It depends on what conceivabilities and expectations someone with respect to his browser has. Last but not least priorities (fast for surfing, light on ressources, controllable, highly configurable and customizable) and online predilections (like active content yes/no = JavaScript + plugins) of the user might be decisive factors as well. So far for me at least obsolescence is a non-issue. Since

QuoteD_S Very nice background and icons. But why the url bar has to be so long? It takes so much precious space, that's why you have four (!!) bar lines. Simply because the URL bar is the most important toolbar anyway IMO. For some advanced users at least. If average user Jo would give it more importance fishing sites would have less victims. However you can costumize your toolbars

Quoteanti-fanboyall your arguments, like: messed up profile, faulty system etc are just made up assumptions without any fundament. none of you has ever seen the so called trolls pc live. Did you? Quoteanti-fanboyim quite sure paul refered to the constant insulting of poster here which say anything critical against k-meleon. "Maybe when you can really improve this browser to really be

Privacy Bar for the Klassic skin with added options to toggle on/off: proxy server, image animation and colors Works with K-Meleon v1.5.3 and (hopefully) upwards Dependencies: main.kmm and toolbars.cfg Shut down K-Meleon and extract the folders in the respective locations. Before replacing the files in order to avoid any inconveniences rename: privbar_green.bmp to privbar_green.bmp.o

Excerpt from the CNet article: QuoteIn this case the malware, a toolkit called LuckySploit, exploits a known security hole in the browser, and installs the Trojan on the computer. This is a quite misleading statement IMO because: QuoteLuckySploit tries to exploit the same vulnerabilities other toolkits are trying to - Adobe Flash and PDF exploits Source: Finjan report PDF So far it'

It's not K-Meleon's fault. Switch the UserAgent to Fireshit or even better, disable JavaScript.

@Jose Rios As already mentioned before you can use the icon of your choice for K-Meleon. You can hack the resources of the K-Meleon executable (.exe) and modify its look as well. There are many alternative logos you can replace the original one with but IMHO very few which will still look fine at 16px. "If a logo works at 16px, you've cracked it" - John Hicks

A multi-process architecture spawns multiple completely separate processes, with all of the overheads attached to each individual process. Chrome's multi-process model is just an unnecessary ressource hog. Multi-threading and multi-process plugins on the other hand would make sense.

Quotendebord Not quite sure I understand how you use Flash. If you have the plug-in minus Flash, how do you view flash files? I would venture to guess that the KeepVid thing would have to be used with a copy and paste of the flash video URL???? <weak grin> You are right. KeepVid has to be used with a copy and paste of the flash video URL. Generally I don't need the flash plug-in

I delete the flash cookies manually but one might use therefore third party software as well. However flash cookies get stored very rarely on my system since the flash plug-in (I never install flash just grab the plug-in) is basically disabled (renamed). If I'm after a flash video on YouTube, it happens rarely, I prefer to use an online service like KeepVid which also gives me the choice to

QuotendebordHave you used KeyPass or similar? No I didn't and probably never will. I prefer to carry my passwords in my head even if a password manager might be a more comfortable solution. Just in case I might forget a password, I have safely stored them separately on my HD.

As far as I can seee LastPass is an online password manager and form filler. FAQ Might come in handy for many users, excepting some old fashioned ones like me.

Foxit doesn't play rich media (swf). Specially crafted SWF files were embedded into PDF documents causing Adobe Reader 9 & 10 to execute arbitrary code when viewed. Since Adobe Reader 8 doesn't have support for rich media either it is immune to this exploit.

@bksening Sorry I kept silent so long and didn't reply to your post. The reason, I couldn't give away the source of my information nor the nature of the bugs. Maybe it would have been wiser to keep my mouth shut up. However, Firefox 3.5.2 released today will fix several security issues.

QuotexGrind F2 -> Set As Default Browser -> Set K-Meleon as your default browser -> Protocols Now I see what you mean. However MHTM/MHTML/MHT is not a protocol but a web page archive format. Therefore my confusion. Besides, the Gecko engine doesn't support this format.

QuoteraWhen can we test a complete package, even if it's only alpha or beta? Some severe bugs have been introduced with the new JS engine. While Firefox 3.5.1 is a bugfix release it doesn't fix them all. Therefore I wouldn't be so impatient for an official new alpha/beta release for now.

Quotendebordhttp://blog.mozilla.com/faaborg/ I'm overwhelmed by the carefulness regarding Firefox’s approach to privacy. To be more specific: Until now I've shortly tested FF twice since its apparition. In order to disable/enable the referrer for HTTP (+ HTTPS) users had two options: 1. To download an extension to perform such a basic setting 2. Fiddling with about:config where

Quotepanzer I have enough of claims from "big gun browsers" that they are the best ones. Since Km is the best, they are obviously lying (all of them). IMO there is no such thing like the best but only the best to meet your own needs. Therefore no matter how unbiased test results might be, the only realistic way to find out which is the best for you is by investing some time and test
