")>-1) &_more_emoticons_KMPhorum2;
}
_more_emoticons_KMPhorum2{
$_smilJH=readfile(getfolder(ProfileFolder)."\\macros\\more_emoticons_for_KMPHorum.js");
$_smilJH>"" ? 0 : ....

And hey, you're writing such an informative readme-text, and then don't keep it around for later checks, what a pity! Why not give it the same name as the kmm and js, just adding the _readme, for later reference? Or put it in the subfolder, or put a copy inside.

Hey, I'm not either, but sometimes... I enable JS for color, bold, size and also emoticons, so... I added these few more to enhance. As you see, lately I was adding new or different when posting. Look at you using them in the Yahoo thread !!!

The 68 are from an old forum I was user from (back to 2004). There were more, but aren't "generic" to be used here and most of them were selected from different sources to use on that forum (by the admin, not me). I found them in the hard disk the other day.

Hey, you found it. There was a check winking smiley

And you were right, and you weren't.

Actually the original macro wasn't standalone and it was in 2 parts, a check and and run, so in the conversion I went straight to the macro.

Ok, but got it, changed. I don't know as a mere user, but maybe that saves some KB of memory in the onload process

Nah, readme should be a one time use. After that, is up to the user to keep the file for later cheks. I won't be making the life of users so easy

So it seems a ball (probably in a smaller size like the others) is the feature request.

First. Lets all look around for a good one.

p.s. And thank You JohnHell for Your macro.

That's a great macro, love it, but being used to surf without JS I keep forgetting it :-/ So since many years am still using an ancient context menu macro with some modifications (KmBBcode, although mostly for text styling and quoting etc.)
Have now made an own smiley macro for the context menu, with a personal selection of internal forum smileys, plus some of 'your' emoticons above, plus a few of the hidden forum-smileys that you just discovered grinning smiley (still missing a few old favorites, maybe add later)
Now wondering, before publishing it for other users, do you mind if my menu macro includes the same postimg-links as yours?

There is not restriction on bandwidth or such, AFAIK, so use them.

I see you placed in kmm:
"external smilies hosted by JohnHells macro, use only for KM-Forum"

If you don't want to use them any other site, just place a domain check for kmeleon.sourceforge.net. kmeleon.sf.net and kmeleonbrowser.org.

Okay thanks. Actually I'd prefer to allow usage elsewhere too, just thought you had written somewhere not to. Perhaps remember wrong.
This line would forbid only the hidden forum smileys in other places:
menugrayed=(index(hostname($URL),"kmeleon")!=0)*(index($ARG,"[img]http://kmeleon")==0);

I remember I said, somewhere, other thread I guess, that the smileys would be available depending on the availability of postimg, that if they don't display, is not my fault, or something like that.

Concerned that, in someways, I was hotlinking and postimage could ban the access to those images. Something like that I said.

(Searching the forum for where I wrote it..... no way )

BBCode doesn't allow ALT or TITLE text, so, no way.

Using a personal macro for that purpose would be useless, as visitors won't see those ALT and/or TITLE.

Not my fault, again tongue sticking out smiley

Sorry slightly off-topic, not related to this macro but to smilies in general. There exist also "Unicode-Emojis", which are just 1 character of special fonts. Those can contain hundred thousand other Unicode-pictures too. Examples:

😻 💕 😴 🌠 🍀

See little images here? Great, you can stop reading :cool:
Or see only little rectangles with numbers inside??

That was my prob for many years! All the time I thought there's not much to do about it, that this ancient computer would probably need some deep system hacking or such - which just learned was wrong! All it took was to download one of those fonts, and it worked instantly

Some may not look very pretty (depending on the used font), and a real prob is that they look rather different for other people if they have other fonts installed. But at least it would be nice to have a rough idea WHAT sort of image someone has posted!
Here are some smilies and other stuff for a quick check:
https://unicode-table.com/en/sets/emoji/

At the moment I've just downloaded this small (0.5 Mcool smiley font "OpenSansEmoji" into the windows fonts folder. It contains only a small subset of those hundred thousand unicode characters:
https://github.com/MorbZ/OpenSansEmoji/blob/master/OpenSansEmoji.ttf
Other fonts are called "EmojiSymbols" or "Symbola", may try those later too.

each Unicode-smilie also has a text-name:
https://nds.wiktionary.org/wiki/Anhang:Unicode/Emoticons

Siria, I already told in this forum earlier, as earlier as, at least, the YesScript macro (when you asked about the forbidden symbol), when I said that if you wanted to see UTF-8 icons (characters, actually) you needed those fonts.

In fact, I use Symbola (free to use):
http://users.teilar.gr/~g1951d/

Anyway, going on topic too, the problem with these characters is that not all users have them installed, even though the latests OSs, Windows 10 in my mind, come with little support for them, but, also, as a parser, to display them as icons instead characters.

Ah yes, thanks for the reminder, had it completely forgotten. Oops. Time is always running so incredibly fast, no chance to do or learn even 10% of what I'd like to, sigh. Meanwhile had downloaded the same Symbola font too, but noticed your link is a different one - and its font file newer!

So far this Symbola font works best for me, seems a good allround Unicode font. 8.000 characters for all sorts of signs, mathematical stuff etc., it covers all basic font-smilies (emoticons/emojis), and WORKS even on Windows98 - without the slightest tricks! Simply dropping the ttf-file into the windows fonts folder, without even a browser restart!
There's a complete character map for Symbola:
http://www.fontspace.com/unicode-fonts-for-ancient-scripts/symbola/37632/charmap
With this unicode font installed, this basic emoticons page shows up complete: http://classic.getemoji.com/
The modern version only partly: http://getemoji.com/

Have also tried to find yet more alternatives, a font with prettier emojis, aside from Symbola and OpenSansEmoji, but none is running on this old system. The only third one was Google-Noto-basic, but ugly as hell and very few pics too. All the other pretty shiny fancy ones need younger systems. Oh well, guess am stuck with stoneage again. But still 100x times better as not seeing anything at all, just rectangles.

1800 emojis already!! https://emojipedia.org/faq/
This font-smilie technique is developing at lightning speed, and long since grown out of baby shoes!
Variations of "flushed face" in different modern apps: https://unicode-table.com/en/1F633/
Or Android history:
http://blog.emojipedia.org/content/images/2017/05/android-o-emoji-evolution.jpeg

Really, this has already gotten completely crazy:
formerly simple, basic icons now even come all in male+female version, and additionally in 2x5 skin shades!! (slightly exaggerated huh)
https://emojipedia.org/female-police-officer-type-5/

And not only did they manage to have real multicolor images as "font character", but lately they are even getting animated!
Am still under shock:
this font-smilie system is definitely not just an upcoming hype anymore, but already the current smiley-standard! Never realized. Even when seeing a bunch of sophisticated smilies in modern apps, who would have guessed those are actually FONTS now, not IMAGES anymore?!

Yes a big prob is that they can look very different with different fonts used:
https://unicode-table.com/en/1F64B/
And the size seems quite tiny by default, so a nice set of normal image-smilies for forums is still needed. But as additional possibility those font-tricks are incredibly handy. Hundreds of exotic graphics possible *everywhere*, no need to upload an image to some server first, no prob later anymore with broken images and links. It just works everywhere, by merely coping a little text character. Even in plain text files it works! And wastes no server space either.
And not working on old systems either, but that train is long since departed. And it IS possible to get at least a bit basic support, in systems as old as Win98, with the help of this Symbola-font smiling smiley

For copy-paste such a page is handy:
http://classic.getemoji.com
Or for checking how it looks in other systems/apps:
https://unicode-table.com/en/blocks/emoticons/

For copy-paste....

Even though for Windows 98 it supports only until Unicode 5.1 (we are in 9.0), you can use BabelMap. Or maybe it does run the newest, but I doubt it. Even for Windows 2000, from 9.0.0.1 to 9.0.0.3 he dropped the possiblity to run it (not valid Win32 application) without change the .exe :/

I uploaded the version 9.0.0.1 of BabelMap, compressed with UPX to save disk space, as this is a Win32 compatible application and maybe could work with kernelex in Windows 98. I have no idea, anyway, but you could give a try.

http://www.mediafire.com/file/0d7jfq7y2y29cjn/babelmapupx+9.0.0.1+2016-07-03+unicode+9.0.7z

I also contacted the developer and the next version should be compatible with Windows 2000 too. He changed the compiler, as I guessed and didn't enable the compatibility.

Thanks for the tip! We have a quite similar taste in apps smiling smiley

Have tried BabelMap yesterday, the version from the homepage, and the current Version9 didn't even start. With or without KernelEx. He's also offering an old Version5 for Win9X on the website, but that one is so extremely outdated and old, it's a joke (8 years old, most emojis missing).
Long standing grudge, I'll never understand why it goes without saying that someone saying "XP" probably means SP2 or even SP3, but when it comes to win98 all app developers always mean ONLY the very first initial version sad smiley As if it never would have gotten any MS updates ever.
Anyway, then tried to find the previous version somewhere, and got it only from un unknown risky website. Just hope it's clean, and turns out this version8 does run without ANY probs and even without needing kernelex in windows98se!
Except the window is a bit too high, and that size is hardcoded, but suspect that's probably not system related.

Exactly what I needed! Took a bit experimenting, but then found it can do nearly everything, especially can paste a sign or 'rectangle' from some website and BabelMap then tells what it is smiling smiley
emojipedia.org can do that too, needing JS, but greatly prefer a little local tool.

Then tried BabelPAD too, but that's a harder nut. Also had to take the previous version8. At first it looks fine, menus and all. But when opening a sub sheet like for "searching" CTRL+F, all texts consist only of underscores "____"

Never mind, BabelMAP was much more important and this one works (almost) fully smiling smiley

You could always use archive.org, if the page is available, as a clean source:
https://wayback.archive.org/web/20160428103016/http://www.babelstone.co.uk:80/Software/BabelMap.html

And if you don't trust the file, use sites as Jotti winking smiley:

TIP: if your paste and then click F2 key, it will search it too.

Major pity, the icons don't load anymore sad smiley

Because postimg.org had started adding very obnoxious ads to the displayed images, which got their domain banned from some major sites and forums, and now their domain is just dead. As first aid, they renamed themselves from
postimg.ORG --> postimg.CC
Replacing this URL in the image links makes all icons appear again.

Attached is a tiny html test-page, it just contains links to all icons with their new URL.

BUT:
even just loading this test page online, then saving it to disk, automatically CONVERTS all the direct IMAGE LINKS into lots of litte html-pages! What a bad trick from their server sad smiley

(Workaround: Clear Cache, block javascript, load testpage again, set KM OFFLINE, then save it to disk)

It's just too bad that this forum doesn't have more own, and nice smileys sad smiley

Finally (re?)discovered the Phorum default smilies!
And except just two younger ones, they actually work here too!

Hmm... then again... perhaps old news? Dimly remember something... and some of those pics are also long since contained in my own modified macro, oh well. But never mind. Still good to have them as a little image list displayed here.

Normal image names:
. . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . .

stupid, name only numbers (smiley12.gif etc.):
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

They are included in the Phorum-package, from here:
https://www.phorum.org/downloads.php

Actually I had downloaded and unzipped them already a few years ago, but at the time RL was extremely busy, so didn't get around to examine that package further and later just forgot.

Must admit am not crazy about all of those pics, still sorely missing a few favorite ones from good old bbcode forums, but still a bit more choice now. And another prob: those number names are pointless if the images can't be loaded for whatever reason sad smiley

Another good one, located in help path:
