Thank you again Siria, your help and info have been a perfect fit. I now have all of the macros needed to open everything in tabs but I haven't worked out a final menu replacement scheme yet, when I do I think I'll visit your mini-macros thread. Your pagecacheinfo code above was corrupted by the forum (the index lines), but it's easy to see how you to took the "moz_AboutCac

Thanks siria! I see you've been thinking and editing your posting, please stop, hehe. I was able to get the cache information for an image to open in a tab by editing "main.kmm" and changing the last line in the "moz_AboutCache_Image" macro from "OpenURL_InNewWindow" to "OpenURL_InNew". However, after much poking around I couldn't get View I

Welcome, Tris. 3) It's not what you're asking for but a middle click should drop an anchor that will allow you to scroll in any direction with mouse movement. 5) Supplementing the links you've already been given, I'm compelled to say that I wrote some notes HERE about 'creating your own accelerator hotkeys' (written as I learned it, by a n00b for n00bs). Hehe, I use a more ancient rig than you and it sure works great. It's all about lean, mean, smart coding. Most developers don't think that way anymore, they just suggest you upgrade your hardware and OS to run their bloated code and align with their ignorant design decisions. But many smart developers prove again and again that the road to bloat and the dependence on the latest hardware

I don't like to use c-net and k-meleon in the same sentence but I was glad to see the k-meleon user agent spoofing comments get coverage in the cnet article, didn't know that was Disrupted. By the way Guenter, I use Yahoo mail classic all the time with the default k-meleon user agent but just the other day I got THIS interstitial page when I logged in, suggesting I upgrade my browser. A

Your thoughts about adding the toggle to the privacy menu make sense, though it may fit more easily into the 'logical' right-click options on a privacy bar button. However, I don't foresee a general need for the toggle, since the setting seems to become a problem only in very rare circumstances. For my purposes Disable Login made sense, but I did encourage customization...

QuoteRaven You all do know that feature to save data for forms, don't you.. Well, I accidently pressed "yes"(=save) while being in a forum (I'm admin there). Now when I try to edit a user's data, it keeps inserting my own data into the form every time (phpBB2).. so.. how can I turn it off again? Almost eight years later I've encountered the same problem, and de

Yes, but the problem is unrelated to scripts. It's probably only an issue for dialup users and the solution probably lies somewhere in the KM source code, so I'm willing to let the matter rest. Thanks everyone.

It seems that ID_EDIT_REDO has been available since 1.5.2, but I guess it wasn't connected to any menus and such until now. Now undo/redo are available in all appropriate menus and via Ctrl-Z / Ctrl-Y. QuoteguenterAny helpful menu change that needs a translation requires that all translators have time before they can be applied. You would not do that to a RC - would You? No, guenter,

Thanks for your efforts Dorian, and to everyone else involved. I was poking around and noted the following changes from 1.5.3: Macros: "image properties" enhanced (docinfo.kmm), now includes "scaled to" pixel values from effects of img size tags. Menus: Undo/Redo added to the edit menus. Refined delete/clear context menu functions. Accelerators: Ctrl-Y set

Thanks for your time and effort, John. Right-clicking for Link Properties isn't something I'd thought of, so that's a step in the right direction, but not the solution. I researched, searched deeply for clues, extracted the jars in the chrome folder, but I didn't turn up anything that I could make sense of.

I install certain freeware utilities before working with Vista, one of them is an excellent search alternative called Agent Ransack. Homepage: http://www.mythicsoft.com/agentransack I also use it all the time in Win98. It's small, light, simple freeware and doesn't interfere with anything else, when installed it adds an Agent Ransack item to the folder/drive context menu. It has

The status bar displays various messages while a page is loading, as it should, but when I hover the cursor over an active link (while the page is still loading) it only shows the link infomation in the status bar for a few milliseconds (useless), then reverts back to showing the background task info about transferring data, looking up, connecting to server, etc. Hovering over active links sho

Clicking Edit -> Configuration -> Toolbars will open up the plain text file called toolbars.cfg (each skin has it's own), which contains all of the code that creates and defines the toolbars and buttons. In it you can change this... Print{ ID_FILE_PRINT|Print Print this page. Right-click for more options. toolhot.bmp[6] toolcold.bmp[6] tooldead.bmp[6] } to

I've been bothered by this too zani_woob, but I've always done like jsnj said. The problem is that I fail to remember to right-click outside the link about once every six tries, then must click again. So... thank you Siria, for the menu customization! So easy to fix. Dunno why I didn't think of it myself. And, I have to wonder why I never saw this great link before:

To add some criticism to my praise I will say that I really don't like the first three buttons on your main toolbars (I think back/forward should be first), but as we know, moving or removing such things to satisfy an individual preference is a simple matter! Which leads me to the following, to encourage others to customise their toolbars... For those who have never changed their tool

There is far more to this skin than is obvious here. Casual users and those learning to customise the browser really should try this! The abundance of functional buttons and right-click menus is impressive. The tooltip info on the buttons is helpful but there is also a wealth of written information embedded in the configuration file that will educate the user and make editing decisions much ea

My privacy bar is always on, I use it daily, often multiple times per day. However, I reduced it to five buttons (for now) and changed it's appearance entirely on the first day I began using it, quickly hacking it up to reduce the button width and change the look. It's not pretty or complete but it has served me well... (animated image) I click the block images button most of al

Thanks SoerenB, this has all been very interesting. I must credit you for my new virtual keyboard, I never used one until thinking about your mouse-only concept. I'm sure it will be useful in many future scenarios. Anyone fond of mouse gestures should consider a freeware gem called StrokeIt. From msg-99854: QuotejsnjStrokeit makes alot more sense to me since it hardly uses any res

A google search of the site name will show a preview of the results of the hack. I saved the index, looked at the html in notepad and nothing dangerous was revealed, just the political rantings of a palstinian hack group screaming revenge. Hacks like this, with a boastful 'hacked by us' message, are very common, and rarely try to deliver a malicious payload to visitors, it's all ab

A great start SoerenB, it's nice to see a new user contributing useful content. I agree with your 'jewel of a browser' sentiments, and I also like to use only the mouse at times. However, I would not want to be without my customized menu and toolbars visible, being so easy to click. In my first days with K-Meleon and this forum I described in detail how to edit and customize me

Thank you siria, I think I'll use that. Thanks to you I looked at garbage's link again, which is not httpS, and in viewing the cache information (Ctrl-i) I realize it's flagged as no-cache -- thus the need to redownload just to view the source. The one I tried to view the other day may have been the same. (Nope, nope, wait a minute. I was offline, viewing the cached page, but I

Extensions it is, but I've heard of "add-on" for what seems to be my whole life (in the USA), and have personally and persistantly used it in a video game (software) context since at least 1997 (game add-ons). For further documentation you can also take THIS example (javascript required, to zoom in on the RCA thing). If you wish to argue about the term in a web browser context, dis

garbage, your link would not work for me with cookies disabled, I would get the page load error. But with cookies enabled it worked, and viewing the source presented no problem. On a related note, I was offline recently and tried to view the source of a page, but it didn't show because K-Meleon seems to require downloading the source again when it's requested by the user (bizarre), i

Siria, guenter's Gecko Rendering Engine updates did nothing to fix my problems**, but they may well help others. Disabling SVG didn't help either. Disabling anything and everything that can be disabled didn't help either, nor have fresh profiles or new installations. I must say that I've never tried any other K-Meleon builds, just the official (1.5.3 only, ever), with the unof

Thank you Guenter, for the kind greetings, the interesting info, and some smiles. borderLine (no more wondering about that name, hehe), my dialup IP also places me in a different city in a neighboring state, which I'm happy enough about - it's helps to keep the guenters from finding my secret lair.

borderLine, as an admin/moderator guenter has access to your IP address. Click 'go' at http://network-tools.com and you'll see what your IP reveals. He probably has some handy little extension to expand on these things. guenter, please don't expose my geolocation, I don't like that sort of thing. It's enough to say I'm in the US. ;-)

I've written previously: "I can visit http://news.com ( or anywhere on CNET ) and reliably crash K-Meleon (1.5.3) about once in every dozen page views anywhere on the site. I have found no common cause in the crashes but I suspect it could be ad related due the intermittant nature. It's always "K-MELEONW9X caused an invalid page fault in module GKLAYOUT.DLL". It doesn

You can certainly change your search engine! The fact is you can change virtually everything in this browser, from totally customizing all menus and toobars to creating macros that can make the browser do just about anything. Spend some time learning everything and I'm sure you'll be pleased. The forum is a rich resource, the site links on the left are full of stuff, and don't over
