Quotesiria Apparently the HSTS supercookies (fingerprinting) are now stored in a simple separate text file, instead of sqlite: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2919581 https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?t=14486 Actually the different location is a huge step forward, if that file can now be blocked by simple write-protection (hope it works??) Sorry for replying

It works for sure. I've done it for ages and nothing was written to that file. By doing so you disable a potential security layer at the expense of privacy. It's a personal choice. In KM-Goanna you can set network.stricttransportsecurity.enabled to false to achieve the same result.

@guenter I recall a discussion I had years ago with a dev working for a mainstream browser... I could be wrong but it might have nothing to do with UNIX approach but rather with this. It's not my intention to spark off a new discussion, so please consider this just a sketchy hint.

Off Topic QuoteJ.G. (I apologize but it's easy to harm this browser if you disable the 'wrong' k-plugin or macro and IMHO some k-plugins and macros should be protected better)*. There is no protection against stupidity. But there is hope for the next generation of universal browser for everybody - stupid or smart, happy or unhappy. Nothing to disable, nothing to screw up

Quotesiria You are an expert of such stuff, Yogi. Thanks for the flowers but I'm not. Quotesiria Always under the condition: those automatics are not FORCED upon expert users who want it different. "FORCED" - exactly that was my point though I'm not an expert user. As long as the user is given a decent choice to quickly override, I couldn't care less with how man

Quoterodocop And I plan ask roytam1 for some possible changes in old modules keeping the same idea in mind: make KM better and more user-friendly. "User-friendly" - this term can be interpreted very broadly. Any chance for disclosing what those changes should accomplish? Wouldn't the Improvement requests forum be best suited for such tasks?

QuoteRekufad You might be interested in this: https://github.com/MoonchildProductions/Pale-Moon/blob/master/browser/branding/shared/pref/uaoverrides.inc IMHO, for a browser you can control most if not all those prefs are redundant. Of course, if you are a developer and you want to earn some money for your hard work & time invested, you'll opt for a per site override. So you can mak

BTW , Quotehermes It was not about me. I could not understand your desire to stubbornly keep the original set is empty (without any filters at all) that is strategically wrong. Did you even read my post? QuoteTherefore including the filter in the official package would indeed make sense.

Quotehermes YogiQuote I don't exactly undersand what "status quo" refers to. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Status_quo I know what "status quo" means. Quotehermes As I understand it, you are satisfied with the status of quo. I wasn't sure what you refer to when using those words.

Quotehermes As I understand it, you are satisfied with the status of quo. I don't exactly undersand what "status quo" refers to. If you mean the way LAVFilters are offered (as a separate download) - yes. Quotehermes Like as you said, none of "users" will read not only this forum, but in General anything. And browser (from someone, from one of friends, as example) i

@siria And how can even an advanced user know that the brand-new official package can be "upgraded"? By spending hours reading the forums? And even so, after each browser update those filters have to be "upgraded" too because they will be replaced by the default ones. On the other hand, a download link with a hint, that points to the LAVFilters (as roytam1 did) allows eve

Quotesiria Sounds like those magic LAV-files should most definitely be included Unzipped just 3-4% of whole KM-folder-size, that's worth it. It's not about file size but the adequate selection. That's probably the reason roytam1 didn't include them by default. IMHO, leveling them to the least common denominator wouldn't be the most appropriate approach.

Quotehermes FF does not have this feature (or defect). I got it - or I think so at least. Correct me please if I'm wrong: Those memory leaks (in case of embedded vids) can only occur with browsers (e.g. KM-Goanna) using code that makes possible to view MP4-files on systems that don't have native support for H.264. Other browsers (e.g. KM-Gecko or FF) are not affected. To avoid such

Quotehermes FF has no such features. The standard version of FF is not able to use LAV filters. I knew that. The reason for the screenshot was another. The memory leak caused by some embedded videos you and others experience, doesn't affect FF too? Or is it only my computer where it doesn't show up? Quotehermes In other words, the use of LAV justified in any configuration (it sho

screenshot As you can see the hits are located in the application's own folder created by me (portable). I don't see how KM could make any use of that avcodec-57.dll. However, if you wish so, I could make a new test after deleting those folders.

Quotehermes Because I have a question. How do You manage to avoid a memory leak? It is almost impossible. Or You have something installed packages, programs, video players or other things that adds the desired component. Or You just wildly lucky . This is everything installed on my computer and I want to keep it that way - as clean as possible. screenshot All other software I use is por

Quotehermes And you do not have a codec pack in your system? Sure? I'm absolutely sure! This was a brand-new computer which I formated after delivering (to get rid of preinstalled crap) and then made a fresh (tailored) install of the OS (Win7 x64) from the original CD shipped with the computer.

Quotehermes For thrill-seekers, delete LAV filters (or conduct an experiment on a clean system, e.g. on virtual machine) and open link on Windows7+: http://www.atlantiswordprocessor.com/en/help/atlantips_translation_side_by_side.htm Start video playback. ... In parallel, look in task Manager. Note how long your system can be work (from 3 to 5 minutes). It depends much on the hardware you ar

@hermes My point was that on Win7 and upwards H.264 should play without the LAV-Filter as well, or am I missing something? Edit: Well, made a short test. Opened a 1.5GB H.264 video in KM-Goanna. It played fine without the LAV-Filters. Then I did wind forward and KM crashed. I could easily reproduce the crash. It wasn't because of RAM shortage. RAM consumption was about 225MB while I

Quoteroytam1 for forcing facebook using html5 video player, add this in about:config general.useragent.override.facebook.com = Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:99.9) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/99.9 (Pale Moon) I tested with a spoofed UserAgent already before posting here. Quotehermes You can write a simple macro and put a button or combination of keys. Thanks! I didn't know about that hidden pref. I tested and it works. The button is already there. It's the little lizard in in the Klassic skin. That's wherefrom one can already can switch the UA by right click (dependencies: useragent.kmm + useragent.js). If I understand correctly, it means that
