Well, I actually find myself going back and forth now. While I prefer Opera overall at this point, the configuration options are a bit questionable. For example, I can't import an ad-block filter -- every ad must be blocked by hand. (although I'm working on adapting a Filterset.G list at the moment) With K-Meleon, I had all my policies set up perfectly -- I could block referers, ads, po

I've been having an affair with another browser. Although K-Meleon has reserved a special place in my heart all this time, I'm afraid to admit that I've outgrown her. Now, I know we've had our ups and downs, but Opera knows how to please me most. Forgive me!

Since K-Meleon integrates itself into Windows' API so well, (a bit too well!) I would like to inquire about a few skinning problems I've had while attempting to design my own: - Is it possible to get rid of the handles? They appear or don't appear depending on the Windows system in question, and third-party skinning programs (such as WindowBlinds) can alter Windows' API en

Your toolbar configuration file is off somewhere. To use another theme in the meantime, copy it into your skins directory, delete the corrupt theme folder, and rename the theme folder you just copied over with the old theme name. (so K-Meleon loads it upon starting up)

QuoteRobertI think you want alt V - Toolbars - Lock toolbars This will make them disappear. The toolbars are already locked. Either way, the issue seems to be fixed now. Since I started using WindowBlinds, K-Meleon has better adapted to my API. I guess it's an issue with the Windows' API itself, and not K-Meleon.

I just recently reformatted my computer and upgraded from 2000 to XP. Naturally, I just copied and pasted my entire K-Meleon directory as back-up. But now I'm having a weird issue with text zooming -- K-Meleon automatically enlarges pages for no apparent reason. It seems to be on an entirely random basis, so I have no idea what might be the cause. Any ideas?

I think it has something to do with the version of K-Meleon used by Hao. His version supports a few features that the official doesn't, but I'm not sure why he included a different method of working with Windows' API. Either way, I think it's definitely more efficient than the official build.

I adapted a few Firefox skins a short while back, and while they looked good on my system, (CCF on Win2k) I'm noticing two problems: 1.) Handle bars appearing on XP systems. 2.) Handle bars appearing on official K-Meleon builds. This looks quite off on skins such as iFox Smooth, whereas I intended for the whole navigation bar to be smooth.

QuotecreswellnetI wonder if part of Grendels problem was closing down K-Meleon, but leaving the quick start program open? Are you referring to the loader? It's not distributed with CCF, so I don't use it. I don't really see any need for it, anyway. K-Meleon actually loads much faster than IE.

guenter, that sounds like an interesting idea. It might also help if we could get some information added in the Wiki about manually backing up profiles -- maybe a quick and simple walkthrough. (is anything like this already in the Wiki? Sorry... I haven't noticed)

QuotePeabodyA note to Grendel: use the user.js file to preserve certain settings. Then move your bookmarks and cache directories out of your profile directory. If I remember correctly, I just moved the Profiles folder and the prefs folder to every new installation. (I'm guessing they contained all the necessary files) I wanted to preserve all my filters and such -- for example, my manual c

QuoteDorianIf none of those confirmed Bugs/RFE you're talking about are in the bug tracker, they're most likely not going to be fixed. I'm not sure how to report bugs, other than mentioning them somewhere here in the forums. QuoteDon't blame kmeleon about the profile problem. There is probably something to prevent mozilla from loading your profiles but it has nothing to d

QuotekkoClose K-Meleon before copying the profile, never copy a profile that is in use. I always make sure to terminate every instance of K-Meleon before copying any of my files over. Could there be any other possible reasons? QuoteFredIf you have too many problems with K-Meleon, before giving K-Meleon up completely, why not try my simplified version for Linux/Wine. It works even there, and

QuotevpowellThe best way to transfer bookmarks is to copy the bookmarks.html file itself into the new profile folder By the way, I wanted to mention that I'm still having problems with this. I'm not sure if it's related to bookmarks, per se, but any time I try to migrate my whole profile over I get problems. Even if I simply copy my bookmarks over to the new version, they usually

Vincent, there are actually far more issues than mentioned in this thread, but I've actually lost count of them all! I'm sure they're scattered somewhere throughout this forum, as I've tried bringing them up in the past. I have found some useful support from some of the users, but between manually reconfiguring every new distribution, I lose memory of all the scripts and files

I hate to say it, but I am fed up with configuring K-Meleon. The reason why I abandoned Firefox in the first place is because I did not like the cross-platform XUL bloating memory usage. K-Meleon was a breathe of fresh air, considering that it takes advantage of Windows' native API, thus running more efficiently. With Firefox, there was so much lag that I had to wait minutes inbetween loadin

It seems like Hao Jiang is very busy lately, so I'll just see if any of you can help me with a small question... I remember one of the older CCF builds including the NoScript Firefox extension, adapted for use with K-Meleon. Does anyone remember which version I'm thinking of?

Two more forums for extensions / macros and unofficial builds would be handy, but the forum doesn't get much traffic as it is. I doubt an off-topic discussion forum would be very practical, either.

Brian, I didn't notice this file anywhere. I checked ShareAza's Wiki and it mentions that the download manager feature is only compatible with IE. With configuration, it can be made compatible with Firefox: http://wiki.shareaza.com/static/DownloadManager.Firefox However, this requires the FlashGot extension and manual configuration of it. Any ideas?

ShareAza - http://www.shareaza.com/ I use this to handle all of my torrent files, but would like to use it as a my download manager with K-Meleon. ShareAza has a feature which allows this, but I'm not sure how to configure it to work with K-Meleon, or vice versa. Let me try to give a run down of the settings menu associated with using it as a download manager: Under "Web" in

I'm not very savvy when it comes to adapting Firefox plug-ins or third-party programs to work with K-Meleon, so I need some help from the community. http://tor.eff.org/ What I would like to do is find a way to configure this to work with K-Meleon. It seems like the easiest way is to adapt the Firefox plug-in included with the program, but I'm not certain how this is achieved. E

I'm having a problem with K-Meleon hanging up in memory after I close the browser. This only occurs after I attempt to load particular sites which use some kind of script. I'm not entirely certain what, or why it's causing a problem, but here is an example site I have issues with: http://www.enigmamusic.com/news/news.html If I attempt to load this page, then close K-Meleon at a

I'm using a custom version of 2000. (nLite) I've used XP in the past, but utterly hated it. SP2 only made it even worse. I find it odd that the service pack won't even allow you to install certain "questionable" applications (i.e., Alcohol 120%) without getting a blue screen of death.
