Quotendebord disrupted, I don't know what hex program you use, but I use an old DOS one. So when you find this hex string: 14 6A 02 6A 00 you patch it by changing it to: 10 6A 02 6A 01 At least that is what I think you do??? Am I close or??? Tks. Disrupted may confirm me or not. As far as I can see you are right You can verify the MD5 of your patched file with that

Quotesiria (That lizard thing really looks like a fish head ;-P Just for fun I've uploaded a tinkered .exe K-Meleon v1.5.3 with the mod lizard. It probably will look better on your system than it looks in the image you've posted. It's mainly for testing. The zip file also contains some lizard icons fitting the official logo (16, 24, 32 and 48px). Basically they are all slightl

Quotesiria Well, since I'm just at it, for casual readers, those are the icons we're talking about, in 16px I'm afraid you've forgot one with 16px, namely the one I was talking about

IMHO there already exists an icon fitting perfectly whith the official logo and the browser's name. Also important, it still looks fine at 16pixels. It is the Gecko icon made by Joseph Connors. However that's just my personal opinion and whatever the choice will be I can't be bothered about it since changing an icon is a matter of 1 minute work  Quotesiria Someone posted

@Carlos If you don't want to wait till 1.6 gets released you can download from here an icon that fits the homepage logo. Mine looks so. However it's not cornflower blue (the official logo isn't either) but you can edit the icon and change the color as you like.

It depends. If you bundle your shell with the Trident (or any other engine for that matter) making it functional than you get a web browser (that doesn't require a pre-, installed engine on the system on which you will use it). However I doubt that M$ will give you the sources and licence for the Trident engine.

Quotesiria Well, regarding shells, IMO one could just as well call KM a shell too, for Gecko engine  The gecko is only included because usually it's not preinstalled, but if it were, we wouldn't include it either, or would we? Just my personal view  Sorry, I have to disagree. "Web browser" and "shell" are different notions and have different meanings

Bottom line, Maxthon is not a browser!!! It is just a shell. Those who are advertising Maxthon by calling it a browser either disinform the clueless average user on purpose or are ignorant.

QuoteencoderX Quote IOL Technology While you've probably never heard of Flock, K-Meleon, and Maxthon, these three alternative browsers... Gets Maxthon shipped with a layout engine or it is just another enhanced GUI for some other engine? If the latter is the case than calling Maxthon a browser is misleading to say the least. I see on their page that IE6 or above is a mandatory requiremen

If browser security is their main criteria than one might wonder why Opera has been left out. I never had any confidence toward Google but they get more and more unappealing. After all I don't care. I have never used any of their services except their search . I might dump their search engine as well.

Quotejmillar FB's move may have something to do with the recent privacy alarm bells after GMail accounts in China were compromised using an IE vulnerability that was patched hurriedly just yesterday. No matter what Google was asserting so far it is not at all evident that an IE vulnerability was the culprit: U.S. enables Chinese hacking of Google Quote -- Google made headlines when i

Judging that progress bar from your image, it is IMO quite pointless. I expect more detailed informations from a progress bar than a colored ribbon. The throbber does already basically the same thing as the ribbon. Besides, keep in mind that the status bar also displays the address when hovering over a link.

It's really hard to make a guess. Mozilla might be behind it at some point. Out of question Mozilla has interest in pushing their user base for upgrade. However looking at market share no other Gecko based browser (or even all put together) can be considered as a prospective rival by Mozilla Fx. FB's main goal is revenue. They have no interest to annoy the main vendors (M$ & Mozil

Quotedisrupted it actually proves they facebook are deliberately blocking out either gecko 1.8 or kmeleon in particular It's just a guess but it seems to me that for some reason they are rather pushing Fx users to upgrade. If by all means they would just want to block K-M, masking as Opera would become much more trickier.

Quotepanzer Anti-Crash, Anti-Freezing features would be great. Or not? Even Lataza browser has them. In the strict sense Lataza is not even a browser, it's only an enhanced GUI for the Trident engine. No it wouldn't be great, for me at least. More ressource hog for little to no benefit for me. You can set K-M to open new windows instead of tabs and you will experience the same An

Another powerful editor IMHO is Greenfish Icon Editor Pro. It can also easily convert alpha PNGs to alpha BMPs, convert PNGs, BMPs, GIFs with no alpha transparency into such with alpha transpareny saving them to one of the above formats + ICO . As a matter of course you can also resize (stretch/crop) your images and some nice filters are also included. GFIE Pro is freeware, requires no installat

Quoteguenter K-Meleon gives real ID when asked properly. This is the reason why I prefere spoofing outside the browser. I do it rarely anyway. However spoofing has its limits. It won't be of any help if: - The object of sniffing is browser functionality and not its UA string. - The page contains scrambled code tailored to be rendered properly only by a specific browser. - The br

Quotekko Well, referring to "safe mode" I just meant to say: Provide an application that will most likely run in older, less capable browsers (not having the latest bells and whistles). Of course, older browsers are less secure and this can be a reason to exclude them from online banking, for instance. But I wouldn't say it's the general concern. I would add, it's the l

@panzer You can try AmoK CD/DVD Burning. Not sure but if I recall exactly it can burn ISO/multisession. It's a fine lightweight portable burner for Windows.

QuoteJujuLand I definitively think that Windows is a shit, and if I'm not really happy of the forced selling which is illegally made by Microsoft (it's illegal in France, but authorities curiously don't do anything against it), but for sure the Windows monopole protects Linux users against viruses, and I'm happy for this. A+ Fully agree about the 'illegal' force
