This plus2 version, that is suitable to use in Linux with the Wine emulator, or also in Windows, has Adblock and No Script added. For Windows, also Active X Support has been added. The security is at the level of today, using files updated to Mozilla 1.8.1.2 using Gecko/20070222 from Seamonkey 1.1.1 final. New chrome thanks to Guenter. Look and feel are similar to the earlier 0.9 versions.
The profiles folder will be created inside the K-Meleon main folder, as before. If, when in Linux, you want this folder inside the wine configuration directory because of property rights problems, rename the file profile.ini inside the K-Meleon main folder to for example profile.ini-renamed before the first start.
-- Note : These versions all work only if you have the files mfc71.dll, msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll in your system or in your K-Meleon folder. If you need them, they are still available under the name dll-installer on the KM 8.2+ website at :
http://www.lontronics.nl/index.php?m=0006
This will install the files on your system. If necessary in Linux, copy the files manually to the K-Meleon main folder.
-- If an error message should appear at the second startup, click the button again and remove later the hook for "always ask"in Edit/Manage Profiles. History must be deleted manually.
-- When used in Linux with Wine:
It's preferable to use "windows only" mode without layers for better stability. It is not advisable to use groups of more than 3 or 4 websites, better use no groups at all to avoid browser failures. A minor flaw, that has not been fixed yet, is that the URL bar sometimes won't change to show the actual URL after clicking links. If fonts should not work in wine, copy fonts from your windows installation to the " .wine " configurations folder, to the subfolder "fonts" and restart the browser. Take care that you have the needed permissions to write and execute. If necessary, let the browser create the profiles folder inside the .wine configuration folder by renaming profile.ini in the K-Meleon folder as described. Certain instabilities should be tolerated when K-Meleon is used in Linux.

This is the original 0.9.13 version, updated to Mozilla 1.8.1.pre2 using Gecko/20070221, from the latest nightly of Seamonkey 1.1.1 . with some additional features.
-- This enables a further safe use of this version which still includes the extensions No Script, Adblock and selectable Active X Support.
-- Active X Support can be enabled, but only for Windows Media Player. Note: Not all media files will work, if they cannot find a requested player model. Try then K-Meleon 1.0.1-ax, which has no conflicts with No Script and Adblock to open such streams.
-- Note : This version works only if you have the files mfc71.dll, msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll in your system or in your K-Meleon folder. If you need them, they are still available under the name dll-installer on the KM 8.2+ website at :
http://www.lontronics.nl/index.php?m=0006
This will install the files on your system. Your profile will be created in the K-Meleon folder by default, without touching your older profile in the "documents" folder.
-- If you should get an error alert, when you restart the browser, repeat clicking once more and the alert should stop then.
-- New : Buttons for Adblock and No Script also added to the Privacy bar.
-- Features:
-- Adblock extension added. Thanks to Captn Black. Adblock button toggles Adblock function. Preference button opens Adblock Preferences. Filterlist preconfigured. Block additional images by the context menu (insert then into the filter line). To delete or edit a filter, middle click on the concerned filter line, and edit the filter.
-- No Script extension included. Thanks to Alain Aupeix and Captn Black. No Script button toggles No Script, Right click context menu for No Script contains: Allow javascript for this page for session, Block only for this session, Add and remove from list of allowed pages. Block Flash, Java or Plugins from No Script. Note : For No Script functions, Javascript must always be enabled in the Preferences panel.

This is a simplified version of K-Meleon 1.x , updated to Mozilla 1.8.1.2pre using Gecko/20070221, from the latest nightly of Seamonkey 1.1.1. New chrome thanks to Guenter. Look and feel are similar to the earlier 0.9 versions. This version 4 should work with most Linux distributions. It could also be used in Windows, if a simpler version is preferred. Note: This version does not include Adblock, No Script and Active X Support(for Windows), these extensions are included in the "plus" versions. The profiles folder will be created inside the K-Meleon main folder, as before. If, when in Linux, you want this folder inside the wine configuration directory because of property rights problems, rename the file profile.ini inside the K-Meleon main folder to for example profile.ini-renamed before the first start.

This will install the files on your system. If necessary in Linux, copy the files manually to the K-Meleon main folder.
-- A javascript button has been included. After changing permissions for javascript, reload the page.
-- If an error message should appear at the second startup, click the button again and remove later the hook for "always ask"in Edit/Manage Profiles. History must be deleted manually.

Download here, new, from Rapidshare (.zip file) or here, from Quicksharing (.zip file) .If you cannot see the direct link at the Quicksharing address, you have to disable ad content filters, and enable javascript to see it. In K-Meleon the setting is in Advanced Preferences (css blocking), in Firefox in View/page style/no style, or by the Adblock extension.
This is a 1.0.1 variation, updated to Mozilla 1.8.0.6 using Gecko/20060730 with Active X Support for Windows Media Player.
Active X Support is by default preset to be enabled only for comparatively safe Active x controls, as for example Windows Media Player. To enable it, go to Menu>Tools>Active X Support .
To allow less safe Active X controls, read the explanation in activex.js in the folder defaults/prefs, opening it with an editor. As this can be dangerous, I do not recommend it.
Javascript Button added, to easily enable/disable javascript.
Note : This version is still in an experimental state. Some functions in the Advanced Preferences Panel do not work. Many of them can be enabled from the menu bar.
Note : This version works only if you have the files msvcp71.dll, msvcr71.dll and mfc71.dll in your system or in your K-Meleon folder. If you need them, they are still available under the name dll-installer on the KM 8.2 website at : http://www.lontronics.nl/index.php?m=0006 This will install the files on your system.

Nothing will be written on a computer, that you use, where you have no writing rights, and only reading access is allowed.
Unzip the file and burn it on a CD.
No history view and no bookmarks saving possible, because of read only functions.
Javascript button for blocking and allowing javascript. Reload the page after changing.
The menu is in the button Preferences (right click), or in the shortcut Alt + X.
To reach an existing bookmarks file on a floppy or elsewhere, or a start page somewhere on the computer or the web, enter the path to them in Tools/Hotkeys, to reach them as a web file, using a shortcut Ctrl + number 1 to 0.
Read the "readme" file (link on the start page).
