Hello Fred, I used Firefox 3.6 for the first time the other day and it was *f*a*s*t*. That is the gecko 1.9.2 I assume. On the Peacekeeper benchmark 3.6 registered a 2750 when Firefox 3.5.3 is at 2175 (the scores only apply to the machine they were tested on). Wow (or maybe Firefox has learned to score higher on that particular test). How does it look for using gecko 1.9.2 in a Kmeleon?

Hi Fred, i am getting confused (which is nothing new for me). What are the differences between 353 and this sm2 pre? There was a previous SM2, am I right? Does this succeed 353? Well, I know 353 is built with Firefox 3.5.3--and that uses gecko 1.9.1.x. Then SM2 is built with the seamonkey 2beta, which also uses gecko 1.9.1.x. Am I right that neither of them uses kmeleon 1.6. I found an

urlclassifier.sqlite I didn't see it mentioned explicitly, but as I understand it "urlclassifier.sqlite" is used for Firefox's "Attack Sites and Web Forgeries" protection . They had a big problem when it was first implemented because it would immediatley download 40-60 MB which made everything stop. Then they had it download what it needed more reasonably. In Fi

Hello again Fred, I am having a problem with drop down menus in SM2a3 (in linux). When I try to use them the program freezes. I don't know if it has been this way all along or if this is new, because I don't think I have used Preferences much. These two examples both cause a freeze when I attempt to use the drop down menu. Thanks. Edit -. Preferences -> Browsins -> Typed UR

Fred This is an interesting result I think. Running SM2 in wine 1.1.18 (actually cxover 8a) there were significant differences (~20%) in times on the sunspider javascript benchmark depending on what version of windows wine was set to. Wine/Windows98 1427 Wine/Windows2000 1191 Wine/WindowsXP 1360 I have always heard Windows 2000 ws the fastest and I guess that applies to

Thanks again for CCFME Hao. I just thought that it might be nice if you could round the upper corners when it displays without the Windows titlebar, if that was possible. Just a thought.

I should have mentioned that SM2a3 in the picture was running in wine 1.1.17 on Wow's Unnamed Puppy, along with an smp kernel (2.6.28.5). I just checked SunSpider and it's hard to believe but running in wine SM2a3 scored a 1267 and Firefox for Linux 3.1b3 scored a 1670!!! Lower is better.

Fred, I thought you might like to see SM2a3 running with transparency on "Wow's Unnamed Puppy Linux," a variant of the standard Puppy 4.1.2.

I run K-Meleon on my "hackintosh. using Crossover Mac. It's Leopard 10.5.5 running Crossover Mac 7.1.0 and KM 1.5.2. Crossover Mac is a version of wine optimized for Macintosh OSX (which is Unix underneath it all, so wine was easy to port). You can download a trial version of Crossover Mac from codeweavers.com. KM doesn't run well enough to use routinely however on my machine

Yes, the version I just downloaded did not have the startup problem. The earlier version did have the problem. thanks, it's like driving a good sports car Hao add: I just had a problem. Options -> Adblock Options gave a luamacro error about a missing file. I couldn't copy it. If you cannot reproduce I will write down the error. http://www.weather.com/weather/map/inter

Hi Fred, I have been running SM2-W (I thought it was W2--updaing now) for a day now in Arch Linux and and wine 1.1.13 and have some good impressions. One, is that the url bar seems to update properly--which has been a problem with Linux adaptations of K-Meleon. I am running it by opening a terminal in the SM2 folder and then using the command "wine k-meleon.exe," for whatever that mig

I am afraid I have to agree with soccerfan, still no scrollbar in xpsp3 or 4 whichever it is, the most recent. I even deleted K-Meleon folders from Application Data (2 folders) and unzipped to a new folder. I am wondering if there is somethign we are overlooking, but I can't guess what it is.

I had not thought of it either Fred--K-Meleon on a Mac--but I just came into a Mac. In case I didn't explain it clearly, Crossover adapted their version of Wine to run on the Mac's Darwin (not even requiring X11 I don't think). That was great marketing I think. Since I test K-Meleon and other software for them i get their software and so I downloaded Crossover Mac and it installe

@Fred, I have stumbled on a new trick--new to me anyway, running K-Meleon on a Mac. It's Leopard 10.5.5 running Crossover Mac 7.1.0 and KM 1.5.2. My original goal was to run your SM2, but this was easier to start with. I'll let you know as I learn more. I'll be testing on Puppy and Arch also.

Thanks for this Fred. I can't wait to try it in Linux--well, as soon as I get a new power supply for my Linux laptop.

QuoteGuenter You just copy the needed K-Meleon files and folders into its install directory. K-Meleon can easily change Agent string. This is something I have been wanting to learn. It would be another step to understanding K-Meleon. Is it written down anywhere? I mean, "which are the needed files and folders?" That is a good use of khtml browsers; thanks. I also play with Aro

i investigated Iron when it was first released. I even used Codeweavers Crossover Chromium to get Iron working in Linux. I have had it on my Windows machine ever since, but I have found that I never use it at all. My need for speed is satisfied by CCFME 0.09 now at RC1, which outperforms Iron by 1885 vs. 2255 on Sunspider on my machine. I had hoped to use CCFME as my work browser but those onl

I buried my questions in a bunch of blather, so here they are again. 1) There is a spell check I think; how do I get it? Or, does spellcheck-ext110 work with this CCF? 2) The IE page option asks me to get a plugin; but that doesn't seem to work. I click to get the plugin and then it says "After Installing the plugin, click here." Comment. It is so fast it is spooky. I sw

Wow, this thing just keeps getting better and better. The button to use IE is useful to me becuse I often need to make sure a page looks right in both browsers. I have always liked the icons to enlarge and shrink the page, and now just the type itself. And all of the traditiona KM virtues of configurability, privacy oiptions, usuability. I am going to try to use KM-CCFME as my "work"

Hi Fred, I have been enjoying your Kmfox. It has been running well in wine 1.1.5--not a single crash! Nothing tricky about starting it up either. I would say it has been as stable for me as 1.5.0 has. I ran it on sunspider javascript benchmark and it was at about 16,000--on that computer Iron was at about 9800. Firefox/Minefield 3.1beta was at about 14,000. I do have one problem, scroll

Thanks desga2, I should have been more specific. I use linux mainly now and I routinely use 1.5.0 and Fred's NX-series in wine. Even running in wine I have found that they compare favorably (with regards to speed and memory and cpu usage) with the fastest full-featured native linux browser, which is Opera in my experience. I also advocate for K-Meleon on the Codeweavers website (makers of

It should work fine desga2, K-meleon in Virtualbox inside of linux. One problem though is that the arrangement would require that one own a license for windows--many people do have one or more licenses laying around these days though. K-Meleon would run with no problems in virtualbox. K-Meleon should run faster with less overhead in wine however. If someone is already running wine it would be

The debian/Ubuntu version of arora that is available on their site http://www.arora-browser.org is version 0.4 (it identifies itself as that anyway in Help: Aout--even though the file says 0.3) Anyway javascript works and it says on the Screenshots page that Flash and youtube are available if afrora is "compiled against the webkit trunk." In the one I am running flash doesn't see

Yes Fred, I hope you will keep up with NX as long as possible. I am thinking that in my linux/wine setup it runs snappier than 1.5 (though 1.5 is very nice, and I am glad to have the true tabs and other things). And in both your enhancements are extrememly nice. best, pd
