KM needs some time to close as it runs child processes like plugin-container etc. If not closed fully it will refuse to run new instance.

Definitely false positive by avast. The author of Unchecky posted it on one of the most popular russian closed-community IT-sites, and community had tested this software. It's OK there.

Mikk, are you using unofficial update packs for 98? If not try one - for example MDCU or UnSP But look, some patches (like IE6-SP1) may cause crashes while using KernelEx with Firefox (or maybe K-Meleon).

Very useful thread. I'll try to keep it alive while you are fighting a virus. Wish you a speedy recovery, panzer! Well... Ammyy Admin - freemium remote administration (very easy) PixelFormer - icon (and other pixel graphics) editor. My first option when creating and editing icons for KM skins. Not updated for some years but still good.

try to change useragents and check difference in how Google shows things! ;-) This is Google's way to serve different browsers - no bug, just feature!

terry_l, that's about my KM Twin ;-) So, the answer is: 1) Go to macros folder and delete (if not planning to use) selecticon.kmm or simply change its extension to something like .bak or .xxx 2) enjoy it!

sorry, Mikk, I have a very little experience with KernelEx, but it seems that your advisor was right: you have to choose between KernelEx 'on by default' and 'on-demand' (by application) settings. And there is no guarantee of glitch-free work though. Try different versions of KernelEx with different settings until you'll find the best one. I know many people reporting

Mikk, as for me, you have to choose between one of the 1.6beta based builds (any from my sig). To use them in 98 you'll need KernelEx library (very small and unobtrusive addition to Win98, which makes it possible to use newer software on that OS).

QuoteKMfan1 1. KM is much heavier than the previous 1.6 and 1.7. Yes. The new Gecko engine is less compact and thus more powerful. QuoteKMfan1 2. It looks like Firefox now. I have a plugin-container, flashplayer services. This is way i hate Firefox. Why can it be only ONE process (k-melon.exe) ? It doesn't look like FF at work. Only in Task Manager. That's the price we pay for new

All these bugs are known. The history workflow and zoom level 'bug' both are fixed in new assembly. Thank you for feedback!

James, this should be extracted into naruman's own assembly, not in Dorian's one.

I have to say that this version is the very early one and is in work right now. But I also wonder about DOS-window during closing. I think this is a trace from one of the autoit files added by JamesD. But I can be wrong here. For full config management wait some days for my next assembly with full working extension 'Preferential'.

Sorry, Musk Melon, but you seem to be like a spammer now. What is your KM version? Read the forum, search throughout it - and see that similar problems were solved many times. If you aren't just fooling us - give us details about your config in order to us being able to help you. Note: K-Meleon (not K-Melon!) now is going through an era of big changes. Changes for good, for future.

solution for zoom is to open Preferences->Page Display and set Default Zoom slider to 100% (naruman wrote that his version has default zoom set down to 30% for some reason)

as I can guess, subXUL problem may be caused by the 'relative path problem' inside XUL-code.

QuoteZero3K 1. Saving any changes to the bookmarks causes all of the folders in them to have their name changed to (null). 2. Typing in a nickname given to a folder containing bookmarks and pressing Enter results in it crashing. try new bookmarks.dll from Dorian's update Just unpack it overwriting old file. Also you can try to install all the update - simply unpack it in KM folder and

naruman & JamesD, I found second Dorian's kmeleon.exe to have some bugs in work with xul extensions so the question is: 1) if use first KM exe and place jars into omni.ja (and edit chrome.manifest there) - will the xul work right or not? 2) and if go further and unpack jar and place it's content folder by folder in corresponding places inside omni.ja (some more editing need

I think the only way is to keep 98 and use K-Meleon 1.6 or 1.7 with KernelEx. You can use tools like 98lite to delete unused components in order to make 98 consume less memory. Also I recommend to download videos instead of viewing them online. This is more 'lightweight' way to use PC. Like real 98-geek you should know the most light video player for your system. And the best w

James, it's not obvious but good idea to make history file open in... K-Meleon itself selecting it as editor But this generates the next question: is it possible to create html-file instead txt? Or at least make records in txt file like this <a hrеf="http://somelink.com">http://somelink.com</a>
