Thanks Fred for an excelent tutorial. It has been sometime since I fooled around with Slax, but I must say that it's the most USB friendly distro I tried, making it perfect for Linux-On-The-Go... I just wish Thomas would switch from KDE to OpenBox+LXDE, for a really lightweight experience. More savvy linuxers migh want to have a go with Slitaz for that effect...

Quotepanzer Why don't you have a copy of Km somewhere on your comp? I use a different concept altogether. I have two versions of Km on my USB. I only implement changes in one of them and if everything is OK, then I delete this one over the second browser. And I have a copy on my comp if both of them go bananas/bonkers. I think I ought to do that, thanks for the tip. It just isn't e

Quotedisrupted Quotestuart So it's goodbye K-meleon as i can't risk this happening again. A shame as it was a good browser, until this morning this problem may happen to all browsers that don't use the registry and rely on ini or prefs files in profile folders.. that is; all geckos( firefox and seamonkey and ocra) aswell as opera and webkit browsers like chrome and safari.. so a

Didn't reply earlier 'cause I've been away. So sorry... As if to provide me with another reason, this very morning, after a power failure, I lost all my carefully engineered KM-SM2W3 settings. Now, I can't even enter search engines URLs in the proper dialog... so it's back to square one, new install coming up. I may be a long time user of KM, but I'm no program

I have been a KM user since version 0.7 and this thread resonated with my latest K-Meleon experiences. I don't want to join the choir here in bashing everything that is superb about K-Meleon, but there are things that need amending, if this project intends to go anywhere. There are other community supported projects out there that can examplify in full how this could be done -- the one

Although I do have .Net (1, 2, 3, & 3.5!!!), I have no Java and I feel exactly like Yogi... such frameworks should be entirely optional; I understand why coders like them, but for me small (and lean) is beautiful.

I'm still sticking with this version... appart from some quirks and minor bugs, it's working wonderfully. Could I interest Fred in a brief explanation of updating procedures? _ (Mainly the gecko engines and a few menu options, like when using help menu to access the forum or searching from the toolbar it always opens a new window...) Thanks for for any help -- and a job w

Quotereeko124 you know what paul. I have had that messed up my registry by not letting me open up regedit. So now I am very leary installing stuff and rather use portable things that have no bearing on my registry. I second that. :O (and thanks for the arora reply, reeko)

QuotePaul I use K-Meleon as my main browser, I have IE7 which I try not to use because of it's inherent security risks. For a 2nd browser I use SWare Iron, it's based on Google chrome technology, I find this to be light on resources also. Ditto, plus OperaTor (Portable Opera + Tor anonymizing proxy), The World Browser (portable IE shell), and Orca (latest gecko engine full blown b
