@Fred, Thank you for this Fred. I have two questions if I may. The first is, are you thinking of an NX version of 1.5? Will that be possible? And the second is whether you have any ideas or clues about where the problem might be that prevents the url bar from updating when following a link in both NX-18116 and 1.5? I sometimes have time I could experiment with wine and hope to get lucky ;-)

The RC and Offical Release of 1.5.0 both run for me almost perfectly in linux. The Bookmarks toolbar works, as do the Tabs, Preferences, Privacy Bar, and Sessions (Load and Save sessions work, but Undo Last Closed does not.) Here's what I did (My experience with wine 1.1.2 and Puppy Linux 4.0): 1. Set winecfg to a default of Win98 (to get the installer to use kmeleonW9x.exe). 2. Ran th

@Fred and desga2, I have found that skipstone works in Puppy linux. If you wanted to see it you could just run the live cd without modifying your current systems at all. I think the trick is that skipstone must be run with the version of seamonkey (or firefox???) against which it was compiled present in the system. In the case of puppy 4.0, for instance, skipstone was compiled against the seam

I am very glad to see this, the K-Meleon and Wine page and also this interest. I do all my for fun computing in linux now and I am glad to have k-meleon along for the ride. I am noticing that much seems to depend on one's linux distro as well as the version of wine. For instance, in Puppy 4.00 I have Wine 1.1.2 with no additional fonts at all, and it looks very good. In fact, this is win

Hi Fred, Is there some way to get more flashblock in nx-18116? It appears to block *some* flash ads, with adblock I presume. I seem to have a memory of seeing the flashblock f in nx but I can't rememer how that might have happened. It seems to be running very nicely now in wine 1.1.1; one of the many idiosyncracies of puppy linux is that it uses a layered file system--which wine and k-mel

Fred, I took gklayout.dll and gkparser.dll from your NX-18115 and used them to replace the ones in your linux-adapted 1.5b2 and lo and behold, 1.5b2 is working in crossover 7.0.2. Very nice. Thanks for the tip--it also showed up in the dump after a crash. thanks, pd

Hi Fred, Would it be possible to document the things you do to make your Linux friendly versions of K-Meleon? I am playing with both wine and crossover to see if other versions might be made to work--or to learn what changes might have to be made to get other versions to work. I even bought crossover in order to avail myself of their tech support! Currently NX-18115 is the only version run

Thanks Fred, NX-15 seems to be running nicely in crossover office in puppy linux. K-Meleon is the ideal linux browser, or would be easily if it ran native in linux. Your NX series are the ones I have had the best luck with--and one of Hao's once. thanks again, ps

Fred, I thought you might be interested to know that NX-18113 runs, as far as I can tell, perfectly for me with croosover linux 7.0 (the commercial adaptation of wine). That is with puppy linux dingo 4.0 and blackbox window manager (with the official jwm window manager also afaik). It runs very nicely with wine 1.0 also, but occassionally crashes--which it doesn't do with crossover. On the

Hi Fred, yes, running in root is one of Pyppy's "idiosyncracies." What I like about Puppy is that it is a creative rethink of some aspects of accepted linux. For instance, on my old laptop I don't have much need for a multi-user system, but I do have a need for speed and responsiveness--therefore I am happy that Puppy emphasizes the latter. Is it less secure thereby? Proba

Awesome instructions Fred, thank you for being so generous with your time and expertise. I am using puppy linux now. It does have some idiosyncracies, but after mandrake, gentoo, and arch, all of which I like and respect, I find puppy to be light, fast, and fun. It's a great thing to do with an old laptop. I was trying to run 1.5beta, so that was one problem. I will try nx and 1.1.5 and

Hi Fred, I have been putting all my recreational computing into Linux lately, but I miss K-Meleon. I would like to run K-Meleon in wine and I remembered that you were the man for that. I have a working wine installation (it runs firefox3 anyway). I have gotten the two 71 files. But I haven't gotten k-meleon to run yet. Do you have any clues; are any tips and tricks written down anywhe

@Hao, Just a thought but I have been using FF3b5 in Linux a lot this week and it crashes on exit quite a bit--mabye something to do with Flash 9--who knows, but I have been using the windows version since beta 1 and haven't seen that.

Thank you Hao. This is the version of KM I am using most now (CCF b4pre). I was hoping someone would step up to continue development of a great browser--so many thanks also to desga2. Perhaps others will join him--I could do some docs and testing, etc. With no XUL and 1.5 core, CCF should/could be the fastest KM. Wishing you, Hao, and everyone, a healthy and happy Year of the Rat.

Thank you Alain for taking the trouble to prepare the spellchecker. This is very useful to me because now I can use KM for work as well as for fun (without having to purchase a spellchecker--which I was considering). I installed in 1.5a1 and I am getting this message on startup: (I don't get the problem with 1.1.3) Error in spellcheck.kmm C:\Program Files\K-Meleon\macros\spellcheck.km

Thanks for the new beta3. It is like Christmas getting a new version--I spend a pleasant hour setting it up just like I like it and admiring the speed. So please know that your work is highly appreciated. On my machine it still doesn't handle some requested popups that resize the window. This can be seen by going to BBC Worldservice and clicking Listen. One can then choose Windows Med

I would guess perhaps that you had the loader running??? It is loader.exe to give faster startup times, but if it is running it will do what you saw in the first instance--it will run its own version no matter which k-meleon.exe that you click--so if it is the 1.1.2 loader that is running it will run 1.1.2 even if you click 1.5a. In the second instance perhaps the loader was still running but s

Thanks for making these updates. Between you doing the new ones and Fred doing the old ones, I have more fine versions of K-Meleon than I can possibly use!!! It's tough, but I try to limit myself to 3 or 4: Official Release + updates; NX latest; and 1.5. Keep 'em coming. Thanks again.

Worked like a charm Fred (at least so far ;-) I used the kmeleon.exe from your 1.02 1.8.1.11. Now I have another question. Is it possible for me to add Flashblock to this NX. Copying flashblock.jar from the chrome folder of 1.02 to the chrome folder of NX didn't seem to do it--maybe because there is no way to activate it from the preferences??? I can edit the config files if that w

Thanks Fred for both the update to 1.02 and this nx18111. There is one thing that puzzles me about the nx versions. In the versions of ccf (also no xul I understand) the address bar drop down menu works. I am not sure I am using the right words, but what I mean is that if I click the blue doohicky with the up and down arrowheads at the right end of the url address bar, then a drop down men

Thanks for the work you do on CCF. In 0.8 beta 2 I find that if a site tries to open a new window with specific size then the tab that opens in ccf will cause the whole program including all tabs to adopt the new size and stay that way. I go to the bbc.co.uk/worldservice, choose a program to listen to, and then choose a time of the program and the whole of ccf shrinks to the size of the bbc pla
