Tested just now. IMO it's only a shell for IE and FF It can't do anything without these browsers.

@ nikolas You may give VideoCacheView a try. NirSoft has a couple of handy freeware utilities which don't require installation. I don't use any of them myself but they are very popular.

@ jelena I felt exactly the same and therefore changed the main icon: You can find the icon I use just in case you like it better here. Let us know in case you need help to costumize your K-M.

Reminder only for the very few of you using K-M with a local proxy (e.g. Proxomitron) Since K-M (like other browsers as well) handles a local proxy like a normal server you may want to slightly modify xGrind's macro accordingly. # INCREASE MULTI-THREADED DOWNLOAD PERFORMANCE setpref(INT, "network.http.max-connections",60); #setpref(INT, "network.http.max-connections

No matter how paranoid someone might be, that's not a security risk. If the snooping webmaster has a list containing e.g.: www.bigboobies.gov which I've visited than he will know that I was visiting that site. Even so he can't see that I visited e.g.: www.bigboobies/logme_in/pass_ohoh/haleluia.gov Not to mention that all purchases are done over a secure/encrypted connection

I'm no expert let alone of K-Meleon. Nevertheless: QuoteAirSpiritThis site can tell you what sites you've visited using browser's vulnerabilities. Nope, no vulnerability is involved. You can tell which sites have been visited in case JavaScript is enabled in your browser only by comparing against a list of sites the webmaster of the snooping site has prepared. You could avoi

For viewing the cache (I do it very rarely) I'm using XnView which determines the file type by reading the header of the files. Why XnView? - Because I use it anyway as my image viewer. - I can view with it the cache of other browsers (like Opera) as well.

My reply won't be of any help since I don't use any antispyware/virus. I did use many years before AVP(changed its name to KAV since) A properly configured OS and some common sense is my only defense line. In some rare situations when I come across with a suspicious file I firstly verify the file using an online scan service ( http://www.virustotal.com/ or http://virusscan.jotti.org/

Quotegct this page works fine on IE but doesnt work on Kmeleon ... Nor does it work on Opera. Wonder if it would work on IE8. My guess is that flawy coding of the page is causing the problem. Now after reading Guenter's comment I realise that mine is obsolete.

Quoteguenter BTW. I am not sure about IE 8 because it is normally W3O/HTML standart compliant. That's right. The only question is how much and what kind of deviance tolerance M$ will implement nevertheless. AFAIK every browser engine can at a certain limited extent understand code that isn't W3O/HTML standard compliant.

http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2008/02/21/the-internet-explorer-8-user-agent-string.aspx Keep in mind that by simply changing K-M's UA string you won't fool browser sniffing sites. Depending on how browser sniffing is implemented basically it could become impossible to mask as IE.

@ panzer How about simply copy/paste sensitive data instead of using a key scrambler that will do what it promise or won't, depending on how professional the key stroke record device is set up

QuoteJamesD @ Yogi I use the Klassic skin and I just wish it to remain up to date so that it is shipped with KM when a user downloads. I've made some small cosmetically changes to the updated PrivacyBar bitmap of the Klassic skin just for the case it will be shipped with K-M. The changes are indeed small but IMO it looks now a tad better. The 2 bitmaps and all images it contains can be

Quoteguenter Sorry JamesD & Sorry Yogi! Arg - my language problem.

This thread could also serve for users to share their minor visual changes made to the classic skin. Wonder how many of you are still using the Klassic skin? Please don't get me wrong. The question has nothing to do with continuing support of this skin. I'm just nosy.

@ reeko124 Surely not the awaited solution but a solution in any case would be the use of a local filtering proxy. I'm using Proxomitron (there are also other alternatives I never used like Privoxy which is crossplatform and has support for SOCKS) for more than 8 years. It's at least as powerful as AdBlock+ and for sure more versatile (proxy checker/switcher, live header viewer/fake

After all it's nothing else than a 'WAR' for market share -> profit. The internet enabled unforeseen potentialities of tracking people's habits and preferences. The browser is an ideal instrument for collecting and forwarding these valuable informations. The methods become more and more subtly. Some of them are even demanded by most of the bemused average user (e.g. site

Quotedisrupted i never liked the idea of km getting too popular but that was mainly for the forum's quality.. but now there are more reasons to keep km a secret since ms are sticking their nose where it desnt belong and mozilla is obviously allowing them to do it An extended popularity of a software isn't necessarily a benefit for the (advanced) user. A bigger user base means more co

QuoteAirSpirit It has been running for 1 day and 6-7 hours, I've never run a browser non-stop for such a long time in my life and probably never will therefore my question. How does K-M compare to other browsers just in case you did run such Marathons with other browsers as well?

@ roystonlodge 1.) Such tests have a single shortcoming. They are little to no informative how fast on the average, a browser during usual surfing indeed is . Keep in mind that this is only a JavaScript test. You can make a much more convincing and reliably test by your one by loading sites you frequently visit with different browsers and by measuring the time each browser needs to compl

(Normal docshell.dll will be added as a separate download) Will the docshell.dll work with other flavors of K-M than CCF ME as well? I'm asking because I would be curious to try it. Those sites trying to force the browser to refresh the page are a PITA. By now Proxomitron my

QuoteAirSpirit Little offtopic I installed an english version of K-Meleon and found that almost every word in this version is Written From Capital Letter It Looks So Strange For Me, Why Did You Do It? It's just a common practise used by software developers for the english user interface.

Quotedesga2 Yes, Yogi is right, Klassic privacy bar bitmaps have less buttons than Phoenity privacy bar bitmaps. (guenter you can compare it) IMO Guenter's point was another. K-Meleon can be customized in almost any ways (I would add, assuming the user has the skills to do so) in order to fit someones needs. Instead of calling attention to the fact that the Klassic (native) skin doesn
