I hate toolbars, they take up too much space. My lizard is stripped down to its underwear--main, url, and tabs. I do everything I can with a keystroke. Still, with so many psychotic sites around, it's a matter of choosing the lesser evil. I'll have to devote a little time in Obsession Mode to finding a better solution. I'm just being lazy when I babble in forums

Could be system differences letting some of you guys get away with it. I just hit another one. Disabled javascript, and it stopped bouncing. Re-enabled javascript, and it went postal again. What I'd love to find is a way to block certain scripts. Can't block all javascript all the time, that would be Forum Hell. Meanwhile, I either give up and pass the link to Furryfox or go through

This has been bugging me a lot lately. Every so often I hit a site that won't stop refreshing. I have to hit Esc at the right moment to stop it at a point where I can read what I need to. Otherwise K-M keeps reloading the page over and over. Here is an example: http://www.disinfo.com/2010/12/xkcd-wikileaks-vs-anonymous/ It doesn't affect Firefox. I've saved some stuff to tr

Computer has had some odd moods lately. So has K-Meleon. K-M was getting horribly slow to load yesterday, and I couldn't pin down any cause. The usual suspects -- cache, history, etc. -- were all eliminated. After the last bootup, during which Windows complained of having been shut down improperly (and I definitely plead not guilty!) K-M came up all nasty defaultish looking. I was shocked

I don't know the location of the "browser default" checkbox that you mentioned. It might also help to know what version of Windows you have. In the K-Meleon folder, look for the file SetDefault.exe (I hope you have file extensions visible? Letting Windows hide them is not safe and leads to confusion). Double-click it to run it, and let it do its dance. You can't uninstal

I just turned on a new k-m user. We were exploring gopherspace, and he wanted to see the pictures. Hurrah.

I am aware of the options. What I am interested in is why the links get screwed up.

Recently I've been having problems with links in Google searches. I try to open the link in a new tab, but when I go tp that tab, the browser is straining away and getting nowhere. In the address bar, instead of the URL I expect to see, there is a long string of Google-garbage. To get back to normal, I close K-meleon, clear the cache, and delete the history. Then everything is fine until

Well, I'll be dipped. I have to play with this ETA: Hmm. It doesn't like external style sheets. I do. It will sure come in handy for some things though.

Have to share a funny story: I went to the Favorites menu, but the link I wanted had been pushed down off the end by several rows of gibberish and question marks. My first thought was, "What T F did I bookmark yesterday?" Anything can happen when you get a bit sleepy, LOL. So I clicked the "Edit..." link to get a quick look at what was there. Winderz Explorer wouldn't

Now and then I get some site kvetching at me that I have cookies disabled. I check my settings, and everything is fine -- but it's still no cookies. Finally I take a look deeper into cookie management, and find the the site's cookies are being denied. But I did nothing that I know of to cause that! It has happened more than once. This last time, just today, it was Google. To tell the

*Sigh* I just discovered that Google Wave doesn't like K-M too well. Looks like spoof-time has come at last. *Dons Firefox mask and stalks the Wave...*

I'm sure it's been brought up before, but ye olde search didn't find anything. Maybe I'm overlooking a magic macro somewhere too. Anyway.... It would be heavenly to refresh the Favorites menu without restarting K-M after moving or modifying links. Bookmark management is the only thing that makes Firefox look better from some angles. But more satisfying than that is re-or

Download problems are sorted out, I needed to edit mime types. That should take most of those kinks out. There are always some complicated links that don't work well no matter what. I just try them in different browsers or download managers. I still have to budget my tab space carefully. Feels funny having the freedom to open as many windows as I like without worrying about RAM issues, bu

Everyone should b1atch at Yahoo. I loathe their ugly box trap as much as I do hotmail's. I only go to yahoot at all because my workplace has AT&T as a sorry excuse for an ISP. I always use the older interface because it makes more sense anyway.

Ratz. Still no K-M in Jaunty. I've tried over and over. Had it running a couple of times but all it ever did was freeze trying to load something. Could be worse. I have Epiphany, a slim Gecko-based browser that has somewhat the feel of K-M.

I have Mouse Gestures disabled as always. It's only certain kinds of links -- actually K-M does pick up some downloads, but not the odd indirect ones. ETA: Forgot to say, I am using K-M 1.5.3 I have some more definite facts about the tab freezup. My window is 820x640, a size I find comfortable for reading because it keeps lines short. This allows eight tabs of default max size (35). Wh

I'm running Vista x64 now, with UAC disabled and my portableized K-M copied over from my old XP machine. No problems EXCEPT.... I'm having to use Firefox to download a lot of things and another problem that I haven't fully analyzed yet. K-M can't pick up download links that I left click on. All sorts of odd behavior. I'm thinking this might be some carryover of gradual

Huh. AMD Athlon(tm) Processor, 1007MHz Total Memory 512MB ...and very few problems. Of course I have Flash and Java off by default. When I get over ten tabs, I start to look for something to close. I learned how to budget resources on my first 486, and I spit on bloated websites.

I despise and loathe Facefook for more reasons than I have hairs. It is a great example of all that's going wrong with the Web -- bloat, stupidity, bloat, stupidity, and bloat. Oh, and stupidity too. Not even for K-M would I go back. But if you want to see truly evil "social networking", look at MyLife.com (formerly Reunion.com and forever slimy), and others like it that pull credi

In my experience, a firewall is the most important first step in protection. Being "careful" isn't going to keep a worm out, but a firewall can. I have the old Kerio Personal Firewall, it doesn't gobble resources and it has been effective. My antivirus almost never has anything to do.

It is not the same at all! Scrolling toward me zooms in. Scrolling away -- toward the screen -- zooms out. Everything else is the opposite. I always roll the wheel the wrong way when I use Firefox at work. it isn't so hard to remember with other apps, but my brain sees "webpage", my finger does what it always does for K-M, and it is wrong. It's like trying to use a mouse left-

My small problem is the Ctrl+mouse wheel zooming. I have not been able to find anything about this with searh. K-Meleon's zoom direction is the opposite of everything else. It is confusing when switching back and forth with other browsers, Office apps, text editors, almost anything that zooms. And I have to zoom a lot! I would like to change it so that K-M zooms in (bigger) when I wheel forw
