QuoteYogi Nice to see that I'm not the only one on this subject QuotendebordHow about I beat the drum for your position on this? <VBG> It might be worth a try IMO  After all Dorian and the handful main contributors will have to decide what's best for K-Meleon and its small user base. Yogi, Yes, but as they have not been around recently, the rest of us natives h

QuoteYogi The site works with K-Meleon 1.7.0 alfa2 and Fred's unofficial KM-16-F3624 as well. My hint concerns only K-Meleon 1.5.4 and 1.6.0 beta2 which IMO are the most used. I'm using Fred's latest build for now. So far it makes little sense wasting the limited time and resources on finalizing v1.6.0 because it would be already obsolete at the time it would become final. Quotemarkmf Right, so it works. Thank you. markmf, Something there in how the site works. It is looking probably only for newer javascript, as it opens in Firefox 8 with no problem.

QuoteRonery Mediafire now has added a "Dismiss and continue anyway"-button, after clicking which, the site functions normally using K-Meleon. I now have beta2 installed, don't know if that makes a difference. Also funny how Google filters your search results when using Firefox... Ronery, Plain Vanilla Google I avoid whenever possible. I use Scroogle in FF and KM instead.

QuoteMr. Cooper Odd. It's happening again. K-Meleon works only intermittently with Hotmail, but IE always works. Since K-Meleon adheres strictly to standards that MS blatantly disregards, I'm chalking this up to MS coding Hotmail Live poorly. *shrug* Mr. Cooper, Just got into Hotmail with no problems. Which version of K-Meleon are you using and Operating System. XP PRO SP3

QuoteYogi Thanks for the link. Minimalist and handy. No reboot just one click to register or unregister the driver. I like it. Yogi, Yeah, it is minimalist... never thought about it that way, but the author wasn't interested in totally reinventing the wheel, just perfecting an existing ramdrive from MS that needed work. There's lot more to do with it than I did, as I too just ran i

QuoteValensina Quoterodocop Sure, you'll need KEM http://kmext.sourceforge.net/kem.htm to use extensions free and easy but it's all about just unzipping and copying, so you can ;-) Indeed, I managed to unzip and copy the kmextman stuff to the K-Meleon folder. However, I still can't see the macro. Whatever, I do not really want to add another browser, let alone IE. As yet

Quoterodocop ndebord, I'm not sure I understand you post properly. Visiting this links hangs your KM 1.6b2? Right? And other browsers seem to have problems there? What can I say... I haven't any problem with current links even with 1.5.x I particularly wonder about Opera cause this is Opera hosted file sharing project "Opera Unite". O! Seems like I understood! Th

Quoterodocop phenix, take it easy! KM is not heavily developed as many others, but it still very usable in versions KM 1.6 and 1.7 (they have some small limitations - each theirselves own, but being used together - in parallel - they can handle 99,9% of www). So it seems that today's KM will remain actual at least for next year and we can expect that developers will make new version d

QuoteValensina I don't know how to use the macro. browser.kmm is in the macros folder and macro extensions is enabled, but I can't find the macro anywhere (yes, after restart). Valensina, Sorry, I"m not the author. Try this. Look in the main menu TOOLS, you should see an entry for Open in Browser. Click on it and it should say Add a new Browser. Then it will ask you for a n

QuoteValensina Is it still safe to use good but old K-Meleon? Some people are saying it is irresponsible, because the browser has not been updated for a very long time. I would hate to part with K-Meleon, although there are problems on a number of web pages, unfortunately a growing number of pages. Valensina, Two thoughts for you... use useragent switcher which helps with some pages, also

Features I would like: Freeware (mandatory) Automatic mounting of the ram drive at windows start (mandatory) Indexing disabled (would be nice) Compression (would be nice) Yogi, This is what I u

QuoteValensina I can only agree but not ease your mind. K-Meleon is the browser I like best - perhaps since Netscape. I have just tested Midori, it is less annoying than IE and the others but still not good enough. As long as it is safe to use K-Meleon I'll stick to it. But is it safe? Valensina, I ran Secunia PSI 2 and it said that K-Meleon 1.6 beta 2 was still safe... I would very muc

QuoteJamesD @ ndebord I have never patched a file. I have no idea. The file that I am using says it is an incubator build. I guess that is like a beta or something. zbuck said it would not work on 64 bit windows 7. My op sys is the 32 bit Win 7. So far it has worked just fine for me. JamesD, I have patched this file, but not with the last few releases. I just used a hex editor a

QuoteMevlut Could you please distribute an updated k meleon version with gecko 8 ? Mevlut, No can do... Mozilla Corp. discontinued its embed policy, which was the method by which Gecko was modified to work with spinoffs, like K-Meleon. That means that, in the short term, nobody has managed to get the new Gecko 2.0 (firefox 8) to work with K-Meleon. http://techblog.weblineindia.com/news/mo

QuoteFred @ rodocop Gecko 1.9.2.x does not work with KM 1.6 exe. The kplugins from KM 1.5 work, together with the added 70s runtimes. This is a difference from KM 1.7 alpha, where kplugins create problems. @ ndebord To replace Adblock, enable CSS adblocking in Preferences/Content Filters. This will eliminate most adverts. Enable also Flashblock there, because many adverts are Flas

Quoterodocop Just one point: typeahead aka find-as-you-type not autocomplete. And as for me, I need it on a few sites only, but these are my everyday and important sites (forum) which is much more comfortably explored with typeahead on. So, thus a small, not-everyday, utility becomes irreplaceable :-) rodocop, Gotcha. Either way, I don't need it, but we who use KM, like our oh-so c

Quoterodocop All versions, containing KM 1.7 exe, miss: - compatible AdBlock - compatible NoScript - working typeahead - ability to change some settings in Preferences rodocop, Adblock is the sticking point for me... have seen the preferences issue, as for typeahead, aka autocomplete, I can do without it. Never liked NoScript. My concern is Gecko.... K-Meleon needs to get to Gecko 1.

QuoteFred The exe is from KM 1.7, the kplugins from KM 1.5 , because the kplugins of the newer versions do not work with Gecko 1.9.2.24 from Firefox 3.6.24 . Fred Fred, Do you know what works and does not work with this version? I ask because I would like to move to Gecko 1.9.2 from FF 3.6.xxx instead of 1.9.1 from FF 3.5.xx that is used in the KM 1.6b2 version. Tks.

QuoteFred Firefox 3.6 is still fully supported, and may be supported longer than many think, because Firefox 7 and higher are problematic in various older systems, which are still supported and used by many. Using a K-Meleon based on Firefox 3.6 is probably much safer than using a Firefox 11 Nightly, whose Gecko has not been tested at all by a wider user group. Fred Fred, Don't

Please, give us some clue? adXok, There are 2 main developers, one of whom says work will start up again this Winter. There is a 3rd guy who is working on a beta 3 for KM 1.6. And then there is Fred's homebrew which is a combination of the K-Meleon 1.7alpha engine with parts

I have popups and java
