@guenter Since you are an old ZA user I uploaded a White Paper from ZoneLabs. In case you didn't read it before, it might be of some interest. Interesting that the vast majority of ZA users never read this document although it was public. I recall there have been several threads on DSLR about ZA phoning home. One of them grew to an impressive lenght, untill it got closed. I digged for

I never used ZA so I can't answer your question. The best place to ask would be a ZA user forum. However if ZA never prompts for K-Meleon itself than either you have misconfigured your firewall or ZA is a trash can candidate.

Size matters but its priority is low. IMO there are far more important priorities to be taken into consideration. - Rendering: ability, quality, speed - Functionality (requirements may hugely differ among users) - Manageability - Usage of ressources - Size Since there is no perfect software, we end up sticking with what we think to be the best compromise, fitting best our needs

QuotebigD Yogi: There are 2 browsers that claim they can use both the Gecko and Trident engines. You simply select which engine to use on the fly. I was aware of browsers using multiple engines (including Trident) or such solely using the Trident engine. I had a browser in mind that doesn't use the Trident engine but still can accurately render sites developed 'specially' for

@guenter Wie erwartet, ist zwischen v4.02.03 und v3.11.12 kein Geschwindigkeitsunterschied. Leider habe ich auch nur die en-US.

QuotegdvAnyone know if that is a possible risk? Nope. In case the server is passing wrong information, the browser will try to render the file (as in the case above) and in worst case scenario it will crash.

PDFxViewer is indeed a very fine choice. However those who just need a basic PDF viewer as fast as PDFxViewer while consuming less resources will opt for Foxit. My early FoxitViewer (slightly modified German flavor of v1.2 <grins>) has 800kb and consumes 6.068KB opening the same PDF which for PDFxViewer needs more than 20.000kb. Someone could maybe try to rewrite the macro to promt FastStone Capture instead. v5.3 last freeware, works like a charm. It's one of the most powerful, lightweight, yet full-featured screen capture tool for Windows I know. Yes, it also has option for saving those parts, that aren't visible and must be scrolled. However I prefer to fire FastStone separately and keep K-M as lean as

Quotedisruptedopera by default is ie i think My bad but I'm not quite sure what you exactly mean. Opera by default identifies as Opera. You can only mask Opera on a per site basis in order to bypass sites blocking Opera purposeful. Concerning Opera's rendering engine it's the Presto engine, an exclusive of Opera Software developement.

Quoteguenter 2.) guenter? merely fixed "crash on applet pages" and "plugins.html error". The noXUL is from Fred. My bad, sorry for the mistake. Dass ich immer ins Fettnäpfchen treten muss @Fred I've tested KM1.5.2-L-minimal. Fine work. A minor glitch I've found in the privacy bar. It works but the check/uncheck symbols don't change accordingly. --

Quotecaktus Probably the new Opera 10 may be about as fast. But it still has far too much unnecessary eye candy in the way and taking up valuable screen real estate. There is no (unnecessary) eye candy (button, bar, panel) you can't easily remove/displace and tweak the GUI to save as much valuable screen real estate as you wish. Therefore despite of using the same skin you will hardly fi

Are you sure you don't mix up the 'kplugins' folder with the 'plugins' folder? I never bothered to install the Shockwave package. NPSWF32.dll is all you need to watch .SWF files. I always only extract the NPSWF32.dll from the Shockwave install package and place it into K-Meleon's 'plugins' folder. The same applies for FlashPlayer.exe (which you can place w

QuoteguenterUsers that have no administrator privileges automatically have writing rights in %apdata%. So K-Meleon default Profiles folder was relocated to from ./K-Meleon/Profiles/ Folder to %apdata%/K-Meleon/Profiles. Many PPL do not know how to set writing privileges. I see. That makes sense. Now I get the logic of your statement BTW, this applies to other browsers like Opera as well.

Quoteguenterp.s. Also use Multi User Support on install. That is default and good for 2000/XP/Vista. I don't put a question mark against but I simply can't get the logic. (Du kannst es mir auch auf deutsch erklären wieso.) I always use the single user option (K-Meleon, Opera on NT 5.0) and never had problems so far.

Albeit the fix works (thx) it wouldn't hurt to update the install package (e.g. to 1.5.2.1) soon since likely not all K-M users are also regulars of this forum.

Quoteplasmapelz It helps right now, but I still think that it should be part of base Kmeleon, not just a plugin. Plugins are for features that some people use, but features that (almost?) everybody uses should always be part of the base package. The point is that not everybody would use that feature. If any feature that somebody might use would be added to the base package, K-Meleon would end

QuotexpalladinI have migrated from Firefox and miss the ability to click on an "x" button, on the tab, to close it ... a small thing but it speeds up browser usage. IMO the most efficient way to speed up browser usage is to assign a mouse gesture for that task.

QuoteJohnHellIf you are asking yourself, why I'm asking and investigating this, is because is a waste of DSL bandwidth and time while you download/watch it without the possibility to save. Then you must re-download again (using the guenter's recommendations or others) and it's quite annoying :/ You don't waste DSL bandwidth and time if you download the flash video at first.

QuotemisterpOpera must be smart enough to incorporate the server information into the saved file. That's not the case. Opera opens and correctly displays the file saved by K-M without connecting to the server. Thanks misterp for looking into. At least a minor consolation that I'm not the only one I might be wrong but as far as I can see, with no charset specified, opening a locally stored page, Western(ISO-8859-1) gets applied. This might cause my problem. However wonder how it works for other people.

Thanks Günter for testing I installed K-Meleon 1.5.2RC2 in a new folder. I have the same results, I had with 1.5.1. Watching the sites online is no problem. When saved and opened from HD I still have the above described problem. No matter which version I try, I can correctly view the localy opened page only after manually selecting UTF8 and the page gets reloaded. Since nobody else except

Opening (local) saved pages K-M doesn't display German characters (Umlaute like ä,ü,ö). It does if I set encoding to UTF8 but I can't find how to make the setting permanent. After closing K-M my setting is lost. I also tried in browser config to set network.standard-url.encode-utf8 to true but it doesn't help neither. PS It doesn't occur on all sites. Here it does (i
