Does anyone if there is a way to get Roboform (www.roboform.com) to work in K-Meleon?

I talked to Roboform and got this answer,

"William replied (2004/07/13 05:39 pm EST):
this will not be supported, it does not allow any 3rd party tools."

Is this true?

I thought that's what the external program control plugin was for. It's what allows strokeit to work in KM. Maybe he means some other method. I don't know.

hi emil,
AFAIK it works. but i am not 100% sure.

if roboform is a netscape plugin type dll - it can be used with k-m.
just look whether they support Netscape browsers or Opera (they do).

If roboform.exe makes trouble create a netscape.exe in k-m folder.
You must also check on button near the bottom during install saying something about netscape support.

There was an post about it 2 months or so ago,
maybe check search machine of forum and look for details.
greetings

Thanks for your replys, I tried to install in with the "netscape.exe"-trick but it did not work. The DLL files and everything was in their right folders but it didnt work anyway. sad smiley

I did send Roboform a reply:

"You wrote (2004/07/13 05:47 pm EST):
But take a look at this:
"K-Meleon uses the same plug-in architecture as Netscape/Mozilla to interact with ThirdPartyPlugins."
http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/resources.php"

And got this answer:

"William replied (2004/07/13 08:08 pm EST):
let's not discuss topics that you do not have sufficent info about.
if your answer does not sui you, i change it to:
" we do not support K-Meleon"."

Oh well, guess I have to wait until K-Meleon will get roboform support, it will probably happen sooner or later, I hope winking smiley

hi Emil,
normaly - grumbel kick his ass - but there is no comparable product?
Small monopolist seem to be worse than big ones - eh?

before k-m 0.8.2 i always installed my k-m plugins into a real Netscape or Opera folder - that was easier than to trick the different install routines. Next i would transfer/copied the whole plugins directory with plugins that were working to plgugins ind directory of k-m. k-m recognized them - as his own.

Well You can still try to get it working with a Netscape 7.1 or whatever they support
- and then try to pull the same trick?

If it does do no harm since You will have to install it somewhere to use, why not try?

about actual install i checked an older post - sorry it was in German - i translate:

1.) install robo-main exe
2.)close browser and fast loader
3.)install AiRoboForm-Netscape-Adapter.exe. // install mentioned adapter
// probably downloaded and in folder.

when Marty had the same problem he did not write again -> so i assume he was
successful - that is the troubel if people give no feedback - we just assume.
since i am from Europe i answer early - if it does not work! tell forum it does not!
there are 24 time zones - and maybe someone else knows!

greetings from Hannover

Hi again.
I tried copy all files that had anything with Roboform to do, from both Netscape and Mozilla, it didnt work. sad smiley

Then I tried to copy ALL files from Mozilla and Netscape and replace K-Meleons files. K-Meleon did still start, everything was a bit messed up but Roboform still wasnt there, heh.

Then I tried to install Roboform direct in K-Meleons folder. And when I install the Roboform adapter, I can choose for what gecko browser I want to install.
I tried all in the list:
Mozilla 1.4
Mozilla 1.6
Mozilla 1.7
Netscape 7.1
Firefox 0.8
Firefox 0.9
Firefox 0.9.1
Firefox 0.9.2

Everytime I installed it for a new browser-version I also uninstalled K-Meleon and installed it again just to keep it fresh.

But IT STILL DID NOT WORK! Gah! winking smiley

Thank you for trying to help me! =)

RoboForm is not a Mozilla plugin.

Roboform itself is an ActiveX control designed for Internet Explorer _only_.

Roboform Adapter for Mozilla makes RoboForm work with Gecko browsers (basically, it translates Mozilla DOM-model into IE interfaces). It uses some "know-how" to integrate to Mozilla, and utilizes Mozilla's XUL-based interface for that. It is _not_ a Mozilla plugin as well. It works directly with browser kernel.

K-Meleon has no such things, that's why Roboform cannot be integrated into K-Meleon - no way to attach to it taking access to document/browser DOM model.

If K-Meleon author would likes to integrate Roboform with his browser, he should contact Siber Systems and be ready to change K-Meleon code for that.

Again, my reply: no way to support K-Meleon without changes in K-Meleon code.

Regards, Sam
Siber Systems Inc.
