Allow me to search with the search engine that K-Meleon is configured to use with the text in it when nothing is in it stating "Search with NAMEOFSEARCHENGINE".

Are you aware that you can just as well click the search button, if nothing is currently selected? Then it pops up the search bar.
Or type your search into the URL-bar and then click the search button, just as you would type it into a search bar.
And when right-clicking the button, you can first choose another search engine.

If before there was any text on the page selected, clicking the button also starts the search.

Unless - it may not work anymore that way with KM74??

It works in 74 just as siria wrote.

You can put item in URL bar or just highlight item if it appears on page. When you click the button the search is done for the item with the default engine.

If you click the button with nothing highlighted, you will get a field where you can enter your item.

It is even possible to do a search using multiple search engines from the TOOLS - WEB SEARCH menu.

The right click menu allows you to change search engines for the current search. That does not change the default. Once you choose an engine, it produces the field where you can enter the item for which you wish to search.

The k-plugin form K-Meleon Extensions Centrsl may give you a search bar.

I know it works for K-Meleon 1.2.x - 1/5.x and it may work with K-Meleon 74

You download it from the location below.

http://kmext.sourceforge.net/kplugs/searchbar.7z

If it does not work you may have to add some tweaks or fixes from some of the files.

I have just tried the search bar kplugin and it works perfectly with K-Meleon 74.

The only issue I have with it is that the text inputted into its toolbar gets bigger every so often. That is why I am wanting a macro that duplicates its functionality.

There is anoher Kplugin called "Search Bar Plus" which works for K-Meleon 1.1.x - 1.6.x located at http://kmext.sourceforge.net/kplugs/searchbarplus.7z

It workss better becuase you can select the search engine from the searc bar.

And only file needed is the Kplugin. no macro or java script file needed unlike the the other search bar Kplugin.

And the text does seem to get bigger in the search bar.
