You have to set "Accept Cookies" to "Always" in the "Privacy & Security" section of its Preferences. Then open about:config and make sure that "network.cookie.cookieBehavior' is set to 0.

That message has nothing to do with K-Meleon, just the core that it uses. The core it uses is out-of-date for a reason. The ones newer than v31.x.x cannot be used with it.
