Does this version need a special SetDefault.exe? I used 1.3.1.6 under kernelX, which always worked for KM1.6 derivatives, and it won't start properly from a protocol (http:// link) in other applications, (Kmeleon 1.7) complaining of an XPCOM error and that the GRE is not loaded or something like that. as far as I can tell, only spaces work as seperators, it is okay to have multiple spaces, commas don't work at all. this agrees with mozilla documentation. so there is no real issue other than the one you identified, that a pref may be overwritten on startup. but it sounds like you don't really want to post it, and i have no preference, so i am not going to post it. thanks for helpin

press F2 for preferences, there under Browsing is a File Handling dialog. find the entry for pdf and edit it. you will see the possibility of launching it in any program which you can locate on your hard disk, maybe the 3rd option. if you want it to appear embedded in a page, like adobe usually does, you will need a plugin to render it from the new application. good luck with that, hopefully
