Enabling Media Player Content?

Hello..

I'm still having trouble enabling Windows Media Player content.
I have WMP 10 installed.

For reference, it works just fine in K-Ninja (Tools->Application->ActiveX *Media Player* Control).
The "Application" submenu, however, is not present in K-Meleon (V1.02)

I did copy the few .dll's K-Ninja uses for ActiveX into K-Meleon's folder, thus getting the following under about;plugins..

    File name: npmozax.dll
    Mozilla ActiveX control and plugin module

Mime Type		Description	Suffixes	Enabled

application/x-oleobject  ActiveX 	*.ocx 		Yes
application/oleobject 	 ActiveX 	*.ocx 		Yes

It is still not playing WMP content.
Any ideas/suggestions?

TIA,

-r

Alright, so I deleted the whole K-Meleon folder (ridding it of K-Ninja's dlls), reinstalled, and did the following:

From http://entropymine.com/jason/defaultpluginpro/:

- npdefpluginpro.dll to \plugins

From http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/faqs/kmeleon.html:

- npmozax.dll to \plugins
- activex.js to defaults\pref
- nsAxSecurityPolicy.js to \components
- nsIMozAxPlugin.xpt to \components

Then, I deleted compreg.dat and xpti.dat, restarted K-Meleon 1.02.
WMP content is still not working.

Any further suggestions?

Hi,

You must read this thread: Media Player video

Alright, so after reading some more, I added npdrmv2.dll and npdsplay.dll to the \plugins folder, and that enabled WMP content such as this: http://members.aol.com/jrzycrim01/mozilla/wmp/vidtest-LS.html

However, *embeded* Active-X WMP content (such as this: http://members.aol.com/jrzycrim01/mozilla/wmp/wmpaxtest.html) remains non-working.

Any suggestions?

TIA,

from Ninja folder components: nsAxSecurityPolicy.js, nsIMozAxPlugin.xpt
(and delete the two dats as You said ).

The next must be one line each starting with pref(" and in some.js in defaults/pref/

pref("security.xpconnect.activex.global.hosting_flags",9);
pref("security.classID.allowByDefault", false);
pref("capability.policy.default.ClassID.CID6BF52A52-394A-11D3-B153-00C04F79FAA6", "AllAccess");
pref("capability.policy.default.ClassID.CID22D6F312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95", "AllAccess");

It is for whitelisting safe plugins. If You want others that You do not know by number - set allow by... to true with a value of 9 (that is not too unsecure).

Now You need a npmozax.dll in plugins (but best use the whole ninja plugins folder and copy it to k-m).

and then You need the dll that k-ninja has next to k-ninja.exe and that k-m does not have at that place. That should normally do the trick.

btw. There is an essential readme about problems at Mozilla.org plugins page.

& I do not see any reason why You want to install a k-meleon instead of ninja.

Al did a good job configuring the plugins.
The 2 are identical browsers - only a few components are different.
Why not just turn the following pref to true

user_pref("kmeleon.toolband.Menu.visibility", true);

and the K-Ninja looks like a Meleon and has easily usable menus again -
while still using Al's preconfigured plugins ;-)

& rename the exe to k-meleon (that lests You use k-meleons setdefault.exe).

Now You have the best of both worlds.
