Dear friends,
This is the KM 0.9 with the latest Gecko 1.8b2. I'm using bleading Dorian's K-Meleon.exe which uses XUL download instead of K-Meleon's built-in one. Take a look and try it. Thanks for Dorian's great work!

There are still some bugs around in this exe. Please help to try and test it.
BTW, Guenter, we can probably consider making W-B update now.

we have fairly new chromes and all what it takes
except the know how to make changes in code.
what means bleading - You mean it still consumes memory? (sounds bad)
Xul based downloader sounds like we will get FF´s more flexible download dialoge
- (sounds good.)
the three dll files will be at the w-b download location.

Thank you both very much.
The build works very well, also with my modified configuration.
The history accelerator is still missing.
In this chrome, the history page is in "chrome://communicator/content/history/history.xul" .
An disadvantage there is, that you can't click on history links, but have to
copy them to the address bar.
I tried the chrome from 1.8b2-modified6, which is small, and has
history in the history.jar, in "chrome://history/content/history.xul".
Then I could click the links. It also contains aggreg8 already, but
flashblock is missing.
By adding "user_pref("browser.sessionhistory.max_viewers", 10);"
to prefs.js, the immediate back/forward feature can be enabled.
This makes it equal to Opera.
With the new k-meleon.exe, we have now got back all the possibilities
for further versions.
Thank you again for your important work !
Fred

sure - mail or home page?
i am downloading cygwin right now - so i will be near the pc for some time.
i asked You for some info about Your built config and setup via mail about a month ago, when will be up to current with answereing mail?
or did You loose mail while on holiday?
I think i have tried with an incomplete cygwin setup?
so i am downloading and installing the lot this time.
p. s. i am going out to the garden & back in .... i cut some keewee twigs - i also may have to cut some peach branches which hang down in front of the garage.
i will have the first tomatoes next week - the potatoes and the cherries are rubbish this year. I will have to take some potatoes out already becuase their leaves start to dry (this early! this year) so lots to do besides k-m and other pc things.

Hao,
Is there a way to disable this that's sort of like a popup which opens with
the browser? It asks you to download something. What is that for? Chinese
characters or Internat? Also does someone know how to use Internat. Can
it be turned off?
Is it possible to add metasearch to this browser?
That download page like Opera is really nifty.
You're right. This could be the fastest KM yet.
You're marvelous browsers are greatly appreciated and used by more than you know. They're always distributed to many friends. You're builds are on discs all over. P.S.Is it possible to place this and your future builds on the forum builds
list?
Guenter,
Please excuse my ignorance but what are keewee twigs? Yes I'm afraid I'm
new to gardening. What country is your garden in? Do you live in Germany?

Using it now, seems good so far.
The font download popup is because KM opens the about: page on the first run, and the about: page for this version obviously uses chinese characters or has it's character set set to chinese or something like that. (I wish there was a way to tell gecko browser to shut the F~ up about the "do you want to download this font/charset" crap. There should be a "yes" option, a "not right now" option, and a "I can't read that language, so why the hell would I want to download the friggin charset for it?!" option.)
Unle Hao changes the about page in future versions, there's no way to avoid that prompt on first run, nor when going to about:. However, you can prevent it from occuring when you open the browser later simply by setting a homepage (any homepage will do, even about:blank).

Now if I could just figure out how to disable the tarbet _blank "feature" in these 1.8 builds...
In all the 1.7x builds, links only open in a new layer when I tell them to. Despite copying all the settings from 1..7 over to 1.8 though, 1.8 still opens links in a new layer when the have target _blank set.

@ Drahken
If you want to open a "target_blank" link in a new window instead of a
layer, got to Options-->Browsing Options-->Layers and Windows.

The popup asks to download Chinese characters. From MS - they are free!
It can be a fault because i have Characters installed - and it still nagged me.
(i possibly do not have simplified Chinese? but traditional).
@Drakken: about blank: the setting is normally changed in Preferences/General
start/new window should disblay as... just set check mark to what You want.
I want blank page so i have not tried - or do You mean it does not work?
that is the user_pref("kmeleon.general.homePage", "about:"); that sets it
You can alter via user.js to
user_pref("kmeleon.general.homePage", "
http://home.htp-tel.de/sterntaler/"
;
my home page for example?
You can also alter about.xhtml which is in chrome/toolkit.jar/global - so that it does not ask for Chinese any more - that is what i did - & added Hao plus Dorian as responsible for this brew ; o ) (with 1.7 chromes about.xhtml = in en-US.jar/global - so that is where You get a example without Chinese easiest)
p.s. Hannover=de (htp is Hannover telefon company, de=Germany) Keewee (i pronounce the fruit like that, when i speak German and write English. In English probably spelled differently?) - also called (possibly only?) Chinese Gooseberry in English.
A plant that climbs threes and houses and makes a green (plum sized) edible fruit with many small black seeds and hair on the skin (in Polish possibly called kiwi) - the fruits are the latest to get ripe in Hannover because the plant comes from further south. Mine do not get fruit; either because the male plant is too far away or because my plant is too young?
I am given some fruits every year from the neighbor that has his garden on the other side of the road.

@fred No, no, no. I don't want it to open in a new layer NOR a new window. I want it to open in the current layer. In the 1.7x builds, I managed to achieve this effect (I just wish I knew how), and all non-javascript links open in the current layer unless -I- tell them to open in a new one. I can't get this same thing to work in the 1.8x builds though.
@guenter
1) It's about a 6meg or more download, I'm on dialup, that means an hour or so to download something that is absolutely useless to me.
2)
I can't read chinese, so why in the world would I want to waste my time installing chinese fonts?!?
3) The about:blank stuff: That's not what I'm talking about. When you put an HTML link in a page, you can set
target="_blank" This has the same effect as target="new_window", or target="[ANY NAME THAT ISN'T A FRAME ON THE PAGE]". When you left click on such a link, it'll open the link in a new layer or window (depending on your settings). I don't want that.
There's a value in the about:config that you can use to disable target="new_window" (browser.block.target_new_window), but it doesn't work for target="_blank". (I've tried adding browser.block.target_blank and browser.block.target__blank, but they have no effect.)

Hao,
When ever I click on a hyper-link to open a new page, K-MeleonCCF 0.03 alpha1 refuses to comply.
Whenever I click on a button, like the post button beloiw, it refuses to comply.
But when I right click and get the option to open in a new tab/layer, and then click that option, it complies.
Other than that quirk, which is a biggie for me, the browser is great.
BTW, this is being posted from K-Meleon 0.9 with thw 1.7.9 upgrade.

Hao,
I found the problem
It is in the greprefs/all.js file.
I copied one over from your CCF 0,03 build and it now works correctly.
Not sure what dialogue was involved, but with that particular file copied over the one in CCF 0.03 A1, I now have hyper-link clickability, as well as posting button capibility.
And I'm posting from the BLEEDING FAST Alpha1!

The not opening links in new layer/window seems to be an issue with the 1.8x engine, I've posted about it at mozillazine.
Whenever I install a new version of KM, I copy over all my prefs files as well as usercontent, macrofs, menus, etc. The new installation therefore has the exact same settings that existed in the previous ones. Those settings disable that obnoxious target="about_blank" crap in all the versions of KM which use a 1.7x GRE, but they don't have any effect on any of the ones that use a 1.8x GRE (I even tried your alpha3 with GRE 1.8b4 earlier today). The pref "browser.block.target_new_window" is supposed to disbale the target="_blank" crap (which it does in all pre-1.08x GREs), but it has no effect in the 1.8x ones.
Go to
http://lastknights.com and click on the "forum" link on the left. It will open in a new layer or window (depending on your settings). The pref I mentioned above should prevent it from doing that, but it doesn't. I can still middle click it to make it open in a background layer, but when I want it to open in the current layer, I'm screwed.
