I have this problem too. I don't have further info jet. EDIT: problem solved, Flash player wasn't installed. This sounds a bit stupid, but I think I deinstalled the flash-player before for a reason (becouse it didn't work?). I runned the flashplayer installer and now it works. ehh.. I'm sorry for not being of any help... (can't delete this useless post of me ether).

If the skin you use is different, like for example boxed_classic, you need to edit it in a different way. When I open 36 new tabs (on a full row) it hangs on tab 36 (tab-amount might be depended on the screen resolution, at his moment this is 1024x768) I do use this amount of tabs regularly so it is important for me. K-Meleon 1.1.6 didn't have this problem (with layers). Didn't test this in other Gecko browsers yet, but it wasn't a problem in Maxthon.
