I have a problem with polish signs.

In polish alphabet we have extra letters like ś, ń, ł, ó etc.
Normally when I press alt+s I receive sign "Å›"
But using K-meleon, writing on a forum I can't write these letters.
for example when I press alt+s -> appears a Save As Group (Enter group name to save these layers as).

How can you change it?

I wonder if we could ever made a true international browser, with support for this kind of characters as polish or cyrillic.

I wonder if we could steal the solution for the cyrillic from the russian K-Meleon team and apply it in the official.

On polish forum someone has told me that he can write polish signs. He also said that you could turn off "macros" (I don't know if I translated form polish correctly -> It's about "alt+s" etc) in config but I don't know how. I'm not a computer specialist.

Marcin: It collides with the &letter in the menus.cfg and possibly also with some ALT... in accel.cfg.

There is not much the dev team can do about it - none speaks Polish & its en-US.
Easiest for You pl-PL will be to re-define the keys in a language.cfg that either translates to Polish or just redefines the shortcuts so that they are not in the way any more. You just alter them & then there are no alt s... as menue shortcuts.

There is an older post about it in Forum.

But best wait till kko also has found Your post, he is the dev who specicializes in cfg. He often knows much easier solutions.


enaitzjga: Yes we do support the font - the problem is that pl-PL does not have the own language version of mensu and accels.cfg at the moment - Marcin can AFAIK use the 0.9 Polish files like JohnHell did with the Spanish or edit the files slightly or create a translation where he defines all keys so that he does not have a problem.

No Polish letters - catholic countries use Latin, he he.

I've looked up "shortcuts" "alt" or sth like that in the "brownser configuration" and "macros" but I haven't found.

I can't also find language.cfg

Where can I redefine shortcuts? How can I do it?

I only have to redefine: (right) alt+l; alt+z; alt+s, alt+n and alt+o. These shortcuts collides with polish signs.
I've downloaded the polish version of menus from resources but it doesn't work. It breaks/damages the brownser.

I don't speak Russian. The Russian alphabet is completely different. Polish has Latin signs + some special, Russian has Cyrillic alphabet.

Excuse me, I did not realize that You do not know where translation file can be found kko's K-Meleon ( translation ) home page. And sorry I cannot really know from Your inital post whether You use a totaly en-US, partly translated pl-PL, German or French K-Meleon. All 1.x except en-US have it. I do not even know which version number of K-Meleon You might be using.

You could understand Russian a little - but You cannot read it. (I know, i wrote "he he": priests brought the writing - Western Church Latin / Eastern Cyrillic)

Marek's councel (reductive workaround) works with 0.9 (that has menus AFAIK in Polish and Kashubian).

Marek's counsel should also works with 1-1.02 If some letters remain a problem
( You can try with 0.9 pl-PL macros and menus files with current exe etc 1.02 ).


Else You can try:

We have the letter "&" in the language defenition file. That triggers "Alt letter" for the menus. The language defenition file (language.cfg is where k-m exe is). It exists only in translationed versions of k-meleon and redefines strings.

example from the German translation file:

defines that not the Alt B but the ALT L is accesible via shortcut.
It also defines that German Lesezeichen replaces English word Bookmarks.

So You could IMHO search and redenfine the things that collide.

Thank you Günter very much for your help. As I said before I am not a computer specialist so I understand only simply tips like delete the file or something like that

I don't have problems with polish signs any more. Deleting the accel.cfg file helped to solve the problem.

I'd instaled menus fiels and macros befor I deleted accel.cfg file. It had destroyed the manu bars of the brownser (It had made a mess).
I don't need Polish menus, I prefer English.
