Really there isn't any problem to try this update with K-Meleon 1.1.X versions.
Only I didn't tested it in 1.1.X versions, but you can try it, remember do a backup of your 1.1.X installation folder in other folder before to install the Gecko update.

The update worked for an 1.02 and 1.1.4, which I keep updated (I did not test them long/much). It will IMHO also work for ME versions since it does not include changed chrome.dll & xpt. But I did not test that.

At the moment is a good update for 1.1.6.

The latest update, before this, caused lots of problems, lots of crashes, but this, at the moment (let's cross fingers) works...

i got a couple of crashes with this update.. mainly when middleclickling(open background tab) on a download link(exe, zip etc) and few times the download prompt stalls at 'connecting' without downloading.. need to test more to rule out bad servers or sites problems.

1.) You are better tester than me

The GREs done with VC7.1 (used by official) are faster/better IMHO.
GRE taken from SeaMonkey is a gift horse. And I do not look into its mouth

p.s. Except in K-Meleon install used mostly for banking I use most stable & fast, can go with less security. & for 1.6 i use fastest.

The update didn't quite work for me in km 1.1.3.
Several hangs and problems with flashblock.
I'll retry and test some more later.

Yes, update before this update had problems with Seamonkey xpcom files, you must remain the K-Meleon original xpcom files to work fine and more stable.

In current update 1.8.1.21 I tried again with Seamonkey xpcom files and now seems this work better than in before update.

If anyone have problems or detect unstability with this current update can try to replace all xpcom files for K-Meleon original xpcom files.

Is possible that FlashBlock included in 1.1.3 need an update to work with this new engine update.

FlashBlock work fine for me in 1.5.2 updated.

Can you post some example links where you have problem with FlashBlock?

I'm doing some test and work fine to me in 1.5.2 updated, can you post some example links with this problem?

it's rather sporadic but since i installed the update i had 4 crashes which is unusual.. last time kmeleon crashed on me was in 2008 .. so i just figured there's something not right or causing instability and i removed the update and restored original 1.8.1.19.. couple of times it crashed when trying to open a link with the middle button to open in the background and there's a strange problem that happened whilst downloading..it would halt and stay at connecting without downloading.. another time it crashed when i was testing a badly written macro so i guess that could have been my fault.

desga, do you have any feedback on injectcss? i know now for sure that it doesn't work with 1.5.2 but haven't tested with previous 1.5 versions.. i tested with 1.1.x and injectCSS works fine and the injected css overrides the page properly.. i thought i might have a bad prefs causing it to not work, so i made a default profile and it still won't work?! did klaus or dorian remove injectcss in 1.5.x?

this macro works in 1.1.x and injected css overrides as expected..but it doesn't work in 1.5.2..

Finally, the worst error that happened to the other update too. When you download (already reported by disrupted)... freezes and crash on exit!

No problem for me, I can't reproduce yours problems.

I tested with 1.5.2 default (en-US) with new profile (profile.ini).

As I said in above post, problems with downloads are known with before updates and this are due to problems with xpcom files.

Can anyone with downloads problems test my update but replaced with originals K-Meleon xpcom files?

If I remember well, the same problem [after replace xcomp files] with the update before this. K-meleon, in my case, 1.1.6, doesn't fully load/open, then, unable to open any url/page.

Hope 1.5.x users have better luck

I used 1.1.6 with the update and downloaded some files. After closing KM and starting to "Eat cookies", I got an error message from KM. Does the error data get sent to Dorian automatic or do I need to do something? I will use 1.1.6 again to download and see if the problem is still there.

There is a problem with downloading files in 1.1.6 after the update. The first time I tried, I was able to download two files. The error came upon closing KM. The next time I tried, I could not get download to work at all.

My experience with km 1.5.2. Update works fine. I see no problems.

My experiences with km 1.1.x below:

If I update but keep my original xpcom files, browser starts with blank page
and then hangs for a while. After that, every url shows a blank page.

Direct update including replacement of all my xpcom files works but flashblock
does not function. Pick any youtube page as example. Instead of a white box with
the 'f' logo in the middle, I see a black box. Clicking inside it does nothing.
If it is a flashblock update problem, could you please tell me how I can update?

For Flashblock problem in 1.1.6 you can try this embed.jar updated: embed_116.zip

Remember first rename your original embed.jar file to embed.bak and after extract the zip file in \K-Meleon\chrome folder.

I don't tested it and I don't know if this work in 1.1.x, this depends if there were changes in embed.jar file in previus versions.

Also you can try with this Dorian's Flashblock update (this not modified embed.jar file):

Edit: Question: If I want to update to the latest flashblock (1.5.9) is it ok to download
flashblock1.5.9.xpi from http://downloads.mozdev.org/flashblock/
and extract just the flashblock.jar in my chrome folder, replacing the original (of dorian)?

One more question: In your update files, does xpcom_core.dll create an empty folder
(in 'documents and settings/owner/application data') or have you 'fixed' this file
so it does not create an empty folder?

I know that you ask me by this now (soccerfan and his famous K-Meleon portable 1.1.3)

In my update I included original xpcom_core.dll file (unpatched), this can be the source of the problems for some people that use K-Meleon profiles in Windows user profile or system folder (Muiltiuser option in KM installation)

Seamonkey's xpcom_core.dll search the profile in "Mozilla" folder instead of "K-Meleon" folder.

Try this files patched for portable versions: xpcom_core_KM_152_up.zip
First file is original K-Meleon 1.5.2 patched for portable.
Second file in folder "SM_11_15_KMupdate181_21" is Seamonkey 1.1.15 file patched for portable.
Third file in folder "Multiuser_SM_update" is an experimenteal untested file patched to use Semonkey file updated with Multiuser option.

Remember that you have this Tutorial for How to patch xpcom_core.dll file to portable version.

P.S.; About Flashblock update the version included in my embed.jar file is Flashblock 1.5.7.1.
Update this files in jar file (remember is a zip file):
flashblock.css
flashblock.xml

Some lines in this files are commented for K-Meleon you must compare it and commented the same lines in new update files.

and i'll continue using km 1.1.3 until the new kmeleon version (1.6?) is released ha ha

Sorry, but it did not work for me. I used the other dll and a new profile but still errors out on download or on exit after download.

- Now the good solution to use my updated patch in 1.1.x versions: (Tested by me in 1.1.6)

0) Close all K-Meleon instances (included Loader), copy your K-Meleon in new place or make a backup of it. Install my updated patch (link to download in first post of this thread). This is the same that for 1.5.x versions.

ONLY FOR 1.1.X VERSIONS:

1) In folder "K-Meleon\components\" rename "embed_lite.dll" file to "embed_lite.bak" or delete it if you have a backup.

2) Check that not exist *.dat files (compreg.dat and xpti.dat) in "K-Meleon\components\" folder.
My install patch delete it automatically but if you didn't used the installer or you did the before change after to start K-Meleon updated remember delete *.dat files in components folder or K-Meleon not will started.

REMEMBER THIS IS EXPERIMENTAL UPDATE NOT TESTED 100%
Install it and use it under your own risk.
Ever you must made a backup.
I'm not responsible for any damage or data loss that may result for this updated patch use.

Thanks to JamesD for continue testing my updated patch in 1.1.X version.

P.S.; This patch not must be used by JohnHell and his little patience with my updated patch Sometimes we needed some test to solved the problems.
Install, try it once, and uninstall it isn't help us.
