Thanks Alain, I'll check it out, sounds interesting... And grmpf - just noticed the hotlist.dll deletes my nicks again. When I first checked they were still there, yet now they are gone. Will copy over the 154 version again. Don't think there was anything changed functionwise, or was it...?

Hmm, could it be that the start-offline bug is back in beta2? I don't mean the win9x-bug with cache and sessions (can't open new tabs for uncached pages, tries to load in same tab), but that general one: When the browser is closed in offline mode, then reopened, the offline mode is still checked. Yet the browser works like "online". When opening e.g. the previous session, it

Am finally in the process of moving to beta-2 too, and keep occasionally finding nice little improvements for 1.6, which are cool And really strongly support the new native spellchecker, since the whole world seems to need it so badly! Just can't find any menu or such for it, and personally would prefer to keep spellchecking with my own eyes (stupid lifelong habit ), and switch of

Have just noticed the new native adblock.css in beta2, and now riddling a bit: Isn't the "a:link" syntax for unvisited links only? That restriction certainly makes sense in the 'blacklist', but it's also used in the 'whitelist'. Now in theory, wouldn't that make that already visited 'whitelisted' link-pics get invisible as soon as they are vi

Mark he had posted some months ago on his website, that his provider was going to close down service Fortunately disrupted saved his site on kmext http://kmext.sourceforge.net/initiative/mark307.htm Good that you figured out this prob, I guess utils.dll is contained in quite some macros. In which way did KM 'fail'?

kenshiro, that's good news! No weird new bug, just that infamous vcredist installation missing again (but since beta2 linked from the download page) (offtopic) QuoteguenterIts a myth to claim that You mentioned that before. About win9x skin transparency 2-4 times, although for various skins... Guess first time in the Krameleon thread, with screenshot. Transparent background, althou

No idea if that helps anything, probably not, but guess the prefs are those: F2 > Privacy > Encryption > Encrypted Transmission And there's lots of stuff in about:config (filter 'ssl') Perhaps do a forum search on 'certificates', guess there were some detailed discussions awhile ago...

I think those versions are independant, since they have different dll-names, e.g. msvcp80.dll versus msvcp91.dll KM 1.6 needs the 80ies version. You can also verify that, if you have e.g. Dependency Walker installed, if you examine an exe or dll-file with it, it tells exactly which other dll-file is needed by it. In my trusty old windows98 it suffices to just put the 2 needed dll's into th

Look at the bottom of guenters screenshot. There's a field with "google" in it. Check the checkmark above it: "When a typed URL failed to load, automatically consult a search engine" If you type just single words, there's a little delay, since the browser first looks up the domain endings (IF you checked that other setting), and only if nothing works, it looks it

QuoteguenterIts a myth that anything in the skins but one toolbars.cfg file was altered since January 2010. You are talking about exactly the same images. Please check the time attribute to verify. Either kernelX has been improved or the K-Meleon code has been changed. No, the readable privbar wasn't part of an official release, that's why. It was in that thread when I first tested th

QuotekenshiroI'm almost managed to solve the problem. For some reason the dll files in the folder C: \ Program Files \ kmeleon \ kplugins "were not working. What I did was copy the folder from an older version kplugin 1.5.xe replace kplugin 1.6. . So far seems to be working well. Okay... that looks very much that jsnj's suggestion with the vcredist really is the key (oh wonder

(offtopic) QuoteguenterWin98/ME systems do not support alpha transparency in the same way as NT based systems. This can be circumvented by using a skin with transparencies done in magic pink. Just a note to win9x. No, that's a myth that magic pink were required ;-) Any other color incl. black works well to, at least on my system. The thing that does NOT work is just to use "partial

What's confusing me most, is that you have a toolbar background, and even from Klassic skin. Otherwise I'd swear your old profile is still lingering around and can't find the old default Phoenity Skin. By the way sometimes problems resolve themselves after a system restart. No idea if it would help here too, but your problem is definitely unusual. There must be some reason...

Another thought, could it be that you have inserted a special character into the toolbars.cfg, perhaps in a comment to a button or such?

Definitely looks like you don't have any toolbars.cfg in the skin folder? Please check it... And switch off the toolbars background. Perhaps there just went something wrong when you downloaded the new version? Try downloading again, and either use the 7z-version, or overwrite your current install with a new setup...

Thanks for the screenshot, and WOW - you don't have ANY toolbars?!? WEIRD :O Can you also post a screenshot of "View > Toolbars"? It's like they are all switched off - or as if you don't have any toolbars.cfg in the skin folder :O Somehow that looks like you have a skin chosen that doesn't exist?? Try another (F2>GUI)... Then again, the funny thing is tha

F7  Very easy to forget once it's toggled, but your default setting seems to be "allow JS", so no prob ;-) Okay, considering your default mode, you can also just use the policies manager to block javascript on certain sites. The only catch, if I understood it right, is that this block-JS-policy also blocks certain KM commands, so those will not work either on blocked sites,

@kenshiro: First thought: Make sure you have writing rights in the profile folder... (Edit > Configuration > Profile directory) Second thought: Could be that you're using (accidentally?) your previous profile from KM1.5x, in some cases that can cause problems. Try with a new default profile: Edit > Manage Profiles > Ask at Startup Then restart and when the profile manager

It'a dropdown list, for various things, like Typed URLs, Favorites, etc. They are independant from each other, so *after* clicking on "Favorites", you must check "New Tab" for it (or whatever one prefers.). Sure, after closing and reopening that preferences sheet, the dropdown field always shows the top entry first, that's normal. The setting that is shown below i

Hmm, yes that's often required, but I think my cookies stayed blocked when I tested his site, yet it worked without refreshing. Hmm... still have some shields up, like object-block (flash) and DomStorage block. But didn't try on KM154, only KM16, and so am blaming mostly the gecko engine ;-)

IMO the problem is that here are way too little people for testing and reporting, for comparing, with different systems. So for most things it's really hard to tell if something really is a bug or perhaps just some configuration difference, or if something is really win9x related or a general prob. Always riddling... :-/

No idea if they changed their code meanwhile (sure hope so, it's been 3 months), but actually that messy site was the mail site. Yes, if javascript is allowed, there was no autorefresh, back then either! That autorefresh crap was the trick to punish people for *blocking* javascript, to force them to give yahoo access to their computer, grr.

Oh, that prob sounds familiar to me http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?2,109196,110810#msg-110810 It was really extreme in KM15x on facebook, but thankfully at least this site works now fine in KM1.6, uff. Seems to be gecko-related. But I did a lot of searching around some two months ago, trying to find some workaround for that crap, but learned that there are various ways for website

How do you open the favorites, from an explorer folder? As already described, click F2 (> Browsing > General), open the dropdown menu of "typed url", choose Internet explorer favorites and choose your settings. Or do you mean when opening favorites from inside KM? Then click Favorites > Options and choose your settings. Should work, really...

Quotedesga2 In 1.6.0 Beta and Beta2 you can change this behaviour in Preferences (F2) -> Browsing -> Windows Diversion (tab) -> "Open Help menu options in a new tab instead of a new window" option. No prob, works perfectly Great option! (but am on beta-1 yet, no idea if it changed in beta-2)

Well, I have no idea whether he asked or not, or whether you're the person you say or not. In general I have the impression that jsnj is a very decent and helpful guy, not someone who'd take copyrighted work out of carelessness or disregard. But frankly, after looking at guenters link I must say that it's really not obvious that this skin doesn't have the public license writ
