Excellent. I just customized the privacy bar to what I use. A tad annoying is that you have to edit the file and add/remove the comment symbol. Lotsa typing for a lazy guy like me.

Quotedisrupted it just uses port 80 to download so it can't be it, i just tested on 9x to make sure.. the only problem i had was when i forgot to rename kmeleonw9x.exe to kmeleon but i don't think that's the problem and since you can use the local installer then it's not a problem with extracting the files what's the full path where kmeleon is installed and what's

Quotedisrupted 10.0.45 version works on some 9x systems, you can download it from this link http://kmext.sourceforge.net/mplug.htm can be used with http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?9,105717 download from http://kmext.sourceforge.net/ext6.htm Thanks, gave it a shot. I guess my W98 is not one of the few that works.

Ahhh yes that sounds like you may be on the track of it. Sort of. I have no AV software and my firewall is all in the router. Unless it is trying to allow a inbound connection to a blocked port. Hmmm, I do know keith.exe is running as I happened to see the Win98 app log file for it and the 7z dll as well. So it's a blocked download I guess. Well I think I can leave it as is since I don'

What is it? A version of Flash 10 that works for Win98? I'd love that.

Well, I got it working by downloading and installing from the download. Right click and selecting from the menu is what doesn't work for me. Just as well, I prefer to have a copy of anything I install anywho. :-) More good news is that the pre 1.6 version of NoScript (from the french site, c'est tres bon) was just an exe installer. No .7z req'd. :-) It did have one minor error w

Thanks, checked and macros are on. Also retried and got the message extension installed successfully before the browser restarted itself. But still nothing new in the tools menu or on my hard disk. Odd, no? Will try a different extension, perhaps Style is defective not KEM.

I right clicked to install the "Style" extension and the windows flashed by seeming to show it being installed but when I looked in the Tools menu there was no Style entry to select. I tried it again and same result. On further investigation there are no new files for the extension in the K-M directory! I know people will want to post "Well it works for me." Yes, I realize

I've recently noticed a trend by some sites to put some horrible floating bars/menus on the screen and I found out it's done not via JS but CSS. So now I have yet another thing to turn off! Can't find a way to turn it off in K-M though. Opera you hit Shift G and whammo, beautiful pure text the way it was meant to look. Well not really... it really ought to be 80x25 text mode but

I just installed the KEM but the site with the extensions that (presumably) only work with it only have a KM 1.6 compatible version of the Noscript extension. The other extension site (geckozone) has a NS for 1.1 and 1.5. My question is whether the KEM also works with the geckozone extensions or not. <sigh... if not I'll have to get some .7z unzipper after all > Hopeful Optimist

Quotesiria The KEM manager from kmext.sf.net containes a 7z.dll plugin, and a 7z.exe So yes, it is automatically included It lands in the directory "tools". If I want to find out such things before installing, I just click on the xxx.7z link, and instead of "save" choose "open", that shows a list of all the contained files and their folder structure. Quotesiria Glad you got it working too, topor! One more in the tiny win98 community running KM1.6 QuoteMXB Perhaps this might help. I had a similar problem with menu icons that looked wrong (black background) when I changed to Opera 10.5 (IIRC) and I fixed it by installing a DLL. I've since forgotten the details but could find out. WAAH - YES, please do!! That might well be that little

Oh that's why... I was puzzled by this same thing. Works in Opera so I'll have to remember to use the right browser for it.

There appear to be 2 ways to install extensions? One is to install the manager. Does the manager have a built in .7z extractor? I'm not keen on downloading yet another extraction program. PKZIP is what I'll stay with til I die. TIA

Quotesiria About unzipping in general, well, am actually not sure if all unzip tools work the same way, guess most come with some options for a user to adjust, but I'd expect them to have as default setting to respect the folder structure... Well, if someone isn't sure how his zip tool is set, just do a quick test by extracting a zip file into a new empty folder I've played with

On Opera I have Zoom set to 120% since I recently switched to a 1280x1024 monitor. Is there any way to set K-Meleon to stick with a text and image zoom of 12? I think that's about the same according to my Eyeball Mark I measuring device ;-).

Okay tried to find info on what flag cookies means in K-M but could not. I know what accept, reject, and session mean but flag has me puzzled. I thought it might mean it would bug me and ask like IE used to but I haven't seen it yet. Interesting note is that this forum appears to have a site policy using implicit consent, as it lost my settings when I used a custom setting of only accepti

Button for JS? F7 toggles JS I've found. Do you mean something else? I'll have a look at the Policies Manager you mentioned, it sounds like Opera's method.

I run Opera with JS, Plugins off by default and enable per site if req'd. FireFox 1.5 I run with NoScript. I was wondering about K-Meleon though. I know that there's buttons to toggle JS, etc and I've enabled them as default as a toolbar. I also know there's a NoScript for K-M. So there's a couple of options I have and I was wondering what you experienced K-M users do.

I just tried this macro and it works well. For me, it's a must use it seems. Took me a a few minutes to figure out I had to toggle it on in tools menu though (DOH!). I knew it was somewhere... hehe. Curious: Anyone find that this macro does _not_ help them? Wondering...

83. Re: Hi!
Yep, I already tried that, bookmarked the FF1 bookmarks.html and it shows up as a web page (off disk). What I couldn't manage was to get it to import the links as bookmarks automatically. Right now I'm trying out a copy of the FF1 bookmarks.html which I did let K-M modify (thus I presume altering the header from generated by FF to by K-M and making it "native", as you say t

84. Re: Hi!
Thanks guys! Lots of food for thought there. It is a pity indeed that the Hotlist (Opera) is not quite reliable since the 3 sets are in fact 3 ages of the same bookmarks. The Opera ones are the current ones which were imported from the FF ones which in turn were imported Favourites. I guess I'd best either make a seperate copy of the Opera bookmarks or just not modify them from K-M. Since I&

Yeah OB1 is a little limited on some sites. But since it never did javascript one can't complain! Thanks for the tip about YT! (Edit: Wow, it works, FF1 now pretends to be K-M hehehe) One minor point is I'm using FF1 not FF2! :-D I, for some reason I've forgotten, decided not to install FF2. In any case I'm quite impressed with KM so it's a keeper and will replace FF1

Quoteguenter To turn off K-Meleon's update checker go F2 -> K-Meleon Plugins before it falls in disgrace as an "update dork". I don't think I need fear KM's new versions yet... not until it stops working in Win98. Then I'll do as you say. Quoteguenter p.s. The K-Meleon 1.5.4 installer ships the VC 7.1 dlls that are needed for Win98... You'll find f

89. Hi!
Hi, I started using Chameleon ;-) today. Works fine. My first (and favourite) browser was LYNX, then I used Arachne, then IE3-6 (until I realized I was actually using Windows a fair bit and had better be careful about the browser) then Firefox 1.5, then Opera and now I've found you guys. I no longer use IE. But the rest yes. Also Off by One which is even more lightweight a browser than this
