WARNING: Adobe no longer supports Flash with security updates. Running the Adobe Flash plugin on your computer can cause security issues.
External applications can more safely run Flash content. The open-source VLC media player can run flash videos and the Ruffle emulator can run Flash games and other apps.
To use an external application:
- Right-click on flash content and choose to Save as
- After the file downloads, right-click the file and choose to open with from the context menu.
- Choose the VLC Media Player for Flash videos (.flv) or the Ruffle emulator for Shockwave (.swf) games and apps. Check any boxes to make these applications the default way to open .swf or .flv files.
Install the Flash Plugin
Adobe Flash Player versions 9 and higher run on K-Meleon. Flash Player versions 32.0.0.363 and higher will not run after a certain date. Versions of flash between 9 and 32.0.0.363 are available on archive.org.
To install the plugin:
- Download a version of Flash from archive.org: https://archive.org/download/flashplayerarchive/pub/flashplayer/installers/archive/
- Extract the compressed file and run the included Windows 32-bit installer. Check any boxes for browser plugins.
- Restart K-Meleon.
- Type about:addons into the address bar. You should see your plugins along with options to activate and deactivate the plugins.
