Test your browser's max connections at... http://stevesouders.com/hpws/max-connections.php K-meleon loaded the full complement of pictures on my computer. Firefox loaded much fewer. This doesn't necessarily mean that one browser is better than another BECAUSE of max connections. It's just something to know & ponder (if it is your wont to ponder.)

This IS a K-meleon topic. Please be patient with me while I set the stage. An infection by malware -- viruses, trojans, worms, etc -- is very INCONVENIENT. In a worst case scenario, you might even have to format your HD & reinstall the OS & your apps. (Hopefully, you use disk imaging software, so all you would need to do is restore a clean image.) A keylogger, on the other hand, ca

QuotecaktusIt even disabled System Restore and would not permit me to enable itTHE best security against bad installs, malware infestations, hard drive failures, etc, is imaging software. The prudent user should image his system disk to an external HD at least weekly. Imaging has saved my okole (backside) multiple multiple times. QuotesiriaBut sorry, I must join the others, you cannot possible claim to be "new" (neo) at K-Meleon, nor even a beginner of using that browser  "neo" origines from "new", and I just feel strongly this refers to time, not skills or any qualities.Okay, I am not a neophyte (beginner). Ergo, when it comes to browser design, I am *feckless*. (^_^) Aloha, Bel

Aloha Guenter, As to "neophyte", I looked it up HERE and found the following... QuoteNoun neophyte (plural neophytes) A beginner. A novice (recent convert), a new convert or proselyte. (Christianity) A name given by the early Christians, and still given by the Roman Catholics, to those who have recently embraced the Christian faith, and been admitted to baptism, especially tho

"Neophyte" is relative. Relative to my computer-detesting wife, I am a computer geek. Relative to JuJu-sensei et al, I am a neophyte. (^_^)

Thanks to both of you for the help you have provided. MAXA Cookie Manager issued a change the day after I called this issue to their attention. I am now able to specify a custom location for K-mel's cookies. Thus, MAXA is now able automatically to locate the cookies for all 11 browsers installed on my computer (my prior post explains why I have so many browsers.) MAXA also spots Web Bugs

1- I use MAXA Cookie Manager. It works fine for all my browsers except K-mel. I wrote MAXA support about this. They asked me IF K-mel's file "profiles.ini" is located in the following folder... C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\K-Meleon\ 2- I told MAXA that the above folder exists, but it is empty. Instead, the "profiles.ini" file is located in... C:\Program

@mhf- Close Tab is next to New Tab button, as you said it would be. However, "Undo Last Closed" does NOT appear in its context menu. Also, Ctr-Alt+Z does nothing. @desga2 "Undo Last Closed" does NOT appear in the context menu of the tab bar. (That's the first thing I tried before posting this thread, because that action works for Firefox.) @siria - There is NO "

OTHER THAN by selecting from the right-click menu, is there any way to cause all links to open in a tab in the background? In other words, when I middle-click on a link (so as to open it in a new tab) I do NOT want the focus to switch to the new tab. Instead, I want the focus to remain on the current tab. Is there a way to achieve this? Thanks for any help or comments. (^_^)

Does this version solve the incompatability issue with Sandboxie?
Forum: General

Thanks for the suggestion Guenter but -- we cannot do that now. Our IT is convinced that Kmel places insufficient emphasis on security. I quote part of his written memo on this matter: "In the present state of the internet, sandboxing is essential. One of the very first tests for any new browser version should be to ensure that it works well sandboxed." It looks like it will be a

I am another who cannot run the new Kmel in Sandboxie. When Kmel runs sandboxed, we cannot browse with it & we cannot shut it down. We have to do a reboot to make it stop. Also, it often grabs 100% cpu. My company no longer lets anyone browse the internet except while using Sandboxie. Therefore, we are no longer allowed to use Kmel. We have all reverted to using Firefox or Opera. ( I

Bump! I still am hoping that someone will make it possible to use NoScript on K-mel. To be specific, is there someone who can make it possible to easily install file extension .xpi into K-mel? (.xpi is the file extension used by extensions for Firefox).

Thanks to all, esp. to desga2 & guenter for putting me onto K-Ext110_NoScript.exe. It works! I now have NoScript working with K-mel. However, that version is sorely outdated. The latest version (which runs with Firefox) is much improved versus the oldie installed with K-mel. XSS is a very serious threat, and other browser exploits of similar mein have spawned, as mentioned by Fred. E

Thanks Fred. I downloaded Noscript but I have no idea as to how to make it work. I have used K-mel as my default for several years, but I am discouraged by the obscure instructions for using extensions. All I had to do was click one button in order for Noscript to work with Firefox. On the other hand, K-mel just lets Noscript sit there, & offers no clue as to what to do next. Without No

I would VERY much like an answer as to how NoScript can be made to run within K-meleon. I am extremely concerned about the threat of cross-scripting (XSS), & NoScript provides good protection against that. An answer will be greatly appreciated. Regards, bellgamin
