Thanks guys I always learn something new from your responses. I'm taking the ez way out... just copied my portable backup to USB stick. It should work for a while. I think the issue arose when I shut down computer without exiting k-meleon. Either that or I have too many RSS feeds packed into NewsFox. Mind you, a bum web site might have done it. The computer in question is old...

I keep getting that "send to Microsoft" crash report and K-Meleon won't start. I spent a lot of time customizing so don't want to start from scratch. Might there be a simple file I can copy from a freshly downloaded version to fix the problem? I'm pretty sure I have a backup of 75.1 portable on my external HD but it's upstairs, I'd have to get out the USB st

Interesting... so IBM thought it was obsolete and then realized it might have a future?

Thanks guys for both your replies. I already have the button visible so what I did was download the older K-Meleon and simply added the file. I wanted to keep "mail" functional so left it, instead of replacing it. With the added file, I did this edit: ***** NewsFox{ # For K-Meleon 1.5 and newer macroinfo=_("Open NewsFox for reading news feeds"); &NewsFox11; }

I can access NewsFox by right clicking "Read Mail" icon and then clicking menu. But I'd like to access it directly from orange "Read Rss Feeds" icon. Is there any easy way? I'm probably missing something right under my nose.

Oh I see. well, even though I couldn't write the code, I find it interesting to see some of the underlying logic as indicated at that web site. And as I say, it got me thinking about macros, which I then figured out. So it's all good. Any replies are always appreciated. K-Meleon is enabling me to get more life out of an old laptop with only 512mb ram and an AMD sempron processor. I

Cool that would be nice to try. Btw, I just tried aforementioned macro again and it posted article title and shortened url. So for now I am very happy!

Thanks I didn't really understand how to implement the link you gave. But it looks perfect. However, the very word "macro" got me searching and I found this, which is good. Web Bookmark | Web Bookmark Plus at http://kmext.sourceforge.net/ext4.htm The other method is to use "Send Page as Link" to tweet@tweet

After a few days of trying out all sorts of RSS solutions, I came across NewsFox which for me is the best app or add-on I've tried. But I haven't been able to find an easy Share on Twitter add-on for K-Meleon... like this https://browsernative.com/share-on-twitter/ Any suggestions? I'm not a coder so it has to be simple.

QuoteJohnHell Quotemsea Sometimes it seems that some sellers go through rubbish bins and get stuff, selling it as new. Don't even doubt it. Amazon is not what it used to be, all new products and sold by Amazon. Now, with sellers around the globe trying to sell things with the Amazon Marketplace help, this has become an issue. So that, that a few days ago I read Amazon was going to take

Thanks guys I already got a full refund... or so Amazon says. I haven't checked my bank statement yet. Sometimes it seems that some sellers go through rubbish bins and get stuff, selling it as new. I think cheap cables and joiners (e.g. F to F) are a fairly safe bet, though. One time I got a full refund because the product didn't arrive within the arrival window. A week later the

QuoteYogi I'm not the right person for help, since I'm not a hardware geek. AFAIK you can't increase RAM arbitrary if your motherbord/chipset doesn't support it. Make sure first how much max RAM your motherbord/chipset is designed to support. Thanks... the machine is supposed to handle 2 gb max. That much I am certain. I ordered 2gb RAM (2 x 1gb) thru Amazon. I matched all the specs, as far as I know. And it fits. The computer beeped 4 or 5 times when I tried it. I tried all combinations with my previous RAM (2 x 256mb). I cleaned the RAM contacts. (Even tho it was supposed to be new, it didn't look new and wasn't packaged like new). So maybe it was defective. Or maybe there is some other way I

Thanks for the tip. Because this particular machine is only 512mb ram I'm really trying to keep this installation as light as possible. I have another old computer that has about 1.5 gb ram. I plan to use this newer browser on it too. So maybe I'll give it a try then! I spent a little time and got the 512 computer set up nicely. Once again... K-Meleon helps me to recycle instead of b

Thank you. I was tempted to try by trial and error but thought I might mess it up. I will try the items you suggest and nothing more. Makes sense, since they are different version #s... not to just copy the entire folder!

Thank you so much. It's working great with WinXp.. faster than firefox 38 and easy to switch images on and off. Much appreciated. I like this browser. Am wondering if it's easy to import bookmarks and other browser settings from 75.1 to 76RC2?

I've got NPSWF32_25_0_0_148.dll in a plugins folder. Not sure if Flipboard.com uses flash or not but I'm just getting a blank page (Win XP 512 RAM). Flipboard works on same computer with Firefox portable. So I'm thinking I should be able to get it in K Meleon..? Any suggestions welcome. - edit - updated flash plugin but same blank screen :O

Quotesiria Quotemsea Xubuntu recognizes my Tenda (Ralink) USB wifi and I'm very happy with it! Still quite a lot to figure out but I think I'm over the steepest part of the learning curve! Yay! I was considering buying a chromebook for simple blogging, research. No need now! Ancient old Desktop is doing the trick. 1.5 gb ram and it's fine. (just adjusted the posting title)

Quotesiria @msea since you mentioned a few times that you overlook lots of stuff when reading, just in case, you may have wondered where your previous postings have gone. Here's the splitted link again, to continue your personal Linux adventure in one thread together Click on "thread", this was a link (although looks like text only): QuoteJujuLand Now in this thread @Alain

I am using it now. really enjoying it. Got WiFi working and am learning the general logic. (new to me). Also have extended monitors as like Windows. I have very low RAM... the biggest problem... so am using Midori right now. Next I have to increase the resolution of my extended VGA. I am stuck at 1024 x 768 right now.. Otherwise, lots of fun thanks for mentioning it. Total fresh instal.

QuoteJujuLand Linux 'Simple Scan' seems not to be able to find the Canon 9000f scanner, but it seems that installing the linux canon drivers + a Canon proprietary program scangearmp works. You can see this thread here (in french): https://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=1693101 Another search where it seems to have solutions (in english) with 'Simple scan': http:/

9000F really nice one. Does slides! ANyhow, I am stoked as they say. I'm in the basement doing some laundry... still cold but what the heck. I've got my old computer running and am looking into doing Xubuntu from a flash drive instal. I don't want to waste a CD. I'll probably do a parallel install if I can. And then if I like it, do it all over again on a formatted HD.

QuoteYogi It's a matter of personal preference. I've never installed the install package for Flash from Adobe (Macromedia). I always only download the stand-alone plugin (NPSWF32.dll). That's how I'm using Flash with K-Meleon, Opera Presto and Firefox ESR since ages. For Firefox you will also need FlashPlayerPlugin.exe to be placed next to NPSWF32.dll. The pedantic way wi

A few days ago I think I saw a thread about portable flash or embedding flash in K-Meleon so it works like firefox's flash. (?) I just searched and couldn't find the thread. I'm using the latest version of flash and everything's fine. I am just wondering if there would be any advantage to using a portable/embedded flash, right in K-Meleon? And if so, how does one do it?

I just browsed over this and saw some very interesting titles. Many of the sci-fi titles brought back fond memories. These days I find myself watching sci-fi on TV more than reading books. Time... But I do have an impressive store of reference and scholarly books. One that I'm reading now, if anyone happens to be interested in ancient Roman religion (that is, pagan beliefs and practices o

That's interesting to hear the economics and buying/disposing patterns in your country. It seems like very high at first and then next to nothing. Swiss banks are gold standard. I believe your currency is strong? So why the massive initial price? I mean, our initial price was high but not that high. And we usually have a 25% weaker dollar than the US dollar. Not always mind you, for a while

Quotepanzer Just my 2 cents on the matter: don't believe Western mainstream media because they are paid or own by elites who want you to be like sheeps: dumm and guided by shepherds (them). Unless you are interested in sport results. Then reading them is no problem. Unless some of the sports are rigged! They used to do it in horse racing...

Wow thank you so much. It's an HP printer and Canon scanner, so hopefuly I'll be able to match up that particular Canon. I really appreciate all the info and links. When I give it a shot I'll come back here as my point of departure! The computer in question is in the basement. Quite cold right now as we're going thru unusually cold winter weather here. So I'll wait
