personally, i don't need km to be cross-platform (win, mac, linux). i don't mind having one browser optimized for win, another browser optimized for mac, and another optimized for linux. if making km cross-platform means making it fatter or slower, it's not worth it.

i'd like to know how to do that. i'm seeing some pages do NOT return to same scroll position, even if i only move 1 page away and come back.

i tried the km memory plugin. --my km was up to 150 megs in task manager. --i clicked 'memory release' in the memory manager. --after done, km was still using 150 megs. no change. --then i restarted km, with same tabs using session manager. --on restart, km was using 90 megs. seems restarting km is currently only way to release unused km memory.

what i observed-- i clicked a link to go forward one page, hit 'back', and arrived at same scroll position. good. the previous page did not reload, was already in cache (?). then i clicked forward links 10 pages forward. then back, back, back to starting page. starting page reloads (not in cache?), and sticks to top-- does not scroll down to last scroll position. not a passwor

When i click "back", i'd like km to scroll down to the my last scroll position. there is a scroll restore extension, but it does not do that.

HOWEVER, KM still suffers from a memory-management problem. after using KM, with one window open, several tabs, for about 24 hours, on many sites, it's RAM was up to 211 megs. KM started to slow down my computer. then i restarted KM, restoring same session with session Saver, and KM's RAM is only 33 Megs-- with the same 6 tabs open. 5 minutes later it's up to 66 Megs, wi

firefox was my preferred browser for years, but it is a HOG and a PIG. FF: consumes more RAM than any other browser i've tried takes longer than km to load takes way longer than km to unload (stays in memory, slowing down machine and eating up ram for several minutes after you close it. you can see it in task manager) km is my favorite browser now. it is fast and light, more features

TimG, unless you enjoy spending hours writing custom macros (which can be fun), the quickest easiest way is to edit or delete accel.cfg in C:\Program Files\K-Meleon\defaults\settings but, beware there's a duplicate in C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\K-Meleon\defaults\settings (on Windows Vista, maybe different on XP) The first applies to all users on your pc,

i seem to have found a simpler way to simply disable all km shortcuts universally, without having to write a custom macro for each website. just move (or delete) defaults\settings\accel.cfg seems to enable keyboard shortcuts on all sites.

wow, thanks JamesD. i'm wondering if there would be a simpler way to simply disable all km shortcuts universally, without having to write a custom macro for each website. i tried putting CTRL I = into accel.cfg, but it did not disable km's ctrl-i behavior.

most benchmarks seem to look at jscript and rendering time, but none seem to look at startup/shutdown time, or memory footprint. km blows ff away on those, in my experience. that's a big deal. ff is a hog compared to km. on shutdown, ff stays in the tasklist way longer than km, consuming a ton of ram.

i thought this was a bug when i started this thread, but it's obviously an 'improvement request'. so it would be cool if the moderator wants to move this to the improvement request forum, if possible. btw, i'm a huge fan of km, don't get me wrong. i want to see km poke a big dent in the other browsers.

theoretically, i suppose gmail might assign a keyboard shortcut to give my pc a virus, but i've never heard of this. i googled it and could not find anything like this. it may exist on some creepy website out there, but that's the risk people take if they browse creepy websites. but why would a creepy website go to the trouble of using a keyboard-shortcut to send you a virus? th
