See the general forum for the microrss thread, or perhaps the extension forum if the admins move it as I propose... 1.7beta on my site. Thank you for trying.

okay got the fix. will try it 2moro, too sleepy tonight. found some other really weird behavior change between 1.5 and 1.6, haven't diagnosed it yet, could be 3rd party cross site priveledges are looser, or maybe it's just my profiles not identical. thanks desga2. will try to work 2moro.

I notice that most extensions have broken XUL windows that are the same size as browser windows, even if they were supposed to be mere dialogs. but...not all, the javascript alert() function produces normal small dialogs. I see that even the preferences dialog and the error console seem to launch with a full sized window and then shrink it down. Could someone with knowledge of this comment on

I found the problem, the old zipper did not include the outermost folder in the zipped directory, the newer ones do. So the paths within the zip file changed... Thanks for speedy help, what I needed was to go cook dinner, eat and play with the cat as usual. 1.6 compatible microrss in a few days... I also notice that you need to use Deflate compression method, rather than Bzip in the zip

What utility works for making .zip (.jar) files....I used to use an annoying zipper from Avatarsoft and I replace that with Noah, which is a close cousin to 7zip. Neither of these programs seems to be able to build a zip file that mozilla can understand. If I take an old, working .jar file, unzip it to flat regular folders, then rezip it with either Noah or 7zip, the new .jar can't be read.

yeah, I said that. I will try to migrate it to 1.6 later this month, after I finish another project.

@ndebord: Same as you, I believe. I am using siria's ( and other's) recommendation to just put the plugin in the km folder, rather than actually install it. But I don't think it makes a difference. With the current KEx, I just downloaded from Adobe, and ran it. And I'm one of the people who could never get 10.0 to work, it would install, but never display anything. I saw

I've got the latest Flash 10 running on KM1.5, 1.6 and IE6 under KEx 4.5.15. No problems, no sticking on utube videos. amazed.

Wow, I am running the latest Flash 10.1.164 or whatever in BOTH KM1.6 and KM1.5....so far no probs. I was one of the people who could never get 10.0 to work no matter what I did, it would install, KM would find it, but never render anything. Kernel Ex has come a long way !!!. The latest Flash AX is also working for me.:O

@desga2: yes, i realize everything you said, i'm just documenting behavior. The random mouse selection seems particularly suspicious and the drop down menu fail. Those seem like possible KM bugs because why would new gecko change mouse behavior? As for the URL drop down, if it works on XP, then yeah, it's Kex bug, otherwise seems like Kmeleon. I really haven't used it enough to

Things seen on 1.6b2 that were not seen in the preBeta, may have already been reported, my apologies...W98SE with KEx 4.5.15. Randomly seems to select items on page as if mouse was left clicked somewhere on the page when window is switched to, usual anchor point appears upper left (0,0). Except the mouse button was not held down. Occasional locking on menu selection, just stops responding f

Yup thanks, downloaded it a few days ago and noticed that. There are still other menu entries that open a window though. Is anyone still interested in bug reports for this beta? I've had trouble with it that wasn't there for the preBeta I had previously, but I imagine they;'ve all been reported by others....

I have some of the same complaints but it is links opened from macros that do not divert properly. like Help: About plugins, from the menu, always opens a *f$%#@* new window. It is annoying. I think that 1.6 if anything might have a few more instances where this happens, or maybe i'm so annoyed that it's not fixed by now, it just seems like more. Older versions did not have this behavio

when you exit km ( or any browser) it copies the memory cache to the disk cache. also, it copies memory cache to disk cache whenever memory starts getting full. the default settings of most browsers will compare an identifier of each image file to all of the ones in cache ( thats a crc for those techinical people) it can tell if the file has changed since the last fetch, if so, it gets a fresh

Flash 9 always hangs for like 20 seconds on youtube in win98. Hang (no response) is not the same as crash. crash means program exits with error or computer will not work. Just be patient. after first video is loaded and playing, it usually gets quicker. if you download one at HD quality, that can cause hang for many minutes. you will need to ctrlaltdel and restart the browser. your har

I would look in kmeleon preferences under file handling. There you can set what behaviour you would like for all mime types, including pdf. If sumatra is your OS default reader ( such as you double click a pdf, it opens in sumatra ) you can ask kmeleon to use it. You can also just specify that it always use sumatra if you know its install location on your drive.

Aaaannnddd... the next release of KernelEx 4.5 is out !! RC5 available at sourceforge. Thanks and props to Xeno86. Unfortunately, KM 1.6prebeta does not appear to get along with the W95 shell. It opens just fine and all the menus work, but it does not load webpages...

Confirm siria's behaviour. If you want to move a tab to the rightmost position, drop it over the rightmost tab, if you go beyond, the cursor will change and it will clone, but... without the old tab's history

The author of KernelEx reports that it will be compatible with the W95 shell on the next release. I am overjoyed. I see the same icon rendering issues as others have reported and also a cursor rendering problem. I will supply the offending website which includes google maps and the custom cursor is not rendered properly. No other glaring problems noted so far.

i "installed" sumatra, but it needed kex on my system. but i like it even better than foxit so far. however, it is also memory hog, but at least it releases memory when you zoom out. thanks for the warning on comments.

Definitely run the tcp optimize tests from speedguide.net. IE has it's own set of registry settings that set Tcp rwin. The default set is used by everyone else, probably your rwin is too small and you need to set selective ACKs and number of piplined req's etc. The program from speedguide will set them after you measure your latency, or you can just use 1 second as a rough guide. I woul

@4tds There is SHLUPD95, a small program that fixes the issues mentioned. It is based on KernelX and amazingly written by a high school student from Singapore ( i think). So if you like using 95 shell, it is now possible with no pain or hacking files. The 95 shell is faster and simpler, but if someone could tell me how to stop the 98 shell from constantly resizing windows, I could put up with

Got it working (pretty much) on KX rc4. Problem seems to be KX is not compatible with W95 Explorer which I use. I switched to W98 Explorer and it runs. No problems with KX rc4 so far, rc2 and rc3 - very bad, very very bad.

Well mine are seperate install just like yours. The "mixing" occurs at the OSlevel when the protocol handler is invoked to fetch the URL, there can only be one protocol handler for http: which is set during the setdefault.exe running. Unfortunately, this did not help my problem so far. Maybe the newer version of KEx will be more robust on my system. A pity, so far Siria and I have i

@siria I think it was the reboot that did it. I have it set to default to inactive for all programs as you suggested. If you do use Kex with KM 1.5, it breaks Mailto: links, probably you discovered that and set it to leave KM 1.5 alone, then you figured to just explicitly enable it for programs that need it. which is a GOOD idea I'm going to try install KM1`.6 now.... Using cp4, I unz
