Hi.
I've found another bug, which I hope is easily fixed.
I was trying to listen to a funeral being streamed on the vimeo platform, and got an error "the player is having trouble, we'll have it up and running as soon as possible."
Further investigations revealed the stream was using the HLS m3u8 platform, which Kmeleon usually has no issues with, except, it seems, on vimeo.

Edit menu > Preference > GUI appearance > General.

If you don't wont, you don't need to update every week, even is desirable.

Just follow the instructions on the first post on this thread before update. There is also a thread on the forum by some user I can't find right now that explains more in detail, but, just follow the one on the first post here.

The personal settings are in your profile folder so they don't get overwritten/lost.

The profile folder location is based on... well, it depends. Have a read to the FAQ :

Hello,

I'm completely confused now. I just updated (I think), at least a lot of the files from the browser folder have been replaced with the new ones. I also backed up the Profiles folder. Only, I start K-Meleon, and without moving the backup back to the original location, everything is the same as before. Apparently the profile was not overwritten at all, my chronicle and the German-language user interface are still available. Or did something go wrong then? How do I know if the browser has really been updated?

There aren't bells and whistles telling you are running a new build, if that is what you are expecting.

As far, you can check it on platform.ini, in K-meleon root folder, and from Help > About K-meleon.

It works the same as any other portable program, Firefox included, to tell a similarity. You won't notice you are updated until you check the version, for example.

I installed this version. Youtube videos stop playing with message like "your browser cannot play this video". I reverted back to the previous build, YouTube videos play fine.
Spent an hour to understand, installed again, re-installed, checked all prefs.js etc. Then I realized that HTML5 on/off button must be disabled in order to play YouTube videos. Something was inverted or toggled wrongly. With this new version, when I DISABLE HTML5 (as the button shows by clicking it) YouTube plays fine, when I ENABLE HTML5, it does not play YouTube videos.
It seems that DISABLE is ENABLE and vice verso.
Also installing this build has some strange behavior regarding installing compared to the previous ones, like all filters gone from Adblockplus filter preference windows ( i had to re-copy all profile folders 2 times in order to get this). Also I need to check whether ABP and/or some other extension still working as something created some doubts in my mind.
Please keep in mind I am just a user, dont know about deep stuff as most of the people are, so ignore my mistakes etc.

NOTE: The previous build I was using before the above mentioned version was/is: BuildID=20220805020125 Milestone=3.5.0 (as in platform.ini) and URLbarTitle as I always use to update update the date of the build shows ", "KM76-4.6-GoTest-2022-08-06"). This build is OK regarding the issue.

Sorry about your issues WasiFH. I'm testing on a clean install of build 20220917:

1. No ABP package upon download.
2. I launch the browser with no existing profile.
3. KM creates a default profile folder.
4. Default profile contains an ABP setup with Rodocop's custom rules.
5. I download Rodocop's ABP package from this thread: http://kmeleonbrowser.org/forum/read.php?9,132173,page=4
6. I copy the files over to the KM directory and restart the browser.
7. There is an ABP icon and I can see the default small list of rules.

This is all expected behavior.

When you say, "all filters gone from Adblockplus filter preference windows" do you mean that the window is a blank rectangle or do you get a message that says you haven't added any filter subscriptions yet? Both issues can be caused by conflicting versions of ABP or similar add-ons. Try typing "about:addons" into your adress bar and see if you have an extra version of AdBlock Plus, ABPrime, AdBlock Classic, etc. If so, disable all but one and restart the browser.

ABP seems to active. enabled and working but all the rules/filters gone as it is freshly installed with no filter rules. I might get a screenshot but I have reverted to the previous backup-ed version. NOT BLANK WINDOWS O RECTANGLE, All pure ABP with no filters all tabs and buttons OK.
But the main issue isn't this as I could resolve this by re-copying all of my profiles from its backup. The issue here is that it couldn't play YouTube videos and I spent an hour just to realize that HTML5 button needs to be pressed to disable HTML5 in order to play YouTube Videos.
So I with very little knowledge guess that may be the HTML5 option is toggled wrongly so its button disables HTML5 when it seems ENABLE? Hope I explain the issue correctly.

NOTE: you tested with fresh install. I extracted the package to overwrite the existing installed previous KMG version.

I'm glad you were able to resolve the issue. If you see no subscriptions like that, it's likely that either /your.profile/adblockplus/patterns.ini was deleted, or that you have a second extension that is accessing the file so that it becomes unavailable.

Regarding the HTML 5 issues, hopefully someone else will chime in as I haven't downloaded that extension. If you want to see exactly what it's doing you could copy and paste about:config?filter=media.*.enabled into the address bar, press enter, and click to proceed if there's a warning. That page should show all your media preferences so you can click the HTML 5 extension's button and see what changes.

@ RJJIII Thank you. media filter helped me and I was able to revert/set all the changes so that the HTML5 extension button behaves normally. KM Goanna working OK on YouTube videos now so far but sometimes KMG disappears suddenly without any warning, I mean like crash but without any message, just goes off quietly and I have to restart it. But it happened in past and by the time it would become stable (may be due to next update), so I hope the same. Anyone else experienced this quite crash? Thank you so much.
