K-Meleon has many advantages over common web browsers:

Customization:

Drag and drop, or disable toolbars. Customize the main menu, context menus, keyboard shortcuts, and toolbars out of the box through the configurations files. Switch or modify skins to change any button or toolbar.

Lightweight:

Browser K-Meleon SeaMonkey Mypal Chrome Firefox
Ram Usage 70 MB 110 MB 120 MB 380 MB 400 MB

K-Meleon can render a webpage comfortably with under 100MB of memory. It can run with as low as 20MB of RAM. Because K-Meleon's engine is single-process, it can run with little system memory, even with many tabs. In contrast, web browsers that use Google's web engine will quickly eat up ten times as much memory with multiple tabs open.

Legacy Operating Systems:

internal://90fbb0cd47b9477ffdaea4852678c677.jpeg K-Meleon can run on Windows XP and Windows Vista. It's one of the last browsers to support Windows Server 2003 and ReactOS, the open-source implementation of the Windows API. It can also run on more recent versions from Windows 7 up to the latest release. K-Meleon includes TLS certificates to access modern HTTPS web pages. There are even TLS updates available for K-Meleon 1.5 on Windows 98 and an unofficial port of K-Meleon 74 with the Goanna engine to Windows 2000.

K-Meleon's Macros

# This is a simple macro. Lines starting with "#" are comments.
# And a simple "hello world" macro is below:
NewMacro{
        alert("Hello, world!");
}

Macros are so simple that end users can read, edit, and modify them in any text editor. You could make your first macro today.

Privacy-respecting

No telemetry or data collection. Use K-Meleon's Privacy Bar to selectively block popups and even toggle JavaScript with the click of your mouse. A basic adblocker that uses very little memory is included.

Mouse Gestures

Use mouse gestures to navigate the web by right-clicking on a page while sliding your mouse left or right to go back or forward. Gestures are customizable and allow the initiation of commands and macros.

Quick Search

K-Meleon supports searching directly from the URL bar using Mozilla-style Keywords and quick search bookmarks.
