The loader icon? Right? It does not do it here on XP sp2. I activated the loader to test so that i can tell You. I do not use the loader (many older users do not use it from habbit because it was buggy for many years. Dorian fixed it. I do not use it anymore, since I use more than one K-Meleon version). The loader does not make much impovement on new systems - I doubt that many ppl use it.

Yes that compression gets the real decrease. Not including classic skin and deleting wallet folder gets about 250 kb without much work. The rest is IMHO marginal compared to the effort. Maybe attempt at potable support by default? It was suggested in dev requests forum.

You sure are right (i am blind - a 7zip selfextracting archive would have 5.7mb. A few kb can be saved by joining the xpt. Some reduction is possible by using less skins. You could run a perl script for cleaning comments (license blocks in res and at other places where You could find some left. IMHO we are not using the wallet folder in defaults But whether that is worth it?

Sorry to say - There is AFAIK nothing or not much You can do about it. IMHO the reason is obsolete and/or non standard html code. You sometimes can find out what is wrong when You look into K-Meleon JavaScript / Error Console. MSIE 5.01 - 5.5 had a quirky box model (among other non standart idiosyncracies ), IE. 6.0 - 7.0 still support all this - but already have more standard compliancy. M
