I haven't had this problem, per se, but I've had problems w/ the latest K-M versions when re-using previous profiles. Suggest you rename your current K-M folder to keep it "safe" and install K-M to a new folder and with a new profile.

@ desga2 I'm also finding that Windows keeps a great deal of info in the \windows\prefetch folder regardless of the program's portability. Info is available therein for many programs that leave nothing else on the hard drive when run from an USB stick. Rgds,

@ desga2, Quotedesga2 Do someone know if Thunderbird portable use xpcom_core.dll file and if this generate a empty Mozilla folder in APPDATA folder? Portableapps version contains regular TB program; TB program uses uses xpcom_core.dll TB Mozilla program, using the -profile "path" command line argument and the latest 2.++ version of the TB program found at Mozilla, loads two fol

@ JamesD My K-M on Kingston DataTraveler USB, XP, Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz, start-up from click to home page is about 7 seconds.

@desga2 Sorry, I can't be of much help on the portableapps version. I don't use the programs that they repackage, most of which can be run from a USB without their particular formating scheme - as you well know with K-M. I suspect - but don't know for sure - that some of the programs found on their site use scripts in the start-up exe file to clean-up after the programs just

@ desga2 @ JamesD Using desga2's xpcom-core.dll file mod, I only seem to notice the lag on the 1st url that is opened - perhaps 2 to 3 seconds (a guess). Once you move on to the second url, the speed seems to be the same as the original xpcom-core.dll file - or at least I can't tell the difference. I switched the two files perhaps a dozen times and it seemed to be rather consisten

@ desga2 Quotedesga2 @ gvgerman: Can your problem is originated by my modified xpcom-core.dll file for K-Meleon portable? The profile back-up macro works with either xpcom-core file, yours or the original. A clean install fixed all.

@ JamesD Thanks. I did a clean install and all is working as before - meaning as intended. I should have tried this first. Thanks, again,

@ desga2, I also confirm that it works. Well done! I find that using it seems to result in a delay, though, when the first url site is opened vs. the original file. Does this seem possible? Thanks,

@ JamesD On another macro matter, are you experiencing issues w/ 1.5.2RC and KmmResProfile? When I use it, I get an error message that Windows can not find the path to ResProfile.js I have both ResProfile.kmm and ResProfile.js located in the macros folder w/in the profile. I am using a local profile, ala Pocket K-Meleon. I've not had issues until recently (I know the macro worked w/

The link "Mark All Messages Read" at the bottom of an open forum page is broken. For instance, at the bottom of an open General Discussion Forum, the url address is: http: //kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/ list.php?1 (NOTE: space was added after http: to keep the url address visable in this message.) The "Mark Forum Read" links on the Forum List page do indeed work for al

IMHO, K-M run with a portable / relative profile provides the best trade-off on speed, size, usability, feature availability, and data left on the computer. An empty K-M folder or an empty Mozilla folder (depending on the dll) is insignificant - and if it is bothersome, use a program like Portidy to remove the dummy folder "automatically" when the USB is disconnected. The method described by desga2 works well. Quotedesga2 I don't think that a K-Meleon 1.5 portable version is needed. You can convert standard K-Meleon 1.5 in portable easilly. 1) Download 7z file (K-Meleon without installer), and 7z localization package if you like it. 2) Unzip 7z files in your USB memory. 3) Download or copy from your computer the needed libraries (msvcp71.dll, ms

Wladimir, I installed 0.7.5.5+ over the older installation and, using Easy filter, blocking of ads works well, as always. The preferences screen at Tools > AdBlock Plus... certainly seemed to work as intended. With regard to the ABP red stop sign logo on the tool bar: - If I left click on the ABP logo, I get the block-able items screen - If I right click on the ABP logo, I get

If you are using AdBlock Plus, my experience has taught me to install new KM versions in a new folder, open / run new KM to create the new profile, and install AdBlock Plus into the new KM before you begin copying your profile files into the appropriate new KM profile folders.

I'd like to echo Terry's congratulations to Dorian, kko, and everyone else who contributed to making KM so good. Like Terry, I also find vs. 1.5.1 to be noticeably faster on a USB stick and on a USB hard drive than vs. 1.5 IMHO, no other browser comes close to KM 1.5.1 on speed, size, usability, and flexibility. Cheers!

Do a clean install of K-M and create a new profile. Then install AdblockPlus. Either Alain's version (Jujuland) or Palant's version will work.

Quick search bookmark for Cuil: "http://www.cuil.com/search?q=%s" - do not use quote marks; set Nick as desired, for instance c or perhaps cuil To add to K-Meleon search preferences, remove the %s from the url; navigate to: Edit > preferences > browsing > finding websites > search engines > add The advantage to using quick search bookmarks is the availability i

K-Meleon's CSS blocking filter can be created using preferences (F2) and you must "build it" yourself - which can be tricky. If you are of the mindset that filtering is desireable, then AdblockPlus is easier IMHO. AdblockPlus uses a filter subscription that is maintained by others that covers many of the typical items folks want to block. You can add blockable elements to the fil

@bill It appears you are using KM1.5 in the "portable" or "pocket" mode, i.e.- the profile directory is located in your install folder. The profile file suggested by desga2 should indeed be in your install directory. You can create the file with a text program (Notepad, for instance) and then rename it to "profile.ini". This file tells K-M where to look for t

@alain, Thank you for your reply. I installed your extension and it is working well. Actually, now that I know how the spell checker works, the zip file approach did not work, in retrospect. Thank you - and guenter! - for all the work you do here with KM. Much appreciated!

@alain: @guenter: I've unzipped the Mozilla spellchecker found on Alain's site into my KM folder and - after restart - the plugin was found and I have found the feature in the "right-click" menu, but could not figure out how to make it actually work. So, I'm certain I am not doing all the steps to complete the installation. Any guesses as to what I might be missing wou
