There is a security update for Adobe Reader 8.0. You can read about the security problem here: http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/news/2219920/adobe-issues-critical-fix To update the Adobe reader, double click on the Adobe Reader icon, click on "Help" in the top menu, and select "Check for Updates" from the pull down menu. It will do the rest.

Seamonkey usually installs bookmark.html in the folder c:\Documents and Settings\yourname\Application Data\mozilla.org\Seamonkey\Profiles\funnynumber Using Windows explorer, take that path and find bookmarks.html. Select the file by left clicking on it with your mouse, then hold down the Ctrl key and the C key simultaneously on your keyboard. (This will copy the file) K-M usually stores its boo

Here is one reason to be cautious about the new Firefox 3.0 - "What we can confirm is that about five hours after the official release of Firefox 3.0 on June 17th, our Zero Day Initiative program received a critical vulnerability affecting Firefox 3.0 as well as prior versions of Firefox 2.0.x." - quoted from full article here: http://dvlabs.tippingpoint.com/blog/2008/06/18/vulnerabilit

Hao does use 7-zip to compress his file (so you might need to download the file again). Using 7-zip to uncompress the file from Windows Explorer (right click the mouse with the file selected choose 7-Zip from the drop down menu), you can unzip in the directory you are in or aim it at Program Files. It should make a directory called \K-MeleonCCFMEO.09Beta1V5. Using Windows Explorer, you should be

@casper - Hao's builds are experimental. As desga2 points out, he has omitted the XUL component and uses Lua as the basis of his Macros. So, while safe, they are in development, so they may not always run on everyone's machine. Hao's builds do run faster normally than K-M. This v5 is really very fast. However, there is a problem with its running javascripts. Hao does base his build

This newer version that noel-pg2 has found is faster than its predecessors. Hao has fixed the favicons so that they display properly. You still have to insert: user_pref("browser.chrome.favicons", true); user_pref("kmeleon.favicons.titleBar", true); into pref.js to display all the icons - but now they are very clear for XP SP3. The only problem I encountered so far is wit

There is an experimental K-M based upon the same GRE as Firefox 3 put out by Hao, if you would like to get somewhat of an idea what K-M would be like with the new GRE: http://kmeleon.et8.net/K-MeleonCCFME0.09Beta1V5.exe .

I cannot answer for Hao, but there does seem to be a version 5. Have downloaded it to see what it is like. Thanks for finding it noel-pg2.

@brian What version of Windows are you using? The profile.ini file will be in the folder where the k-meleon.exe file is. If you do not have an ini file in the folder where you just installed 1.5beta2, on start up, it will try to make itself multi-user. If you have another K-M installed (like 1.1.5), it will be incompatible and fail or it will mess up your 1.1.5 install's profile.

Not exactly clear on what you mean. If you are trying to say that you want to open a page in the background but leave the focus on the page in the foreground, click on Tools-Mouse Accelerators and choose Seamonkey or Firefox.

I am using the 1.5b2 K-M spoofing with Firefox 2.0. When I go to the page, I see a shirt and underneath it I see a tag that says Zoom/View Larger. I am presuming that these words are what you don't see? Clicking on these words brings up a flash application in a window, Using Firefox and IE 7, the page renders exactly the same as K-M 1.5b2

You could try spoofing the page. Tools-User Agent-Firefox 2.0 . This usually works.

Well, you don't actually import your bookmarks, you copy them though. Since it depends where you installed the two different browsers, they can be hard to find. 1) Bring up your K-M 1.15, click on Edit-Configuration-Profile Directory. When this comes up, click on bookmarks.html with your mouse so that it is highlighted, then hold down the Ctrl and C buttons on the keyboard at the same ti

@desga2 - After putting the cursur in the url bar and pressing UP and Down - it performs as it is supposed to. It goes to a previous or the next url that was typed in with these exceptions - whenever about:plugins or about:config is in the list, it skips them. I am using 1.5beta2.

Generally, caktus, you can copy everything from \Profile\funnynumber from your 1.5a2 to your 1.5b2 directory (\Profile\funnynumber). Moreoften than not this works fine. Sometimes, you may have to re-enter passwords for some sites. I would, however, make a backup of the 1.5b2 directory before you copy the other over just in case.

Thanks, ndeborg, didn't know that. Actually, I believe that all Gecko browsers can spoof the id of other browsers by adding the preference name general.useragent.override in about:config and then give the user string of the browser you want to spoof. I've done it to Seamonkey so that it can play videos on MSNBC making the site think it is Firefox.

It may or may not be a false positive. Look in your \Windows\system32 folder. If you see the following .dll's, download a program called vundofix.exe and run it: mllmm.dll pmnlk.dll urqomkj.dll There is a variety of other places trojans hide - mainly in \Documents and Settings subfolders usually under \OEM or other places. Usually, when a file resides in \system32 you can't delete i

Off the top of my head, it is time to find out how good your anti-virus is working. It sounds like you may have a trojan or a piece of malware installed.

I really do not know why the FlashPlayer does this; cookies are set for a variety of reasons. You probably have to presume that they help with particular settings to act as shortcuts especially on slower computers or limited bandwidth. But, as you infer, once they are set without the users knowledge, someone could take advantage of them.

kko, you do an outstanding job of working on K-M for us. You deserve a lot of credit, and I do not wish to make you angry. But, in this case, you've overlooked a few things - little things to be sure - but they're the little irritations that you don't want to perpetuate when this beta matures. Generally, as I go through a beta, I change little or nothing from the way it installs

Your question is most certainly clear. And, you seem very knowledgeable about all things dealing with Shared Objects. To answer your question, there is nothing in K-M that deals with FlashPlayer "Cookies". You can block flash being able to run under K-M, but it has no facility to get at either LSO or DOM "cookies" for that matter. I am not even certain that Objection still

Thank you, ndeborg. Ironically, it is found under Tools- Mouse Accelerators, which has three choices besides Default - Firefox 2.0 Seamonkey 1.1 and Opera 9.2. One more option than User Agent!! As I said, ironic. The browser's performance is extremely quick. Have no idea how Dorian did this, but it paints the screen extremely quickly. At the same time, the memory footprint is tiny compara

Found the cause of the Scroll button behavior. Under Tools-Mouse Accelerators, change the value to Default rather than Firefox 2.0 and the program will behave as it used to - that is, as it was originally defaulted - Middle click or Scroll button will bring up a tab in the foreground whan an url is clicked on.

Apparently, heshy, Homepate has a glitch in 1.50b2. This is the advice that KKO recommended: "Open about:config and type "home" into the filter bar. Copy the value of pref browser.startup.homepage, create a new string pref kmeleon.general.homePage and paste the value from the clipboard." I do not use favorites but bookmarks. Someone who does use favorites I am sure will he

Symantec went back and forth on whether the most recent version of Flash player is affected by the zero-day exploit. The most recent version is 9.0.124.0. Most do not believe it has been affected. Before installing or re-intalling the newest Flash, you may want to run the uninstall Flash player utility: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157 to make sure that older ver

Because there are several versions of K-M, to resolve your questions, to give you instructions as to what to do, it helps to know what version you are using.

In almost all previous incarnations of K-M when one clicked on an underline text in Google with the Scroll button on the mouse, this would start a new tab (or layer) and then the focus would be directed to new tab in the foreground. 1.5Beta2 brings it up in the background. Why the change? Can you change this behaviour and how would you do so?
