Hello there, I didn't know where exactly to post this so I choose this board.

1 - Can you give me a link to a tutorial for making themes?
I've modified the default theme but there are some stuff I would like to know

2 - Can you give me a list of all 'about' pages? Like about:blank, about:home

3 - Does K-Meleon have some plugin/macro/extension that can save web pages as PDF? Just like Google Chrome, when you press Ctrl+P and then select "Save to PDF".

I downloaded a tool pack named "Portable Apps" that added a menu item named "Convert to PDF" under "Edit" menu. It does its job, sends me to a webpage that converts the page I want, but I would like K-Meleon to do it by himself.

4 - I recently downloaded two files from the link of the signature of the user "rodocop" called "Portable Flash plugin (x86/x64 DLLs)"

I'm using the x86 version, it drops 2 files that I move to /kplugins: "FlashPlayerPlugin_28_0_0_126.exe" and "NPSWF32_28_0_0_126.dll" so the question is: Is there something else I must do in order to get it working? 'cause I look into about:plugins and I see

1. It's easier for me to tell you this part in russian - on the rus KM forum or elsewhere you are ready to get it.

2. Just go to about:about page. They all are linked there.

3. No inbuilt way but the bookmarklets for different web-services. KM has'n it's own PDF renderer.

4. Portable flash plugin (dll-file) should be placed in plugins folder - not kplugins!
Or in browser\plugins like I do.

5. V.75.1 isn't developed now and some recent fixes aren't available for it.

But Pro-build itself is developed anyway and we have KM 76 Pro and later will be KM 77 Pro (Goanna-based)

5 - I will download this tomorrow, probably. My internet comes from a data card which is a little expensive (I live in Venezuela) so I use it only for browsing. I go to cyber-cafés when I want to download something. Dammit I was there and I forgot to download it

When I get the new KM76, can I copy my cookies from KM75 over to KM76? No security or expiration problems?

I. Normal old skin

1.) You would take the old skin that You want to update.

2.) They basically work out of the box. Copy in location that is it.

Now one or the other macro's may have changed and a button then does not work.

Then You would scavenge new code not from default but from Klassic.

p.s. More than 100 old skins exist. Disadvantage. They cannot be rescaled because they are no PNG based skins.

How toos for that are ancient - and probably hidden in old sections of Forum and Wiki. But they are still the same. Only the code comes from current Klassic.skin

Attached a skin I use that is like that.

II. New default skin

1.) You would use the content of default skin. That is a totally other skin type.

2.) You scavenge a Firefox or Pale moon theme for the needed new PNG.

3.) Then You must look the default skin.cfg and alter the names of the bitmaps used in in to the names used in Your skin.

Maybe You must change some sizes in the code section too.

p.s. Many Firefox and Pale Moon exist. But nobody has AFAIK written a how too.

I started the pre works to update one skin that I like but have stopped because I had private works/chores. So I have no experience with the difficulties.

Near Valencia AFAIK.

You can continue to use the whole old profile if You want!

Procedure for portable on USB. Start the new Goanna based one, close it.
Open the new profile and the old. Then copy all of the old profile over.

That give You cookies etc.

You can also synchronize USB and local one like that.

I haven't downloaded the version 76 yet, but now you are motivating me.

And about themes, I've been browsing the site for some themes, but most of them give errors. I'm actually using a modified version of the default skin

Yes AFAIR most are from older versions of K-Meleon and code section in toolbars.cfg must be partly updated.

AFAIR The last update of almost all old skins' toolbars.cfg that I have done was to K-Meleon 1.6.

Hey I just downloaded K-Meleon 76 Pro RC and extracted it in its own folder, but I just noticed I can't open my old K-Meleon 75.1, I have to run it through Process Explorer XP because when I double-click k-meleon.exe (75.1) the new KM 76 Pro shows up. I want to run both of them, how can I do it?

Nevermind, I found the fix myself I must close KM76 before opening KM75.1 and vice-versa.

Just create shortcuts for every instance with parameter -new

As rodocop pointed out. K-Meleon has a parameter that allows You to run more than one instance of K-Meleon.

The condition is that each instance that is running needs its own profile.

Most people use that to start different versions. Examples from my desktop.

C:\KM-Goanna-20180128\KM-Goanna\k-meleon.exe -new

E:\K-Meleon76Beta\k-meleon.exe -new

E:\K-Meleon74.7+1\k-meleon.exe -new


But AFAIR user siria runs different instances of the same K-Meleon install with different profiles that have different settings. This is done by creating a shortcut and then add -new and the parameter which profile to start.

There are several such parameters. They are documented locally on Your hdd.


example /KM-Goanna/browser/defaults/commands.html#l_cmdlineopt
