Wow. Long time since I've been here. KM was my favorite browser for many years. Slow dev and website apartheid drove me to Pale Moon - and switching to Linux has kept that permanent. I've missed it, though. The configurability, features like the Hotlinks; there's nothinglike it. Today I happened to wander into the forum, and I discovered KM-goanna. I am running it right now, in

It looks like I am not going to be using KM very much in the future. For one thing, I plan on switching to Debian Linux when I get a new computer somewhen later this year. But also, I had a hard reminder today that my favorite browser is falling too far behind the times. The default theme of a new forum that I installed for my World of Tanks clan is not K-meleon friendly. It works, but there are

It definitely has to do with advertising, and it's certainly not K-Meleon's fault. That freebiesjeebies.org site is a pesthole, IMHO. It wants you to be a sheep in its herd of affiliate cash animals. In other words, there's nothing there that's really free. It's a kind of legal pyramid scheme. You pay with your privacy, and that of anyone you sell to them. Clean out all c

It works pretty well most of the time, but it isn't a perfect solution. Some sites behave very oddly (mostly thanks to insane web designers with acute pernicious HUTAS).

Related to the scrolling problem -- Because I need to zoom font size everywhere, all the time, I notice erratic behavior here. When K-M first opens, Ctrl+mousewheel works fine. Open another tab, and in the new tab it usually doesn't. In each new tab I was forced to use Ctrl+ +, until I realized that switching to a zoomed/zoomable tab and back again makes Ctrl+mousewheel work in the new tab.

Further observations: I can't open saved pages by double-clicking either. I can drag anything in, or use SendTo. The oddest thing is the difference between two program launchers that I use. Both have identical entries for K-M, but one works and the other doesn't. The solution for the one that doesn't work is to use a shortcut rather than the exe as target. NOW the lightbulb i

That's pretty cool. You can paste a load of stuff and save it too, all without opening an editor. Links, images and all.

Thanks, I'll try that. Any ol' hack that works! ETA: batchfile nees a little tweaking, but I'll work it out now that I have something to aim at. ETA2: drat. not working. needs something and I still don't know what.

I recently horked up my poor K-Meleon so badly with a wonky extension that I decided to start over. Instead of the version I had before, I thought it would be cool to try 1.7.0. So far so good, mostly, but it won't open from any external link. K-M is my default browser, so it opens when, for instance, I click a link in a Twitter client. But 1.7.0 just gives me this message: -------------

Besides "fully functional" we need to consider safe. I installed NS for KM, and it screwed up badly with Twitter. The browser was nearly frozen solid when I opened several tabs on Twitter. I had to close all. When it still had problems, I uninstalled the add-on. Now it's worse; KM won't show Twitter at all. I edited out everything I could find so far in the config files that s

Older strings aren't going to work. Google is dissing us badly. I finally got into all my G-stuff using this string: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.2; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0.1

Of course it's a waste of time. It's not about giving the user a break, it's about using us. I'm getting a load of shight from Google whenever I get deep enough into my settings. There is nothing there that K-M can't handle, but if I want to get anywhere I have to switch to Fire-ox -- just to find out that there is nothing there anyway. I'm sick of it, but beyotch

System diffs, I guess. :-( Crash of the day: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds -- download portable link. Resuming session and merely going to that tab crashed it again. *Sigh* This is about as random as it gets, because I've never crashed there before!

I'm glad I'm not completely alone here The vmware link is a problem because you have to be logged in. The most recent crash was triggered by http://www.thewindowsclub.com/downloads/UWT.zip -- looks simple and innocent, but K-M crashed. Firefox just downloads the download page. Opera gets the file.

Vista x64 with Emerge Desktop, dual-core, K-M 1.6b2 Just crashed trying to DL VMWare Player. Last time I tried both with with and without a download manager (Star Downloader) enabled, same thing. I have javascript enabled except in rare instances, never when trying to DL. Most sites are OK, just the few odd ones kill it. It isn't related to the history file size issue that causes ot

Sometimes I hit a download link that crashes K-M, and have to use Firefox to get the file. No idea what makes K-M freak out. I'm going to start keeping track of the events. Latest one was http://www.binaryfortress.com/HashTools/#download "download without installer" link. The session restore feature is pretty awesome in these cases. Every time K-M is blown away I get every tab b

I've been fooling around with this -- but can't get K-M to open with the URL that should have been passed to it. Always opens with home page or "can't find nohome" complaint. Got started with all this fun stuff because defaults got messed up and then IE went BSOD postal. Uninstalling IE8 mellowed things out, but I'm still looking for a way to always open K-M. I h

Despite my other problems with JavaScript, my K-M works fine at the rice site. 1000 grains without a moment's hesitation. I have sometimes experienced JavaScript "freezes" with K-M when history, cache and cookies were too cluttered.

Dale -- It is normal for a link in the Favorites folder -- in a Windows Explorer or any other file manager window -- to open in a new browser window. Hard to get Windows, any version, to do otherwise, I would think. There is a simple workaround; just remember to open a new tab before you open the Favorites folder, and drag the link into it. Voilá. Working strictly within K-M (Preferences -

One very bad thing about blocking by site is that 99.999% of the problems occur on sites I might never revisit. I only hit them when following links from Twitter. :s Looks like I'm stuck with an extra toolbar if I want peace of mind -- that, or get me some more education - LOL

"Recopilated" means "recompiled", right? (ducks) Srsly, nice job. Although all on one page can be a bit awkward, one can copy out the parts one needs most and paste into separate documents of some sort. I usually do that for things I have to refer to often.
