QuoteOpera Fanboy It has a special feature called 'Opera Turbo'. It will compress pages and images, making them load faster. It still won't make it as fast as a broadband connection, but it's still faster than without using it. I can't see any difference on my broadband connection except low quality images because of the compression. Only useful on a dial-up with a slow

Quotesantamaria I'm using 1.6.0 and have noticed this problem quite a few times. I don't know if it is just a problem for me or something. Take this web page: Long web page It got fixed in K-Meleon 1.7.0 alpha2. Alpha builds are not meant for a productive environment but rather for testing. However this alpha works fine for me. You might give it a try for testing.

QuoteFredThe possible better speed seems for me mainly concerning faster javascript execution, caused by a faster Javascript engine. For me personally, this is not that important, as I turn off javascript most of times. I use it only sporadically if it is absolutely necessary. Ditto! QuoteFredThe features that make K-Meleon more interesting for me than the other browsers is the possibility

Quotedisrupted naturally they will sniff you and cripple you out but doesn't mean your browser is incapable of running their apps, a move like that means they are all in it together.. Fully agreed. A hypocritical statement of Google, period. Google also omits to mention Opera among modern browsers and they do it on purpose. They have often sent garbage code to the Opera UA-string in the p

QuoteMXB Thought it didn't work at first but it appears one must exit and reload K-M before any change takes effect. I'll try and remember that in future. Toggling Proxy on/off doesn't need to exit and reload K-M. Changes take effect as soon as you hit the toggling button. At least that's how it works with 1.5.4 here. I can't tell for 1.6 beta which I didn't teste

I don't use any security software for aprox 4 years. Last FW I've used was Jetico PFW and last AV I've used was Kaspersky. It's a long time since my system (w2k) got infected with malware. Never had to deal with malware for the last 8 years. Maybe I'm just lucky. My only defense line are a task manager (not the one shipped with w2k) and a tool showing the autostart loca

Quoteenaitzjga If you download the EICAR virus test file in a .txt, most antivirus will find it. They will find it because of the included signature. It's a harmless test to show if signature detection of an AV works. As desga2 mentioned a text file is harmless. It remains harmless no matter what extension you will append to a text file.

@ Rockspecht Being a long time Opera user I can give some answers to both questions. 1. The only benefit is that opening of closed tabs will be performed instantly since all the data is already loaded into memory. The downside is an increased usage of memory for this little benefit. QuoteRockspechtIt does, unless you have a certain caching option enabled. 2. It doesn't and never d

QuoteRockspechtOpera uses a lot memory for the "reopen a closed tab feature", please don't forget that. Admitting that you are right, raises at least 2 questions worth to think about. 1. What's the large benefit of storing closed tabs in memory anyway? 2. Gets respective alocated memory released by clearing the list of opened tabs?

QuoteSoerenB Hi, all, just trying to help focusing goals clearer: does the vast majority here agree that new users should have at least a basic understanding of what a file, a folder, and a profile are? Whatever the vast majority here would agree on, after being emphatically warned twice, there is no need for any basic understanding of what a file, a folder, and a profile are. Keep it sim

QuotesiriaSad but certainly true Seeing that every single day KM has an average download rate of some 2000 downloads, it's surprising that nearly no one of them ever posts in the forum, ... Better not know how many drop it again right away :-( The vast majority. KM doesn't make an exception. It happens to all browsers in the ballot and there is little to do about it. Nevertheless

On major version changes I prefer a clean install. A general practice regarding most software I use. Major version changes are rather rare and the extra time for customization is something I consider to be worthwhile. This one was a minor version change and I did an install over the top. As expected everything went fine. Quotendebord The one thing that consistently escapes me though is the

At first glance the problem you describe is the same I had once before. I had once a similar nightmare after kicking XP Pro and trying to install W2k. It took me a whole night to fix the problem. M$ doesn't like if you do such things and therefore tries to make it as difficult as possible  If your sister has a warranty and it applies to her problem than let the 'Pros' fix t

Quotedisrupted...maybe hao can implement it in official kmeleon I wouldn't be very enthused with my files stored on an untrusted third party server but that's probably just me. After all you have the choice between using this feature or not. As long as the implementation would consist of a folder you can easily delete I could live with it (Opera's implementation is pretty diff

Another option of course is to create your own HTML-file with the screenshots (as many as you like) of your choice. You can design it however you wish and use it as 'speed dial'.
