it seems more and more gecko browsers are rolling out.. it's probably due to the security advantage.. even ie shell developers like maxthon are working on gecko now like orca.
at this pace, it seems that one day we will see as many gecko browsers as ie shells; if not more.
Scary thought: What if one of this gecko players turns out to be better and faster than Kmeleon (
Kazehakase, maybe - faster than FF)?
(Altough this browsers are not made for windows, but for linux)

excellent find panzer!.. this borwser is very similar to arora but far more advanced, i think it uses a more recent qtwebkit engine. full support for unicode text and also plugins..i think, for windows; this is probably the best webkit browser. a definite keeper.

Disrupted, in QtWeb on this page
http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/ I can see british flag and link British. In Kmeleon I do not see this. Why is that?

K-Meleon web page saved your prefeernce language in a cookie.
Only languages not used are showed in left side green bar.
If you select other language like DE, FR, ES, you can show EN flag and the language flag selected isn't showed.

it's a nifty feature.. right? i also like how the tab expands and shrinks according to page title length
..i don't think it's doable in km, but dorian should know.

@Panzer
Nice find on the QTWeb, but right clicking appears to do nothing at all. That definitely needs a fix. :-(

Nice but slow with js execution - needs newer js engine

Zoohoter, right click works only when you click on a link. Otherwise it does not work
.
What I find positive in Qtweb:
Default skin looks prettier than Kmeleon's default skin
for developers: you can see hoe pages looks like on different sistems
I am in the public library at this moment using comp, full of garbage. Qtweb loads pretty fast here. Kmeleon with loader does not open, it works only if I open kmeleon.exe directly. Secondly, this comp has a filter and page from my company is banned (newspaper with s - e - x section
) so I can not open the page. Sometimes page won't open, sometimes browser shuts down. But it seems that filter does not know webkit so I can see the pages with Qtweb. Funny ...

Did You try K-Meleon spoof:
5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de-DE) AppleWebKit/523.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) QtWeb Internet Browser/1.2
http://www.QtWeb.net
Maybe the filter falls for it.
Some more exotic strings to try:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1b2pre) Gecko/2008 Lunascape/4.9.9.94
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0) Sleipnir/2.8.2
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de-DE) AppleWebKit/523.15 (KHTML, like Gecko, Safari/419.3) Arora/0.3 (Change: 287 c9dfb30)
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/525.19 (KHTML, like Gecko) Iron/0.2.152.0 Safari/12076840.525

I don't know if it was mentioned on the thread, but I am liking
Iron (a
Google Chrome clone, essentially striped of its privacy compromising features) more and more. Now, I don't want to sound like a fanboi, but this really is a piece of exciting kit...
I reckon it might not be too gentle with legacy hardware, as it has stark memory requirements -- but so does modern K-Meleon on all PCs I currently run it on (see a year old thread for one example that's still happening to me, albeit in a less dramatic way:
http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?1,74944,75350#msg-75350).
OTH,
Iron memory management is superb, as it releases it every time you close a tab -- each tab runs in a different process, and if it crashes it doesn't take the browser down. The JavaScript engine is mostly up to date, so it deals wonderfully with those dynamic sites that are all the rage right now, JS/AJAX/XML based -- you may be interested to know it is based on the
Webkit engine, as is Safari, and it manages to score a full
100% on the ACID3 test!!!:O
Among other things, it has embedded spellchecking, it supports some primitive adblocking via a text file placed in the program folder (search SRWare forum for it), it supports skins, it has a privacy mode (called 'incognito window'), it captures search engines automagically that you can set as default via the search engine manager, you can detach tabs into new windows and merge windows into tabs by dragging and droping, the same way you can rearrange open tabs, the url bar and search have been merged, there's no menu bar but only two menu buttons on the left for page and browser options, and so on.
Learn more about the technical options made by the Chrome developing team in a easy reading
comic (
http://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/; English only). Chrome is Open Source and came out of Beta testing just now.
A German software company,
SRWare, took the code, removed the privacy sensitive features of Chrome, and released in both an installer and portable versions under the
Iron moniker. It might be not as tweakable as K-Meleon is, but it is a magnificent browser; take it for a spin, especially the portable version (found at
http://www.srware.net/en/software_srware_iron_download.php) and I am sure you won't be disapointed...

it's funny how the most hilarious software rip-off stories are usually not about money and seems more about acknowledgement.. i still can't help myself laughing every time i remember the mafuka encoder story
http://www.rjamorim.com/rrw/mafuka.html
.. i wonder why they always have 'dr.' as their titles.
panzer, apollo is a GREAT mp3 player.. excellent decoding engine and with a 16 band graphic-equaliser! should satisfy the most music-crazy amongst us. i guess they do live by their motto "sound quality is not skinnable".. great player, great sound and a small memory foot-print.. no gimmicks no crap, just like a true mp3 player should be.. i love it! thanks panz.
edit: very interesting license agreement "dareware".. never heard of that one before
"DAREWARE means that if you like this software and want to continue using
it you must agree with the human rights and promote them."

CCleaner specifically supports Google Chrome. I don't see that it supports Iron. Does it support Chrominum in general? Maybe, but if CCleaner doesn't support it, I don't use it. I have K-Meleon files listed in Options > Include in CCleaner.
