open background layer/layer tabs

I want to be able to right click on a link and then choose an alphanumeric (well, alpha) key to open the link on a background *layer* (not window). In Opera, the menu that pops up says "open in background page" and you can select "e". In k-meleon, I get the appropriate menu items, but there is no shortcut key for opening a layer in the background (just windows).
Also, is there a way to move the layer tabs to the bottom of the browser window, rather than at the top as they are now?
Thanks! Greg
See if this works.

Greg, I haven't tried this yet. It might work. Put it in your user.Chrome in your K-Meleon profile. You can open the file (Open with....) NotePad or whatever, and just edit it in and save it. Please post back to say if it works:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
/* Display the Tabbar at the bottom */
* #content > tabbox {-moz-box-direction: reverse;}
*/
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oops

Oh, oh. Greg, I posted that with the safety-catches on. That would store it in your file, but it wouldn't function. Sorry. Should be:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
/* Display the Tabbar at the bottom */
content > tabbox {-moz-box-direction: reverse;
}
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-- Is that right, guys?
Hmmm....

I tried it myself, Greg, but no go. Maybe it's too Firefoxy. Or maybe it's Close but not Quite. You can still see if it WFY.
-- Or someone else can suggest where I went wrong.

Thanks.

sorry for not paying attention proper.
just have a look into accel.cfg (to see what it does) and write your own shortcut.
in menus You can put a & in front of the submenus letter you want to function as
shortcut.
that is supposed to do the trick too. (take care no to use the same key twice).
regards

No, there isn't. K-Meleon uses native Windows widgets, and I don't think Windows normally supports placing toolbars in the bottom of windows.

Thanks Guenter, here's what worked so I can open layers as I wish using right mouse click and the key of my choice: I'm using 0.9b, and instead of editing accel.cfg, I edited the menus in configs, accessed from the Edit -> Preferences menu. I made "n" open link in new layer, and "e" to open link in background layer. Schweet!
