I have uploaded a new version K-Meleon0.9-original-updated-1.7.12-plus2 .
Complete update to GRE 1.7.12 of nov/26th/2005.
Pop-up bug fixed by inclusion of two files from 1.7.5 and 1.7.8 .
Right click menu available.
It has some add-ons :
New Flashblock plugin by kko.
Mime Types Editor.
Aditional Javascript button.
Translation macro by jsnj.
Optional Active X Support.
New SetDefault.exe by Alain.
Some, but fewer search-engines.
Otherwise the look is the original one.

What is the the popup bug, and I can I see it?
What are the files you put from 1.7.5 and 1.7.8 ? gkwidgets? others?

1. Flashblock can be enabled/disabled from the browser.
-->Tools-->Privacy-->Permissions-->Flashblock
At the same place there is an alert, how to enable the
Acrive X Plugin, if desired by the user (by renaming it
int the plugins folder). Guenter would add later a whitelist,
to enable for example the Windows Media Player only.
2-5. The GRE is from nov/26th, except for two older files, which
are necessary to eliminate the pop-up bug, which annoys
some people, probably most of them on dial-up connections.
They report, that a minimized webpage pops up in front of an
other opened window, when it is completely loaded, and
again at every meta-refresh, that the webpage executes,
which cannot be easily filtered.
The two older files are gkwidget.dll from GRE 1.7.5, which
stops these pop-ups, but leads to disabling the right click
pop up menu of the mouse. It needs an older version of
gklayout.dll , from GRE 1.7.8, to enable the right click popup
menu.
I personally am not bothered much by the pop-up bug, and
use the full GRE 1.7.12 , but othered requested it arduously.
Besides that, it is a full 1.7.12 update, not just a partial one.
The about: calls up a file to indicate the date of the components.
This file is exactly the older file gklayout.dll, which is from
june/10th, while the other files are from nov/26th.
I have included some macros :
jsnj's Translation macro, and a few search macros.
A Metasearch, containing MSN, Yahoo, Teoma, Gigablast,
Google and Google Images , which open in 6 layers at
the same time. Google alone only covers a fraction of the web.
Besides the Metasearch I have added Google Groups and
Images and the very popular LEO Dictionary for English/German.
And I added of course also your new SetDefault.exe as
well as the MimeTypes editor.
The browser is basically unchanged from the original
old version, and much testing is not necessary in my opinion.
kmeleon.exe remains the same file as before.

Regards
Fred

Good work Fred!

So, it's supposed that your version is betterly updated than those that uses the Brian Brun's 1'7'12b patch? Do you use more the newer files than Brian?

How many old files (and how old) uses Brian and, if you or everyone knows, how does it affect the browser to use older files?

You can see in your own version, which uses the other update,
that 73 of 127 files in components are from 1.7.5 .
This must not necessarily be dangerous, but you cannot control,
what else has been changed by the Mozilla people, a work,
that we here cannot do. An update to 1.7.12 should ideally
contain all the files.
Because of the pop-up bug it was necessary this time to
use 2 old files : gkwidget.dll from 1.7.5, and to get the right
click context menu back also gklayout.dll from 1.7.8, which was
the last one that works together with gkwidget.dll. It differs only
slightly in size from the latest .dll version.
To have a history box, it was always necessary to keep
embed_lite.dll from the 1.7.5 version, because it is not in GRE
anymore.
All the other files are updated to GRE 1.7.12, and I think that
is how it should be as a basic principle.

So you did use 2 or 3 old files (the embed_lite.dll you use is from the 1.7.5?)

Anyway, I think you're right. The less old files the better. And if you've been able to remove the bug with only 2 or 3 old files, hooray for you!

Also, I would like to say that IMHO the flashblock and java buttonshould not be added to an official version. I think this is more to advanced users, and advanced users will build his own K-Meleon anyway.

Flashblock enabling is not in a button, but only a menu item, because
this will not be changed very often.
But the Javascript button is very useful, because you do not need
to enable the Privacy bar all the time, or go to the Preferences Panel,
to control javascript.
Personally, I almost always turn javascript off, except for a couple
of pages, where it is really needed. It is also a matter of security,
because most attacks only work through javascript. So I want the
color of the button, to control, what I am doing. To disable the
button, just unhook it in Toolbars. It is not easy to establish such
a button yourself, not even as an advanced user.

So, why don't use NoScript, I have test it and it works well, exactly the way you want to use javascript.

It could be added, if it shows to be stable, and everybody
thinks that this would be ok.

It seems to be stable, but a thing which is lacking is the blacklist. For the button and the menu which appears in status bar of Firefox, as it' would be nice, we can make without.

Blacklist seems to be included in future version.
