launching thunderbird

I have in the configure mail for the mail string "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" /m "%1". In the tools menu if the read mail button is clicked Tbird launchs. Cicking Mailto links such as:

mailto:listserv@webber.uk.oup.com?body=subscribe askoxfordwordoftheday-l

tries to launch outlook. What do I have to do to correct this?

Figured it out Goto ControlPanel/internet options/programs
set thunderbird as your default.

Thread hijack, sorry but..I cannot locate anything in Search. Is there a way to set gmail as mailto: ? I know it is a stretch but just asking...Thank you and sorry again for the gmail hijack.

The answer to my query is basically here:

If you use gmail https:// then you will need this patch for it to work.
