Look here. Problems? See Windows build prerequisites. Windows: If you're using Windows XP, you must have Windows XP Service Pack 2 and .NET Framework 2.0. Install Visual Studio. The express version will work. Install the Microsoft Windows SDK Update for Windows Vista (even if you don't use Vista). Install the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 Platform SDK. You need at

Quotetobias Wich could be the final size of Kmeleon? Right now one of the K-meleons i am working with is 5.80 MB BUT IS BEEN CHOPPED BY ME (I am not a pro and my K-meleon still uses XUL and some chrome) Same job done with the right guy a pro and the resulting K-meleon would be under 5 MB. Of course is all for Fun...Because as somebody said 17 mb is not that much nowadays

Quotedesga2 One note for Gorilla no baka: Are you note that compress files with UPX reduce size in disk but increase size in memory? I think that this isn't a good idea, because disk size is more cheap and easy to obtain when you talk about ~ 2 MB (currently you can buy 4G USB memory device for less of 10 €), but 2 Mb in memory is a lot of memory in use for old systems with little RA

QuoteJamesD I use MWSnap for screen capture, http://www.mirekw.com/index.html It dose not have any problem with KM. Ditto here ,Never had a problem not to mention that you can save the stuff as jpeg which really reduces the size of the capure and enables you to upload more stuff in the forums where the storage space for atachments is a problem

QuoteFred I have taken less important parts out of the chrome and some unneeded dlls out of components. The RSS reader and the console were not absolutely necessary, but the Preferences Panel should be there to avoid forcing a user to meddle with the configuration files. Although some parts are missing in it, the most important ones are there. To go below this size may be possible, but th

Quotecaktus Quotepsmith Just how stupid and/or arrogant........ As I understand, the developers and other forum members are volunteers who basically work on KM browsers as a project or hobby in their spare time. For my self, as well as others I assume, KM is a very fast browser when using dialup. And for some people including my self, KM is also a practical learning tool. I have found that t

In my humble opinion , 1) It is a ridiculous thing to look for other stupid browsers that does not allow you free access at their internal settings and they are not open source. 2) With the risk of ruffle someone's feathers a browser that does not comply with the "point 1" up top, is not a good browser. Why? Because they come with PRESET SETTINGS IN THE NETWORK PROTOCOL M

QuoteDorian If you can browse without svg, autocomplete, certificates, about pages, error pages and so on, then that's ok. But don't tell they're completely unnecessary. A lot of users use those features. Yeah, I know that a lot of users are using them ,But in my humble opinion they are being used ONLY BECAUSE THEY ARE INTEGRATED PART OF THE K-meleon.Or better said, K-meleon uses

Quotedreamz gorilla no baka, did you just delete the files or did you also recompile k-meleon afterward? if the latter, did you notice a significant improvement in terms of speed, resource usage, etc.? I just deleted the files... I have not recompiled it yet..I has been a real back breaker all this job,I just finished... I was actually thinking that based on all the work i have done somebo

QuoteYogi Quotecaktus Probably the new Opera 10 may be about as fast. But it still has far too much unnecessary eye candy in the way and taking up valuable screen real estate. There is no (unnecessary) eye candy (button, bar, panel) you can't easily remove/displace and tweak the GUI to save as much valuable screen real estate as you wish. Therefore despite of using the same skin you will

Quotecaktus Just a thought from an arm chair quarterback. It seems that lately most browser devs are finally getting around to designing their browsers that they are slim, trim, faster and with less bloat. But still, to them I must say KM browsers are still the fastest. Probably the new Opera 10 may be about as fast. But it still has far too much unnecessary eye candy in the way and takin

Quoteguenter QuoteGorilla no baka It could be some damaged file in the components folder... Remember to delete the 2 *.dat files after changes that involve *.xpt. That is needed when it had crashed. If it keeps crashing after that - it is fatal. You need one or more of the deleted files a new install or whatever. Thank you guenter...I got it all unders control now...Your ideia was brill

It could be some damaged file in the components folder... I run into the same problem. But it was only after i started to remove stuff from components folder... I will upload a list with all the stuff that can be deleted from the components folder and the ones that can not be deleted along with the messages that K-meleon displays when the files are missing.. Hope that will help

Mozilla compilation is well documented. But I do not know to compile. You know,,,I was thinking....Since K-meleon is a modular browser, it might be possible to download the code and compile only the parts we are interest

Quotedisrupted some sites are just plain stupid with their identifiers but they don't necessarily have bad intentions. for example: yahoo mail; they tell you your browser is not supported, that's an indication of a bad sniffer.. however all your mail features will work normally without altering your user-agent.. so they are stupid but they are not forcing you to use a specific browse

Quoteguenter QuoteGorilla no baka I am sure a extremly small K-meleon can be made (One just under 7MB ) (Right not my components folder is down to 7 MB and all the dll`s are not packed yet. After i will be finishing with cleaning the unnecessary stuff i will be UPX-ing every dll and i am sure i can lower it down to 3-4 MB compressed and all that) And the fact is I STILL HAVE MOUSE GESTURES

Quoteguenter Is much less hungry when it runs Gecko I run it for comparing & checking pages - Luna 176 MB here K-Meleon 160 MB. Most is used by system anyway. I have only 192 MB RAM. Luna also uses SeaMonkey type modular GRE (nice to compare what dll are needed). It seems to throw away space on unused Chrome though. I am sure a extremly small K-meleon can be made (One just under 7M

QuoteGorilla no baka Quoteguenter Quotepanzer Do KM works with just stand-alone executable (.exe)? I have never tried that. Lunascape 9Mb. World first triple engine browser. Kazahakase 1,4 Mb 1.) No. It is based on MFCembed.exe a test shell for Gecko. The construction joins the Windows API via MicrosoftFoundationClass with teh Gecko layout engine. 2.) An interesting concept. 3
